Morocco's Tourism Chief Brings All Staff Together for Major Strategic Reset
The move seems to be an extensive overhaul through which the office intends to enhance its managerial performance and signals a major shift in how the country plans to tackle its tourism ambitions.
Achraf Fayda, who took over as head of the tourism office eight months ago, organized this comprehensive staff mobilization to align everyone around a shared vision.
The meeting represents more than just internal reorganization,as ONMT chief wants to create a workplace culture focused on results, quick decision-making, and mutual trust.
He says his team plans to identify top talent across the organization, improve communication between departments, cut red tape, and invest in employee development.
Recent wins set the stage
This internal reset builds on several recent successes that have helped Morocco gain ground in global tourism.
The 'Morocco, Land of Football' marketing campaign created a buzz and connected with audiences worldwide. Two focused initiatives — one highlighting Fès and another promoting Ouarzazate — featured Morocco's rich history and natural beauty to potential visitors.

The tourism office has also struck deals with major international travel companies to increase flights to Morocco and boost the country's visibility in key markets.
Eyes on major events ahead
The Rabat meeting comes at a crucial time, with Morocco preparing to host the 2025 African Cup of Nations and co-host the World Cup in 2030.
These events will put the country in front of millions of viewers worldwide and represent massive opportunities to attract new visitors.
The tourism office plans to create a detailed action plan that takes advantage of these upcoming events. But first, they want to make sure their team works as a unified force.
Industry partnership on the horizon
The next phase will expand beyond the tourism office itself, as Fayda plans to bring in tourism industry professionals from across Morocco through the National Tourism Confederation.
Together, they'll develop a comprehensive strategy that the entire sector can rally behind, departing from top-down planning.
Morocco's tourism leadership wants to tap into expertise from hotels, tour operators, restaurants, and other businesses that deal with visitors daily.
The comprehensive staff meeting represents Morocco's recognition that successful tourism development requires more than marketing campaigns and infrastructure projects.
It demands organizations that can execute effectively and adapt quickly to changing conditions in the global travel market. Tags: Morocco TourismNational Tourism Office (ONMT)ONMTTourism

Fleet Expansion Plan: Royal Air Maroc Receives 2 New Boeing 737 MAX 8
Rabat – Royal Air Maroc (RAM) received two new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft on Thursday as part of the carrier's fleet expansion plan. In a report today, Moroccan news outlet Le360 quoted Royal Air Maroc's head of the Prospective, Strategy and Fleet Department, as emphasizing the importance of the new fleet batch for the company. 'This is a big day for us,' Fadwa Mahamma said, adding that the two aircraft mark a 'significant acceleration in the expansion of our fleet, fully aligned with our company's ambitions supported by the State.' She revealed that Royal Air Maroc has been receiving 'nearly one aircraft every two weeks, meaning that by the end of the year, around ten aircraft will join our fleet.' Mehdi El Yaalaoui, RAM's Director of Strategy and Innovation, echoed Mahamma's remarks, noting that these planes will allow the company to renew its fleet and to improve the onboard experience for its customers. El Yaaloui said the fleet will also reduce its carbon footprint by 15%, citing next-generation engines. 'Each new delivery symbolizes our collective commitment to achieving the goals of our development plan and to being ready for major events like the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2030 World Cup, two key moments for our country and continent,' he added. In June, RAM's CEO Hamid Addou expressed frustration over Boeing's delays in submitting ordered aircraft. 'You have to offer your customers what they're paying for. And in the economy… You have to offer the kind of service they're expecting. So we need to invest in the product, and we are already doing it,' Addou told CNN. 'One feels frustrated when you have 15 to 18 months of late deliveries,' Addou said, but acknowledged that all executives and airlines face the same and that promises have been made and steps have been taken for things to evolve in the 'right direction.' Morocco Ranks 96th Globally in Fixed Internet Speed
Rabat — Morocco ranked 96th out of 152 countries in fixed broadband internet speed, according to the latest Speedtest Global Index published by Ookla. The report, which analyzed data from April to June 2025, shows that Morocco recorded an average download speed of 61.43 Mbps on fixed connections such as ADSL and fiber. In contrast, the global average speed for fixed broadband during the same period reached 103 Mbps, featuring a significant performance gap between Morocco and leading digital nations. Countries like Singapore, Hong Kong, and the United Arab Emirates continue to dominate the global rankings, with average speeds well above 200 Mbps. The report tracks internet performance across the world and provides a quarterly update based on millions of user-initiated tests. Although Morocco has made modest improvements in recent years, the country still faces challenges in extending high-speed internet access to all regions, particularly rural and semi-urban areas. Digital experts stress the need for stronger investment in infrastructure and regulatory reforms to improve performance and affordability. The findings come amid ongoing public concerns over service quality and internet pricing in Morocco, as users increasingly rely on digital platforms for education, work, and entertainment. Morocco has in recent years launched several initiatives to bolster its internet infrastructure, aiming to enhance connectivity and bridge the digital divide. The North African country has designed a rollout of 5G mobile technology scheduled for November this year, just before the start of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON). Through this initiative, Morocco is set to provide 5G access to 25% of its population by the end of 2025, with goal to expand it to 70% by 2030. The digital shift accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic further signaled the need for reliable internet, as remote work, online education, and e-services became more prevalent in Moroccan society.
