Coronation Street's Katie McGlynn SPLITS with Towie star boyfriend after two years of dating and engagement rumours

Katie, who started dating former reality star Ricky after meeting on a cruise ship in 2023, have decided to call time on their romance, despite sparking engagement rumours last February.

But in recent months, the pair have deleted all trace of each other from their social media.
"Katie and Ricky have ended their romance, they're still friends and want to remain civil but in terms of a romantic relationship, it's definitely over," a source told the MailOnline.
They added that they found it "difficult" to maintain a long distance relationship, with Katie in Manchester and Ricky in Essex.
The Sun has reached out to Katie and Ricky's reps for comment.
Last February, speculation started to mount that the former soap star and reality star were about to head down the aisle, after she was pictured with a sparkler on her ring finger.
It came after The Sun exclusively revealed Katie and TOWIE alum Ricky had been dating for four months, following a video emerging of them kissing in the street.
Speaking at the time, an onlooker suggested they very much seemed to be an item.
They said: "They very much looked like girlfriend and boyfriend. They were holding hands, having a laugh and even had a little kiss as they walked amongst other Saturday afternoon shoppers."
The pair are thought to have first met on holiday in October 2023 and have seemingly grown inseparable since then.
It was on another holiday, in July of this year, that the pair once again showed they're more than happy to put their love on display for all the world to see.
On a cruise to the Greek islands Katie, whose birthday is on July 16, suggested Ricky had taken her away for a birthday treat.
Katie, who played Sinead Tinker in Corrie, captioned another picture of them kissing with: "Making memories with you is the best birthday present a gal could ask for."
Last year, her spokesperson denied that she and Ricky had got engaged, and said any confusion stemmed from Katie's penchant for wearing jewellery on different fingers.
They said: "Katie and Ricky are very happy together, but they are not engaged.
"Katie likes to wear various rings and jewellery and just happened to wear one on her ring finger."

MasterChef series filmed last year to be broadcast in August, BBC confirms

An upcoming series of MasterChef which was filmed last year before allegations against Gregg Wallace and John Torode were upheld will be broadcast on BBC One and BBC iPlayer from August 6. A decision on airing the celebrity series and Christmas special has not been decided, with plans to be confirmed later in the year, the BBC said. A BBC spokesperson said: 'After careful consideration and consultation with the contestants, we have decided to broadcast the amateur series of MasterChef on BBC One and BBC iPlayer from 6 August. 'MasterChef is an amazing competition which is life-changing for the amateur chefs taking part. The focus of it has always been their skill and their journey. 'This has not been an easy decision in the circumstances and we appreciate not everyone will agree with it. In showing the series, which was filmed last year, it in no way diminishes our view of the seriousness of the upheld findings against both presenters. We have been very clear on the standards of behaviour that we expect of those who work at the BBC or on shows made for the BBC. 'However, we believe that broadcasting this series is the right thing to do for these cooks who have given so much to the process. We want them to be properly recognised and give the audience the choice to watch the series. 'At this stage we have not taken a decision on the celebrity series and Christmas special, which was filmed earlier this year, and we will confirm our plans later in the year. 'Most importantly MasterChef is a brilliant, much-loved programme which is bigger than any one individual. There are many talented, dedicated and hard-working people who make the show what it is. It will continue to flourish on the BBC and we look forward to it returning stronger than ever in the future.' The statement followed news last week that John Torode's contract on MasterChef would not be renewed, as confirmed by the BBC and production company Banijay UK. Torode confirmed he was the subject of an allegation of using racist language that was upheld as part of a review carried out by law firm Lewis Silkin into the alleged behaviour of his co-presenter Gregg Wallace. Torode said he had 'no recollection of the incident' and was 'shocked and saddened' by the allegation. In November 2024, the show's production company, Banijay UK, announced Wallace would step away from his role on the BBC cooking show while historical allegations of misconduct were investigated. Wallace issued an apology saying he is 'deeply sorry for any distress caused' and that he 'never set out to harm or humiliate' in the wake of a report that saw 45 out of 83 allegations made against him upheld. Torode began presenting the BBC cooking contest alongside Gregg Wallace in 2005.

ITV Coronation Street star shares emotional tribute after colleague's sad death

Antony Cotton has paid tribute to his former colleague Matthew Owens after he passed away aged 38, who worked on the set of the popular soap. Coronation Street actor Antony Cotton has paid a heartfelt tribute to his colleague Matthew Owens, 38, who sadly passed away. Matthew worked on the set of the ITV soap as a fire safety advisor and other BBC programmes. ‌ Antony, who is famed for his role as Sean Tully, took to social media to share a tribute to honour his pal. Alongside a photo from the order of service from the funeral, which confirmed Matthew passed away earlier this month on July 7, the actor wrote a touching tribute. ‌ He said on Instagram: "Today was a very hard day for so many people, especially Matt's family. I still can't quite get my head round it, to be honest. Matt was just a really, really nice lad. We met when he did the fire safety for a stunt block at Coronation Street, 13 years ago and we've been friends ever since. ‌ "He was a much-loved son, brother, dad, colleague and partner. He was also a quiet and humble, solid friend. I'll miss hearing from you Matt, out of the blue sometimes, but always with a smile. You are at rest now, no more worries, Matty Boy." Fans and friends rushed to the comments section to honour Matthew as reported by the Mirror, with one user posting: "Sorry for your loss mate. Condolences to his friends and family." ‌ One person who had attended the funeral added, "I did the funeral today, I was one of the family limo drivers, I saw how sad you were, gave you a little smile, very emotional day. So many people attended, you could tell he was very loved." Another fan wrote: "Just reading this news, I didn't know Matt had passed, really sad news. He was always so helpful and a joy to work with, helped me out lots with projects. Sending love to his family." Matthew leaves behind his partner Amy and his young son Freddie, 11. In an emotional tribute to the late firefighter, fire stations throughout Staffordshire put their flags up at half-mast. He served as a fireman at Cannock Fire Station. ‌ The Corrie set-worker also ran a company that supplied fire safety training, extras and props to the BBC and ITV. In 2013, he worked on setting the iconic Rovers Return pub ablaze. In the dramatic storyline, the pub blaze left Stella Price and Sunita Alahan trapped, whilst Karl abandoned Sunita in the cellar to perish. Matthew also even coached Corrie actor Tony Hirst on how to perform a fireman's lift for the harrowing scenes. ‌ Stella made it out alive and was rushed to hospital, however Karl later killed her when he removed her breathing equipment so she couldn't disclose who started the blaze. Matthew previously remarked about working on set: "It's all a bit surreal being there on the set and on camera. At one point we were standing outside The Rovers Return, just watching it burn. "Normally as firefighters, we'd get to the scene and be putting the fire out. It was unreal just watching the fire, especially at such an iconic pub. "It was a hard three weeks working on the set, we were there from February 11 to last Tuesday. The first week we were working all night, from 3pm to 5am. The second week was all days, doing inside shots and the last week tidying bits up."

This Morning viewers left cringing as Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary do karaoke

This Morning viewers were left wondering just what was happening when its hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary burst into song during Wednesday's episode This Morning viewers were left wondering just what was happening during an unexpected karaoke segment on Wednesday morning. ‌ Hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary were joined by Tom Swarbrick and Camilla Tominey for a chat about the nation's favourite karaoke songs. Dermot gave a quick rendition of Bon Jovi classic Livin' On A Prayer, whilst Camillla struggled through I Wanna Dance With Somebody by Whitney Houston. ‌ Alison had got up to perform River Deep Mountain High, but it appeared to have been the wrong song as she sat back down and Dermot exclaimed: "God knows what is going to happen now!" Things took an even more surprising turn when all four hosts took it upon themselves to perform Mr. Brightside by The Killers, during which Dermot stormed across the studio and jumped onto the sofa. ‌ Next up, Tom performed How You Remind Me by Nickelback before Alison noted they had 'run out of time' for any more as she sent the show to an ad break. But the bizarre segment did not go down entirely well with viewers, who took to social media to give their opinion. One viewer wrote simply claimed they had 'died from cringe' after watching the karaoke session, and another wondered: "What am I watching here?" A third social media user demanded: "What have we done to endure this punishment!" and another said: "What the actual f***am i watching? god oh almighty", whilst another pleaded with the broadcaster to "make it stop". One viewer compared the segment to "bad X Factor auditions", and took particular aim at Dermot, who hosted the talent show during its height in the late 2000s. ‌ They wrote: "That was a performance worthy of an X Factor 2010 YouTube compilation of bad auditions", whilst another quipped: "What a bad day to have ears". Another claimed: "Dermot is forgetting he is on TV!" But it wasn't all bad, as one viewer found the fun in the light-hearted segment, and they wrote: "Dermot and Allison are so unserious on #ThisMorning I love it, they treat it like a day out!" Moments later, when Coronation Street actress and West End star Jodie Prenger was preparing to go behind the scenes of London's new musical Hercules, Dermot joked: "God, we could have done with them during karaoke," whilst Alison noted what a 'beautiful' voice the soap star has. ‌ The whole item came off the back of a study that revealed the greatest singalong songs of all time. Put together by Oxford professor Dr Tom Crawford, the custom formula factored in how fast the beat was, number of verses, chorus repeats and even the release date of the song. "My research showed a preference for a faster pace, with an average beats per minute of 126, as well as a ratio of three chorus repetitions for every two verses,' he said. 'This fits with the standard structure of most pop songs - hence why you'll see your favourites scoring highly!' Livin' On A Prayer took top spot with a score of 91 out of a possible 100, closely followed by Whitney Houston's I Wanna Dance with Somebody (90). In third place was Oasis' iconic Don't Look Back In Anger (89). Dr Crawford devised his formula using research from a poll of 2,000 karaoke lovers, commissioned by mobile giant Three and suicide prevention charity Samaritans. ‌ The study found 90 per cent of people feel happier after a sing-along, with 81 per cent getting an emotional uplift and 70 per cent finding it therapeutic. And the research also identified the best year for karaoke gold. 'With ABBA dominating the 70s, through to Adele in the 2010s, the average release year of a karaoke classic is 1995,' Dr Crawford said. 'This captures the boyband craze, as well as Brit pop with Oasis, and girl power in the form of the Spice Girls, showing there's some serious maths behind a killer karaoke belter!' Three and Samaritans are running the Kathartic Karaoke initiative to support people with their mental health There will be a special booth at the Latitude Festival in Suffolk (July 24 to 27) and The Mound at Edinburgh Fringe (August 15 and 16). Nicki Lyons, Chief Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Officer at VodafoneThree, said: 'As the Official Connectivity Partner of some of the UK's biggest festivals this summer, we understand the power and importance of making connections that matter, whether it's through technology or shared experiences like music. We are delighted to be partnering with Samaritans for the first time at music festivals, to create joyful spaces for people to connect to one another and experience our 'Kathartic Karaoke' for themselves.'
