Elon Musk's Tesla has officially hit the Indian roads in Mumbai, a day after the American electric vehicle (EV) giant opened its first showroom in the financial capital.
On Wednesday, the company's official X (formerly Twitter) account shared an image of the Tesla Model Y. In the background was the famous Mumbai local train. The vehicle appeared parked on the roadside.
The post also featured an " Order Now" link. Tesla's much-awaited India debut came after long negotiations with the Indian government over pricing and import duties.

The "Order Now" prompt didn't sit well with several users on social media.
One person commented, "What do you mean by order now? Is that how people order cars? Or I'm too poor to understand this."

The EV maker inaugurated its first showroom at Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). The registration for the Tesla Model Y has already begun, with deliveries expected next month.
The brand will provide both long-range and rear-wheel drive (RWD) models for sale in India. The starting price for the RWD version of the car is Rs 59.89 lakh, while the long-range model will cost Rs 67.89 lakh, including a 70 per cent tariff. It delivers a range of up to 622 km on a single charge and can gain up to 267 km of range in just 15 minutes because of fast charging.
Some users also questioned why the Tesla Model Y was priced nearly twice its cost in the US.
One person wrote, "USA= Rs 39 lakh, China= Rs 31.5 lakh. Why in India it is Rs 60 Lakhs", Why So Expensive."

Taking up around 2.7 lakh sq ft of space at Embassy Group's Embassy Zenith project for a 10-year term, Apple India has taken the lease of the space at massive value of over Rs 1,000 crore, setting a new benchmark with rates touching Rs 235 per sq ft per month. Why is Apple India paying Rs 1000 crore for space in Bengaluru? As per media reports, the Apple India Rs 1000 crore deal covers nine floors (5th to 13th) with a carpet area of 1.96 lakh sq ft and includes 362 parking slots in the Prestige Estates Projects' commercial building at Prestige Minsk Square. The Man Who Loved the Edsel So Much That He Bought Three

I like oddball cars, what some people call orphan cars. These are car brands that no longer exist, like Studebaker and Pontiac. I have a collection of unusual stuff and as I was building it, I realized I did not have any cars from Ford Motor Company. What would be more appropriate than an Edsel? Edsel was a division of Ford that only existed for three model years, and an orphan car that is different from just about everything else on the road. The story starts back in the 1950s, when the economy was booming and car sales were high. Ford executives decided to expand their product line. The thinking was, they wanted a car that was different than anything else, a distinct car you could spot a block away and instantly know what it was. They wanted this car to be state of the art. Kirkel believes his 1959 Edsel was used as a jewelry-store thieves' getaway car, before they were busted in Nebraska. The restored 1959 Edsel's interior, with furry dice added. The name comes from Henry Ford's son Edsel Ford, who was president of the company before he died in 1943. When the Edsel came out in September of 1957 as a 1958 model, the company left no stone unturned. They were planning for the long haul, and there was tremendous fanfare. Ford marked the launch by calling for a nationwide 'E-Day,' on Sept. 4, 1957. There were problems right away, however. For one, a recession hit about the same time as the car, hurting sales. The Edsel had been rushed to market, and it got a bad reputation due to reliability problems. Some people complained about the styling, that the vertical grille looked like a horse collar or even a toilet seat. After model year 1960, the car was discontinued. For years, the Edsel has been held up as an example of failure. But collectors have come around to these cars. When I decided I wanted one, I joined an Edsel club so I could meet people and find out what cars might be out there. About 10 years ago, I was going through the Edsel club newsletter when I came across an ad for a 1959 Edsel Corsair convertible. I called the guy, who was in Nebraska. He told me about the history and the pictures looked good, so I bought the car and had him ship it to me. I can still remember the day it arrived. The car has a fascinating history. According to the story I was told, it was used as a jewelry store heist getaway car, in California. The thieves got as far as Nebraska, where they were caught, and the car ended up in a police impound lot, where it sat outside for 25 years. The guy I bought the car from bought it at a police auction, and he had restored it. 'The thing about this car is, it's like a bag of pretzels,' says Kirkel. 'You can't just eat one.'Kirkel's 1959 Edsel was the first he bought. The thing about this car is, it's like a bag of pretzels. You can't just eat one. Today, I own one Edsel for each of the three years of production: a 1958 Edsel Corsair, the 1959 jewelry store heist car, and a 1960 Edsel Ranger convertible, which is probably the most desirable, as only 76 of these models were built that year, before production ceased. In 1960, the car came without the vertical grille. Apparently, Henry Ford II told his executives, 'I don't care what you do with this car, but get rid of the horse collar grille!' I also built a replica of an Edsel dealership in a barn on my property. These cars are reasonably priced in the collector-car market, and of course, prices range according to the condition. I take my Edsels to car shows, and sometimes I just like to look at them. The Edsel was thought of as a failure in its day, but these cars bring a lot of joy to people now. Amazon to shut down Appstore on Android devices after 14 years: Here's what it means for users

The end is near for Amazon's Appstore on Android. On August 20, 2025, the tech giant will discontinue the service for non-Amazon Android devices, officially closing the chapter on a 14-year run, reported The Street. First launched in 2011, the Appstore was introduced as an alternative to Google Play and Apple's App Store. Amazon is officially discontinuing its Android Appstore.(Unsplash) Amazon's Appstore allowed users to download apps, purchase games, and make in-app transactions, often using Amazon Coins, a digital currency that gave customers discounted purchases. But after years of lagging behind the competition, Amazon has decided to focus its energy on its ecosystem of devices, where most of its users already engage with the Appstore. 'No Guarantee' apps will work after August 20 Amazon, The Street report added, has warned customers that any apps downloaded through the Appstore on Android may stop functioning reliably once support ends. The company stated on their website that, apart from the downloads, any updates for apps installed from the store will also end. The shift means many users will have to turn to the Google Play Store for replacements or risk losing functionality in their existing applications. Also read: Why Amazon's Massive Retail Business Is No Longer Enough Refunds for Amazon Coins One of the Appstore's unique features was Amazon Coins, a digital currency customers could use to purchase apps, games, and add-ons. With the shutdown, Amazon confirmed that any unused Coins will be automatically refunded after August 20, according to another Android Central report. The decision came after Amazon's earlier move to remove Appstore from Microsoft's Windows 11 platform back in March as part of its gradual retreat from non-Amazon devices. Where will Amazon Appstore remain functional? While Android users are poised to lose access, Amazon emphasized that the Appstore will not be disappearing entirely. It will continue to function on Fire Tablets, Fire TVs, and other Amazon devices, which the company said account for the overwhelming majority of Appstore activity. The report stated that a company spokesperson explained in February that the discontinuation is being undertaken so they can focus on the Appstore experience on their own devices, since that's where the 'overwhelming majority' of customers engage with the service. Amazon's bigger push into its ecosystem The move fits into Amazon's larger plan to direct customers to its own platforms and services. Just last month, the company started merging its Freevee streaming content into Prime Video, closing the standalone Freevee app. Amazon's second-quarter earnings report highlighted this shift. Revenue from subscription services, including Prime Video, e-books, and audiobooks, increased by nearly 11% year-over-year to $12.2 billion. Product sales also grew by almost 10%. By combining services and encouraging users to choose its own devices, Amazon is focused on creating a tightly controlled ecosystem. FAQs When will the Amazon Appstore for Android shut down? The shutdown is scheduled for August 20, 2025. Will apps downloaded from the Amazon Appstore still work? Amazon says they are 'not guaranteed' to work after support ends, and no further updates will be provided. What happens to unused Amazon Coins? All remaining Amazon Coins will be refunded automatically after August 20. Will the App Store disappear completely? No. The Appstore will continue to operate on Amazon's Fire Tablets, Fire TVs, and similar devices. Why is Amazon making this change? Amazon says the majority of Appstore engagement comes from its own devices, making it more efficient to focus on that ecosystem.
