Guwahati-Dibrugarh & Jorhat-Delhi morning flights from Sept 20: CM
Dibrugarh: CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday announced that a morning flight will operate, starting from Sept 20, between Guwahati and Dibrugarh. Additionally, regular morning flights will begin along the Delhi–Jorhat and Guwahati–Silchar routes, the CM said, adding that efforts will be made to introduce evening flights as well.
Responding to recent allegations by Jorhat MP Gaurav Gogoi regarding the govt's handling of the situation in Dhubri and it being orchestrated by RSS-BJP forces, Sarma strongly refuted the claims, accusing Gogoi of politicising sensitive issues. "How can a Hindu person slaughter a cow, sever the head and throw it in front of a temple? And what about the rest of the carcass? The act seems deliberately staged," the CM said, dismissing the MP's accusation.
Speaking about the long-standing demand for preservation of Rupkonwar Jyoti Prasad Agarwala's ancestral home at Tamulbari, Sarma said while such initiatives become formal govt projects when taken up officially, local communities and organisations should ideally take the lead in preserving cultural heritage. "I will see what can be done from the govt's side as well," Sarma said.
Regarding the functioning of Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL), Sarma said the public sector unit was currently surviving on govt support, while running at a loss. On ensuring proper ethnic representation in autonomous councils, the CM reiterated that Matak people will vote in the Matak council and Moran people in Moran council, preserving their integrity and representation.

ED raids Panvel BJP leader over ‘illegal' land transfer, pocketing Rs 42 cr compensation from NHAI
'The land parcels under subject matter are 41.70 hectares and 110.60 hectares in Panvel taluka of Raigad district. J.M. Mhatre transferred 1.86 hectares of land and received Rs 42.4 crore as compensation, and the other named accused in the police FIR, Saiyyed Mohammad Abdul Hamid Qadri, transferred 0.4225 Hectares of land and received Rs 9.69 crore in compensation from NHAI,' an ED official said. Through this illegal acquisition and transfer, Janardhan Moru Mhatre allegedly obtained a compensation amount of Rs 42.4 crore from the authority responsible for developing, maintaining, and managing the national highways. Two of these premises under search are in Panvel, while the remaining one is in Dadar. New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) Tuesday carried out searches at three premises linked to a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader as part of an investigation into illegal acquisition of forest land and subsequent transfers to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in Maharashtra. Last month, Mhatre, who was with the Peasants and Workers Party of India (PWP), joined the BJP along with scores of supporters in Maharashtra's Raigad district. He was the former president of the Panvel Municipal Council. His son Pritam contested the last assembly polls from Uran as the PWP candidate and came a close second to BJP's Mahesh Baldi. The ED's money laundering case stems from an First Information Report (FIR) filed by the Navi Mumbai Police in September last year that booked Mhatre and Qadri under Sections 3(5) (joint liability), 318 (4) (cheating) and 61 (criminal conspiracy) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The FIR was filed on the basis of a complaint from Raigarh's Range Forest Officer (RFO), who accused the duo of large-scale forgery. In his complaint to the Navi Mumbai Police, the RFO alleged that Mhatre pretended to be the rightful owner of said land parcels and handed over them to the NHAI in March 2018 and recouped a cheque of amount Rs 42.4 crore from the NHAI. On the other hand, Qadri allegedly recouped Rs 9.69 crore cheque from the NHAI for the land parcel that never belonged to him. In the same police complaint, the RFO alleged that Mhatre had on two occasions secured loans of Rs 7.75 crore and Rs 200 crore even before the land was transferred to the NHAI. The lid was blown off when the Alibag deputy conservator of forests sent a letter to NHAI's project director in January last year informing about the illegal acquisition and transfer of the compensation amount. Subsequently, the Alibag deputy conservator of forests ordered the RFO to file a police complaint against Mhatre and Qadri. Mhatre is accused of acquiring the land illegally, without prior approval from the government as required, and later using it for several purposes such as mortgaging for bank loans and finally transferring it to the NHAI. PM Modi ended country's political instability that persisted since 1984: Javadekar
'Modi government recently completed 11 years at the Centre. We all need to understand the significance of these 11 years. The first thing is that Modi ji gave a stable government to the country. Since 1984, political instability had persisted, but Modi ji ended that by giving the country a stable government in 2014,' he said. Javadekar was addressing reporters in Pune on the completion of 11 years of the Modi government at the Centre. Pune, Jun 17 (PTI) Senior BJP leader and former Union minister Prakash Javadekar on Tuesday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi ended the political instability that had persisted since 1984 by providing the country with a stable government. 'This third term will continue till 2029, and we are confident that the BJP will win the upcoming terms as well,' he said. The government works round the clock with the motto of 'sabka saath, sabka vikas', he said. 'The greatest achievement of this government is that in all these 11 years, not a single Union minister has faced any serious allegations of corruption. This is no small feat. One can recall the days under the Congress-led UPA government when, every other day, allegations of corruption were levelled against ministers, many of whom had to resign,' he said. Javadekar asserted that India's stature on the global stage has risen under the Modi government. 'Internal security has improved in the past 11 years. Schemes like Make in India, Atmanirbhar Bharat in the defence sector, abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, and the rise of the Indian economy from 10th to 4th position globally are among the key achievements of this government,' he said. In 11 years, poor people were empowered as Rs 43 lakh crore were transferred to them through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), resulting in more than 30 crore people being lifted out of poverty, he added. The former minister said India sent a strong message to Pakistan's terror networks through surgical strikes, the Balakot air strikes and Operation Sindoor. The Modi government's other achievements include the revamp of Indian Railways, introduction of Vande Bharat trains, expansion of the metro rail services, reduction in bank NPAs, income tax relief for individuals earning up to Rs 12 lakh, provision of tap water connections, construction of toilets, opening of Jan Dhan accounts, and the launch of the UPI platform, according to him.
