'I don't care that PSG are favourites'
Having won the French Cup, Ligue 1 and Champions League, PSG are a game away from a fourth major trophy of 2025 after destroying Real Madrid 4-0 in their semi-final on Wednesday.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca labelled them the "best team in the world" in his pre-match news conference, but his captain is unfazed by the praise for their opponents.
"To be honest, I don't care that everyone is bigging up our opposition," said James. "We're preparing right and we're going there to win.
"I've been in many finals before where we were favourites and we didn't come out on top."
Similarities have been drawn between the youthful nature of both Chelsea and PSG's squads, with Luis Enrique's side beating other Premier League sides Manchester City, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal in the Champions League before destroying Inter Milan 5-0 in the final.

"PSG are amazing and we're expecting a tough game, but we also have an amazing team and we're going to surprise a lot of people," James added.
"I'm sure the analyst team we have will be looking at the games where PSG haven't done so well, and we'll try and adapt to that."

Alexander Isak to return to training with Newcastle United
Alexander Isak is returning to the UK and is set to resume training with Newcastle United following a spell working individually at Real Sociedad. Isak has been training alone at his former club's Zubieta Facilities in the Basque country, but is now set to return to Newcastle's base – although the majority of the rest of the first team squad are currently on a pre-season tour in Asia. Advertisement The news of Isak's return comes the day after The Athletic reported that Newcastle had rejected a formal bid from Liverpool of £110million for the Sweden international, who wants to leave St James' Park this summer. Liverpool's stance is that they are not inclined to bid again after the quick rebuttal to their first offer, but their interest in the player is ongoing. The Premier League champions initially made an informal approach to Newcastle, expressing interest in doing a deal in the region of £120m, as reported by The Athletic on July 15. Newcastle, who will compete in the Champions League next season, have tried to tie Isak to an improved contract which would include a release clause next summer, and attempted to convince him to stay through his senior team-mates. The forward, however, has not changed his stance, which has been made clear to the club for some time. Isak has been absent from Newcastle's pre-season tour of Asia, with sources, speaking anonymously as they were not authorised to do so publicly, saying the decision was the player's preference. The club cited a minor thigh problem for his absence. Speaking on Saturday, ahead of Newcastle's pre-season friendly with Tottenham Hotspur in Seoul, South Korea, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe said the club continued to support Isak and hoped he would remain in the north east. 'I really don't know what is going to happen next, but from our perspective, we still support Alex in every way, and my wish is still that we see him in a Newcastle shirt again,' Howe said. Newcastle have begun searching for potential replacements for Isak, whose contract has three years remaining, despite the club's ongoing stance he is not for sale. Liverpool completed the signing of Hugo Ekitike from Frankfurt earlier this month, a forward Newcastle also held interest in, for an initial £69m. Advertisement Newcastle subsequently made RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko their top candidate and have made a bid worth €80m for the Slovenia, who is also of interest to Manchester United. Liverpool have been active in the summer transfer window, signing Florian Wirtz for a club record €136.3million (£116m) transfer fee from Bayer Leverkusen in June, also adding Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez and Ekitike to their squad. Goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili also joined the club after his transfer from Valencia was agreed last summer. Liverpool are expected to have plenty of headroom with the Premier League profit and sustainability rules (PSR) for 2025-26 with The Athletic estimating a comfortably profitable 2024-25 season.

Lyon in Talks with Liverpool Over £15m Move for Midfielder
Lyon Open Talks for Liverpool's Tyler Morton Morton Drawing Continental Attention Liverpool's Tyler Morton has become one of the most talked-about young midfielders on the market this summer, with Sky Sports News reporting that Ligue 1 side Lyon have entered negotiations with the Anfield club for his signature. The report states that 'Lyon are in talks with Liverpool over a possible deal for midfielder Tyler Morton.' At just 22, Morton has quietly built a strong reputation across the UK and Europe. His calmness in possession, eye for a pass and tactical intelligence have made him a standout during loan spells, particularly last season at Hull City in the Championship. Sky Sports News confirm that 'the 22-year-old has been the subject of a number of enquiries this summer from clubs in the UK, as well as Europe.' Photo IMAGO Strong List of Suitors It's not just Lyon who are keen. As per the same report, 'Braga, Ipswich, Strasbourg and West Ham have all expressed an interest,' underlining Morton's growing stock on both sides of the Channel. The mooted price tag is a modest £15 million for a player who offers positional versatility and top-flight potential. 'Sky Sports News understands any deal could be worth around £15m,' the report added. Liverpool's Midfield Evolution As Arne Slot begins his tenure at Liverpool, trimming the midfield unit and shaping it to his liking is an expected move. Morton, while talented, may find game time limited given the current depth. A sale now would represent smart business, particularly with a sell-on clause or buy-back option. Bright Future for Morton Should the Lyon move materialise, Morton will join a club known for nurturing talent and offering exposure in both domestic and European competition. It feels like the right moment in his development arc. Our View – EPL Index Analysis Tyler Morton has long been considered one of Liverpool's brightest academy graduates, and the news that 'Lyon are in talks with Liverpool over a possible deal' will no doubt spark mixed emotions among Reds fans. At 22, he is reaching the stage where first-team minutes are vital. But with Arne Slot looking to build a dynamic, high-pressing side, Morton's composed tempo-setting style may not perfectly fit the current tactical blueprint. The list of interested clubs, including 'Braga, Ipswich, Strasbourg and West Ham,' suggests Morton's quality is widely acknowledged. Yet the reported £15 million fee feels light, especially given Liverpool's recent strong negotiating stance in the market. Supporters will be hoping any potential sale includes a healthy sell-on clause or even a buy-back arrangement. Fans still recall Morton's assured performances in European fixtures under Klopp, where he rarely looked out of place. Losing a homegrown product with such poise feels like a risk, especially at a time when squad depth and identity are under scrutiny post-Klopp. This could be one that fans look back on and think, 'Did we let him go too early?'
