He praised the fruitful cooperation in academic and scientific research fields, which contributes to advancing higher education in both brotherly countries. His Highness commended the efforts of Egypt's Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and its support for establishing the University of Sharjah branch in Cairo Governorate, affirming that the University of Sharjah is among the leading universities in the Arab world. He added that choosing Egypt as the first country to host a branch reflects the high academic and scientific standing Egypt holds for the Emirate of Sharjah. For his part, H.E. Dr. Ayman Ashour welcomed the President of the University of Sharjah, emphasizing the depth of Egyptian–Emirati relations and expressing Egypt's aspiration to expand these ties through strengthened academic and research partnerships between the two countries. The Egyptian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research highlighted the importance of supporting academic and research collaboration between Egyptian and Emirati educational institutions, stressing the need to enhance communication channels between the two sides to broaden opportunities for scientific partnerships that serve both nations' priorities and contribute to building human capacities. The meeting discussed ways to strengthen academic cooperation between the University of Sharjah and Egyptian higher education institutions, including opportunities for faculty and expertise exchange, as well as launching joint academic programs that serve students and meet labor market requirements. They also explored opportunities for student exchange visits between the University of Sharjah and Egyptian universities across various academic programs, enabling students to experience diverse educational environments and participate in academic and cultural activities that enrich their scientific and personal growth. In addition, the discussions addressed expanding cooperation in scientific research through proposed initiatives such as joint research projects, specialized conferences, and workshops, thereby supporting innovation, knowledge production, and solutions to societal and scientific challenges. 'You are not welcome': Ibiza property agent rejects booking linked to 'Israeli' renters
A real estate agent in Ibiza has canceled a holiday rental for a group of clients after learning that two of them were 'Israeli' nationals, telling them they would not be welcome 'until the genocide in Palestine stops,' according to a report by 'Israel's' Kan 11 news. The dispute began when one of the clients contacted the agent to ask about a partial cancellation, citing 'the war in our country' as the reason. The agent pressed for clarification on their nationality, and when told two members of the group were from 'Israel', she refused to proceed with the booking. In text exchanges shared by local media, the agent stated, 'I'm sorry, but you are not welcome until the genocide with Palestine stops.' She also informed them she would donate the 2,500 euro (almost USD 3,000) security deposit they had paid to support Palestine. She later blocked the group from all communication channels. According to the messages, the rest of the group, who were reportedly from France, were offered the chance to proceed with the booking, but declined.

Jordan condemns Israeli minister's approval of E1 settlement plan
AMMAN — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has 'strongly' condemned the approval by Israeli far-right finance minister Bezalel Smotrich a controversial settlement plan in the E1 area near Jerusalem, calling it a 'clear violation of international law and a threat to regional stability.' In a statement on Thursday, the ministry denounced Smotrich's endorsement of the plan, as well as his recent remarks rejecting the establishment of a Palestinian state, labeling them as "racist and extremist." The ministry also reiterated that such actions undermine the rights of the Palestinian people to an independent, sovereign state along the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, and emphasised that Israel has no sovereignty over occupied Palestinian territories. Smotrich has said he will approve plans to build more than 3,000 homes in a controversial settlement project in the occupied West Bank, saying the move 'buries the idea of a Palestinian state'. The ministry spokesperson Sufian Qudah voiced the Kingdom's "categorical rejection" of the settlement plan and all other unilateral Israeli measures, saying that the move constitutes a "blatant breach" of international law and United Nations Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2334, which deems Israeli settlement activity in occupied territory illegal. Qudah also cited the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice, which calls for an end to the Israeli occupation and affirms the illegality of annexing Palestinian land. He warned that the Israeli government's continued expansionist policies in the occupied West Bank risk further fueling cycles of violence and instability in the region. The spokesperson urged the international community to shoulder its legal and moral responsibilities by pressuring Israel to halt its escalation in Gaza and the West Bank, protect Palestinian civilians, and support their legitimate right to statehood. He also called for accountability for ongoing violations against the Palestinian people. The so-called E1 project between Jerusalem and Maale Adumim settlement has been frozen for decades amid international opposition. According to Palestinian media, building the settlement would cut off the West Bank from occupied East Jerusalem. Settlements are considered illegal under international law. Smotrich, who is also a minister in Israel's ministry of defence, and national security minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, were sanctioned by the UK over "repeated incitements of violence against Palestinian communities" in the occupied West Bank.
