Rays edge White Sox 4-3, snap Chicago's 5-game winning streak
The loss was Chicago's first since the All-Star break and snapped a season-high five-game winning streak.
Tampa Bay's Drew Rasmussen allowed two runs on three hits over four innings, walking one and striking out five. It was just the fifth time Rasmussen didn't complete five innings, so Edwin Uceta (7-2) picked up the win with two scoreless innings of relief. Pete Fairbanks pitched the ninth for his 17th save.
White Sox starter Davis Martin (2-8), returning from a forearm strain, was charged with four runs — three earned — on three hits over five innings.
He walked four — three in the second — and two of those runners scored. One came in on a balk, and Caballero hit a two-run single before scoring on a groundout after advancing to third on a throwing error.
Chicago got to Rasmussen in the fourth. Mike Tauchman led off with a double before Chase Meidroth and Edgar Quero drove in runs. Colson Montgomery his first career home run in the seventh inning.

Australia's injury woes continue as Pollard steps in for Porecki in third test against Lions
SYDNEY (AP) — Another injury has forced late changes to Australia's lineup for the third rugby test against the British and Irish Lions, with Billy Pollard promoted to start at hooker after David Porecki and Matt Faessler were ruled out of Saturday's match. Porecki was ruled out Friday with a leg injury, making way for Pollard to move into the starting XV off the bench for his 10th test. Mariners reliever Trent Thornton carted off field after injury coming off mound in 9th inning
SEATTLE (AP) — Seattle reliever Trent Thornton was injured while coming off the mound on a ground ball in the ninth inning Thursday night and was carted off the field during the Mariners' 6-0 win over the Texas Rangers. Thornton was using crutches to get around the Mariners' locker room after the game and the team did not have an official diagnosis of the lower left leg injury he sustained on the grounder hit by Adolis Garcia with two outs. Thornton said he feared it was a significant Achilles injury and that he would have an MRI on Friday. 'It's probably the Achilles, but that's just speculation, so I'll find out tomorrow,' Thornton said. 'Very frustrating.' Thornton entered the game to start the eighth inning and retired the first five batters he faced. The right-hander then had a full count on Garcia before the righty hitter hit a grounder on his 95 mph fastball on the lower outside corner. 'I threw the pitch, and as soon as I turned, I thought I broke the guy's bat and it hit me in the back of the leg, and I fell,' Thornton said. On 7th match point, Alex Michelsen prevails in Toronto

Sokolowski-Imagn Images) Alex Michelsen pulled off a comeback for a notable upset in the third round of the National Bank Open at Toronto on Thursday, but getting to the finish was no easy feat. The 26th-seeded U.S. player emerged with a 3-6, 7-6 (4), 6-4 win over third-seeded Lorenzo Musetti of Italy, closing it out on his seventh match point. Up 5-3 in the third set, Michelsen squandered two match points on Musetti's serve, then needed five more match points on his own serve (while turning aside two break points for Musetti) before finally ending the 2-hour, 32-minute contest. The ending reflected a match in which Michelsen, 20, took advantage of just 2 of 9 break-point opportunities while Musetti, 23, was 2 of 12 on break-point chances. Michelsen leaned on his groundstrokes for the win. 'I am a big guy, I have got to play offensive tennis,' he said. 'Especially today, you can't give a guy like Lorenzo time to bully you around from the baseline, so I was trying to bully him around and I think in the second and third sets I did a really good job. Taking shots early. I was missing a couple but you can't make them all and I was doing a really good job executing.' Michelsen moves on to the fourth round of an ATP 1000 event for the first time. Next, he will meet fellow U.S. player Learner Tien, who beat countryman Reilly Opelka 7-6 (3), 6-3 on Thursday. 'The first time in the fourth round feels really good,' Michelsen said. 'I have put a lot of hard work in and it is finally starting to pay off a little bit. I was wondering when it would happen and I guess it is starting to happen right now.'
