Suresh Raina Summoned By ED For Questioning In Online Betting App Case; Check Details

India.com4 days ago
Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate at its Delhi office for questioning in connection with an ongoing probe into an alleged illegal betting platform case.
The 38-year-old Raina has been asked to appear before the agency on Wednesday, August 13 for questioning in an illegal betting case linked to an app named 1xBet. He is expected to appear before ED to record his statement. Apart from Raina, many other cricketers and Bollywood celebrities are also under investigation
According to an India Today report, this summons comes as part of a wider crackdown on illegal betting apps and platforms, many of which have been promoted by celebrities.
Notably, the Telangana Police filed cases against 25 popular actors, including Rana Daggubati and Prakash Raj in May. Both actors denied any wrongdoing, claiming that they no longer promote such platforms and that, during the period they did, their campaigns were limited to regions where online skill-based games are legally allowed.
The report also stated that actor Rana Daggubati appeared before the Enforcement Directorate in Hyderabad on Monday as part of an ongoing probe into the alleged illegal promotion of online betting platforms. He was initially summoned on July 23 but requested more time due to film commitments, leading to his appearance being rescheduled to August 11.
The agency is also investigating the financial dealings and digital footprints of several other celebrities mentioned in the FIR, including actors Manchu Lakshmi, Nidhi Agarwal, Ananya Nagalla, and TV anchor Srimukhi.

Firing At YouTuber Elvish Yadav's Gurugran House, Father Says "25-30 Rounds Fired"

New Delhi: Firing was reported outside the house of controversial YouTuber and Bigg Boss OTT winner Elvish Yadav in an upscale locality of Gurugram early this morning. Three unidentified attackers arrived on a bike at his house in Sector 56 around 5:30-6 am. Two of them fired at least a dozen shots and escaped. Mr Yadav was not at home at the time of the firing; the police said he had gone outside Haryana for some work. The caretaker of the house and some family members were inside but no one was injured in the firing. Mr Yadav has not filed any complaint yet. The firing targeted the ground floor and first floor of the house. The YouTuber lives on the second and third floors. While such firings are often seen as an extortion tactic, his father confirmed that his son had not received any threat. "The police are here. I was sleeping when the firing occurred. About 25-30 shots were fired. Elvish didn't get any threat. Three men were seen on the bike on CCTV, while two (of them) were seen at the gate," Ramavtar Yadav told reporters. The police reached the Yadav residence and collected evidence. CCTV footage from nearby areas is also being scanned. The police said that legal action has been initiated, and further action will be taken after the family lodges a complaint. This follows a firing at Haryanvi singer and rapper Rahul Yadav alias Fazilpuria's car was shot at last month. Fazilpuria had escaped unhurt in the incident. Days earlier, his close aide Rohit Shaukeen was killed in broad daylight in Gurugram. Gangster Sunil Sardhania of the Himanshu Bhau gang had claimed responsibility for the murder. Mr Yadav has been a controversial figure in the influencer circle. He was arrested last year for allegedly organising a rave party in which snake venom was used as a drug. A parallel probe was later launched against him by the Enforcement Directorate, and he was questioned under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

We share our multicultural love story, break taboos, and speak up for open minds about colourism. We celebrate a love that crosses cultures, challenges stereotypes, and inspires others to embrace diversity," Ms Shah wrote in the post. She mentioned that they both first connected online in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. The first meeting took place when her now-husband travelled to Brazil to meet her when there were no vaccines yet. "We fell in love and got married just five months after we met. When you know, you know," Ms Shah added. The wedding took place in Brazil, with her husband's Indian family blessing the union and being supportive of the relationship from the beginning. "We came from different cultures but our values are the same. Our love and admiration grow stronger every day. Thankful to the universe for guiding our souls together," she wrote.
