He pointed to the Petroleum Development Act 1974 (PDA1974) and Territorial Sea Act 2012 (TSA2012) as laws that have undermined Sabah and Sarawak's rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63). The criticism comes as Sabah NGO Sabar mounts a legal challenge against TSA2012, a move the Sabah Chief Minister has supported, stating the State does not recognise the law. 'Sarawak sues, while Sabah PH-BN settles for handshakes and empty promises,' Yong said, questioning the two parties' impact where they boast about resolving 13 MA63 issues. He called out Upko's Federal minister, Datuk Ewon Benedick, for failing to amend PDA1974 or deliver the promised 40 per cent revenue formula by July 2024. 'It is now May 2025, where is the formula? Where is our money?' Yong said, referring to Ewon's September 2023 announcement. SAPP, which has long opposed PDA1974, TSA2012 and the loss of oil-rich Blocks L and M to Brunei, is now demanding Sabah PH-BN clarify its stance. GRS to maintain cooperation with PH for state polls

Ukrainian drones kill 1, damage industrial facility in Russia
Kyiv says its attacks inside Russia are aimed at destroying infrastructure that is key to Moscow's war efforts. Roman Busargin posted on the Telegram messaging app that residents were evacuated after debris from a destroyed drone damaged three apartments in the overnight attack. 'Several residents required medical assistance,' Busargin said. 'Aid was provided onsite, and one person has been hospitalised. Unfortunately, one person has died.' Russian air defence units destroyed 121 Ukrainian drones overnight, including eight over the Saratov region, the defence ministry said. It reports only how many drones its defence units down, not how many Ukraine launches. Busargin did not specify what kind of industrial site was damaged. Social media footage showed thick black smoke rising over what looked like an industrial zone. Reuters verified the location seen in one of the videos as matching file and satellite imagery of the area. Reuters could not verify when the video was filmed. Ukrainian media, including the RBK-Ukraine media outlet, reported that the oil refinery in the city of Saratov, the administrative centre of the region, was on fire after a drone attack. Reuters could not verify those reports. There was no official comment from Russia. The Rosneft-owned refinery in the Saratov city was forced to suspend operations earlier this year for safety reasons after Ukrainian drone attacks, industry sources told Reuters. Russia's SHOT Telegram channel, which often publishes information from sources in the security services and law enforcement, reported about eight explosions were heard over Saratov and Engels, cities separated by the Volga River. Russia's civil aviation authority Rosaviatsia said on Telegram that flights in and out of Saratov had been halted for about two hours early today to ensure air safety. Both sides deny targeting civilians in their strikes on each other's territory in the war that Russia launched with a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Kyiv says its attacks inside Russia are aimed at destroying infrastructure that is key to Moscow's war efforts, including energy and military infrastructure, and are in response to Russia's continued strikes.

State bond repayment not solely Warisan's doing, says Masidi

He said the bonds, issued in December 2014 during the Barisan Nasional administration, came with a Bank Negara Malaysia requirement for a dedicated Sinking Fund to ensure repayment on maturity. Advertisement Under the terms, RM200 million was to be deposited annually into the fund over five years, allowing the state to accumulate the necessary amount before 2019. By the time the Warisan administration assumed office in 2018, most of the funds had already been secured for the repayment. Masidi said the RM1 billion in the Sinking Fund in 2019 enabled a one-off payment to settle the bond debt in full. He stressed that the repayment reflected prudent planning by the previous administration rather than any special initiative by its successor.
