Lumpy Skin Disease Detected in Akola District: Prohibitory Orders Enforced
The report was submitted by the office of the joint commissioner (animal husbandry disease investigation), Pune. In response, these villages have been declared 'controlled zones', and prohibitory orders have been issued to restrict movement and related activities.
As per the directive issued by district collector Ajit Kumbhar, areas within a 10km radius of each infection site have been categorized into infected and surveillance zones.
Strict preventive measures have been put in place to contain the spread.
Movement of bovine animals like cows and buffaloes in and out of these controlled areas has been strictly prohibited. This restriction also extends to fodder, animal hides, and by-products that may have come into contact with infected animals.
Cattle markets, races, fairs, and exhibitions have been banned in these areas until further notice.

Home guard job aspirant dies during fitness test
1 2 Bhubaneswar: A recruitment drive for home guards turned tragic when a 41-year-old aspirant died while undertaking a fitness test in Khurda on Friday. Police identified the deceased as Imadul Haque Khan, a resident of Keranga area in Khurda district. Khan was among 1,614 candidates selected for the fitness test, which was being held since Tuesday. This is the sixth such death during recruitment exams in the state since March. Khan used to work in a private company in Khurda on a monthly salary of around Rs 10,000. The only earning member in the family, he is survived by two children, a 7-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter, wife and mother. A home guard job fetches a monthly salary of Rs 18,360. Candidates were required to complete a 1,600-metre run within 12 minutes near the Taratua reserve police grounds. "Unfortunately, Khan fell ill during the run and collapsed. Despite being rushed to Khurda district headquarters hospital and subsequently to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar, he could not be saved," Khurda SP Sagarika Nath told TOI. In light of previous incidents where five men have lost their lives during similar recruitment drives for home guards, foresters, and forest guards in different parts of the state, police said they had adopted all necessary precautions for the fitness test. "The recruitment venue was strategically chosen within a 400m radius of the district headquarters hospital to ensure immediate medical assistance. An ambulance equipped with an oxygen support system, paramedics, and a team of doctors were stationed at the site," Nath said. The running tests were scheduled between 6 am and 10 am under cloudy skies with normal humidity levels. "Adequate drinking water and staff support were available every 400m along the 1.6 km course. Prior to the test, candidates underwent physical screening by doctors and submitted self-declaration forms regarding their health status," the SP added. Sahadeb Mohanty, a retired police officer, emphasised the need for candidates to be transparent about their medical conditions. "Those with heart ailments, blood pressure issues, or other underlying health conditions should refrain from participating in rigorous fitness tests. Of 75 districts, Noida at 72nd spot in malnutrition drive
Noida: Noida, often synonymous with luxury and high-rise living, has found itself grappling with a stark reality — a dismal performance in the state's malnutrition drive. It has ranked 72nd out of 75 districts in UP under Sambhav Abhiyan, a campaign aimed at identifying and treating malnourished children. During a review meeting of the district nutrition committee on Thursday, chief development officer (CDO) Shivakant Dwivedi expressed strong dissatisfaction with the district's performance. He issued a directive to officials, giving them 15 days to elevate Noida's ranking into the top 10. The July progress report, presented by district programme officer Tarun Verma, revealed that while the height and weight of 92% of the district's children were measured, 747 were identified as severely malnourished (SAM) and 3,427 as moderately malnourished (MAM).
