Fleetwood Mac's ‘Rumours' Brings The Band To A Never-Before-Seen Peak

Forbes2 days ago

Fleetwood Mac's Rumours climbs to a new peak of No. 27 on Billboard's Top Streaming Albums chart, a ... More new peak for the band and the blockbuster full-length. Rumours by Fleetwood Mac is not the average blockbuster album. It has ranked as one of the bestselling full-lengths of all time for decades, and it appeals to such a wide audience that the set has found a firm grounding on streaming platforms as well. That kind of success is extremely rare for any traditional LP from the 1970s, and even uncommon for greatest hits compilations.
What's even more amazing is that as time passes, Rumours only seems to grow in popularity on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and others.
Rumours climbs on the Top Streaming Albums chart this week in the United States, as Fleetwood Mac's 1977 project jumps from No. 31 to No. 27. That marks a new high point not just for the full-length, but for the band overall, as the pop-rockers have only ever sent one title to Billboard's ranking of the most-streamed projects in the country.
Just last week, Rumours dipped slightly, falling from No. 30 to No. 31. The previous frame, it had risen to a new peak of No. 30. Now, just days later, it has soared even higher.
Rumours can currently be found on half a dozen Billboard rankings in the U.S., and it climbs on two of them, including the Top Streaming Albums list. The fan favorite also lifts one spot on the Billboard 200, landing at No. 24. At the same time, it declines on both the Top Album Sales and Vinyl Albums charts, while holding steady on the Top Rock & Alternative Albums and Top Rock Albums rosters.
Interestingly, Rumours is the one Fleetwood Mac title to reach the Top Streaming Albums chart, even though the group has released a number of popular compilations gathering the band's biggest hits. This week, the outfit's Greatest Hits is a non-mover on a trio of album tallies, but it doesn't manage to break into the Top Streaming Albums roster. Apparently, that spot is reserved, perhaps indefinitely, for Rumours.

Review: Jean Smart, Gritty and Poetic in ‘Call Me Izzy'

Two things can happen when a big star appears in a small play. She can crush it, or she can crush it. The first is almost literal: She leaves the story in smithereens beneath her glamorous feet. The second is colloquial: She's a triumph, lifting the story to her level. Returning to Broadway after 25 years in 'Call Me Izzy,' which opened Thursday at Studio 54, Jean Smart crushes it in the good way. Naturally, Smart plays the title character, a poor Louisiana housewife who writes poems on the sly. In the manner of such vehicles, she also plays everyone else, including Ferd (her abusive husband), Rosalie (a nosy neighbor), Professor Heckerling (a community college instructor) and the Levitsbergs (a couple who have endowed a poetry fellowship). You could probably write the play from that information alone, but I'm not sure you'd achieve the level of old-fashioned floweriness and deep-dish pathos that the actual author, Jamie Wax, has achieved. For this is quite self-consciously a weepie, one that with its allusions to Melville's lyrical prose ('Moby-Dick' begins with the phrase 'Call me Ishmael') aspires to poetry itself. The play's first words are an incantation: six synonyms for 'blue' as Izzy drops toilet cleaner tablets in the tank. ('Swirlin' cerulean' is one.) Shakespeare comes next, after a visit to a local library she didn't know existed. Ears opened, she is soon devising sonnets of her own. This she does in secret, lest Ferd, who sees her hobby as a betrayal, should discover the evidence and beat her up. (He has been doing that with some regularity since their infant son died years earlier.) In a detail that's a few orders of magnitude too cute, Izzy's sanctum is the bathroom, where she scratches out her lines in eyebrow pencil, on reams of toilet paper. Want all of The Times? 3 great free movies to stream this weekend (June 13-15)

After a promising May, the box office got off to a strong start last week thanks to Lilo & Stitch, Ballerina, and Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning. None of those films will be the No. 1 movie this weekend. That title will belong to How to Train Your Dragon, the live-action remake of the beloved animated film. Get out to your theater this weekend if you're able. If not, save some money, download a FAST service, and stream a free movie. Our picks this weekend are a sentimental documentary about a music legend, a potential masterpiece from an Oscar winner, and a '90s action thriller. Recommended Videos We also have guides to the best new movies to stream, the best movies on Netflix, the best movies on Hulu, the best movies on Amazon Prime Video, the best movies on Max, and the best movies on Disney+. Brian Wilson: Long Promised Road (2021) The world lost a musical icon this past week. Brian Wilson, one of the co-founders of the Beach Boys, died at the age of 82. Wilson is one of the most influential musicians, producers, and songwriters. Don't believe me? Ask Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Sir Elton John, and dozens more about Wilson's impact on music. They'll all say one word: legend. The best documentary about the Beach Boys' multi-hyphenate is Brian Wilson: Long Promised Road. It's an intimate portrayal of Wilson that takes viewers down memory lane, revisiting seminal moments of his career. It's a must-see for any Beach Boys fan or music junkie. Stream Brian Wilson: Long Promised Road on Pluto TV. Interstellar (2014) Christopher Nolan won his long overdue Oscar for Oppenheimer. It's a testament to Nolan's talent that Oppenheimer might not crack the top three for some fans. Judging by the box office haul from the rerelease, Interstellar might be Nolan's defining movie. At the very least, it's his most personal. With Earth facing extinction, former pilot Cooper (Matthew McConaughey) agrees to work for NASA and pilot a mission through a wormhole near Saturn. The hope is that a planet on the other side will become humanity's new home. From the performances and the direction to the score and visuals, Interstellar is a borderline masterpiece. Stream Interstellar for free on Pluto TV. Under Siege (1992) Considering how far he's fallen off the deep end, it's easy to forget that Steven Seagal became a legitimate action star in the early '90s. Under Siege is by far his best movie. Directed by The Fugitive's Andrew Davis, Under Siege follows Casey Ryback, a former Navy SEAL working as a cook on the battleship USS Missouri. While at sea, a former CIA operative infiltrates the ship with his band of terrorists and takes control of the Missouri. The renegades thought they had their bases covered. Yet they forgot about Ryback, who becomes a one-man army and fights to take back the ship. Stream Under Siege for free on Tubi.

Young Thug Flips The Bird At Stranger Seemingly Over Mariah The Scientist

Mariah The Scientist may be heating up the charts with her hit single, 'Burning Blue,' but something else has Young Thug's blood boiling. The couple walked the red carpet at the 2025 BET Awards with Thugger wearing an animal mask. After he complimented a fellow guest who expressed pleasantries towards the couple, it seems someone may have asked the singer to stop for a question. However, the rapper flipped off someone and barked, 'We not doin that, c'mon' before pulling Mariah away. Fans shared their concern in comments of the video. 'Mariah has a hit out right now. Thug you trippin. Let her shine,' one wrote. Someone else defended the 'Money On Money' rapper. 'Somebody said something weird. He flipped them the bird and was leaving the situation like he learned to do .. what's the problem .. stay and become content and get violated on probation .. nah he did right,' they replied. It's unclear what exactly transpired, but this footage surfaced as the YSL case was laid to rest— over three years after Thug's initial arrest. Billboard reported, 'More than three years after Young Thug, Gunna and dozens of others were indicted in Atlanta on gang charges, Thug's last co-defendant has pleaded guilty.' The outlet noted that a trial for Christian Eppinger, who was accused of attempted murder for allegedly shooting an Atlanta police officer in 2022, was set to begin on Monday (June 9). However, he entered what's called an Alford plea, which allowed him to technically plead guilty while maintaining that he is innocent; he was then sentenced to 40 years in prison.
