Perak Govt Hopes Seri Iskandar Sports Complex Proposal Included In 13MP

PARIT, Aug 19 (Bernama) -- The construction of the Seri Iskandar Sports Complex, which has been underway since 2018, is expected to receive attention in the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) as one of the priority projects for sports development in Perak. State Education, Higher Education, Youth and Sports Committee chairman Khairudin Abu Hanipah said the project had been initiated during the leadership of former Parit Member of Parliament Datuk Mohd Nizar Zakaria before being continued by former exco Khairul Shahril Mohamed. '… now I personally take responsibility to ensure the continuity of the effort. Several series of site visits have been conducted with the Development Division of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS), the Perak State Youth and Sports Department (JBSN) and the Central Perak District and Land Office to identify a suitable location,' he said. bootstrap slideshow He said this at a press conference after greeting 68 participants of the Mercedes Classic Merdeka Convoy 2025 at Dataran Cempaka Sari near here, today. Khairudin said that among the efforts that had been initiated since 2018 included assessing the suitability of the location, but the proposed site submitted by the land office required a relatively high cost of land treatment. He said that if the location had been identified and land treatment had been carried out, a full application could be submitted and included in the Development Plan (RP) in the 13MP. Meanwhile, he said that his party had gone to the field twice with the KBS, JBSN Perak and district officers to assess the main site as well as another alternative site was being considered. He said that the construction of the complex was to fulfil the dream of the Perak Tengah community to have an integrated sports centre capable of organising state and national-level events, thus further enhancing the district's image as a new development hub in Perak. Previously, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Adam Adli Abdul Halim said that KBS was working with the Perak State Government to identify an alternative site for the proposed construction of a sports complex in Seri Iskandar.

Soccer-FIFPRO 'deeply concerned' over Indian league suspension, calls for swift resolution

(Reuters) -FIFPRO said on Tuesday it was "deeply concerned" by the growing uncertainty surrounding Indian professional soccer, urging swift action to resolve the indefinite suspension of the Indian Super League. The ISL, India's top-flight soccer league, was put on hold last month, with stalled negotiations for a contract renewal with its commercial partners, Reliance-led Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL), cited as the reason. Talks to renew the 2010 agreement came to a halt after India's Supreme Court asked the All India Football Federation not to renew the deal with FSDL until it had issued an order over a separate case to implement a new constitution for the federation. The situation worsened earlier this month when Bengaluru FC, the 2018-19 ISL champions, stopped paying the salaries of their first-team players and staff amid the league's uncertainty. "The lack of clarity for players over the 2025-26 ISL season, arising from a dispute over the league's organisation and governance that has led to its indefinite suspension, is having a significant impact on their livelihoods, careers, and wellbeing," FIFPRO said in a statement. "Players have been subjected to unilateral and unlawful suspensions of their employment contracts until further notice. These actions represent a direct breach of the players' labour rights and are causing significant distress." Reuters has contacted the AIFF and ISL organisers for comment. FIFPRO said it has been working closely with the Football Players' Association of India (FPAI) to address the players' concerns and has raised the matter with soccer's global governing body FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation. The union of professional footballers further urged the AIFF, FSDL and club owners to collaborate with the FPAI to confirm the ISL schedule and provide a clear road map for the season to commence. Additionally, it called on clubs to continue to meet all contractual obligations to players. (Reporting by Pearl Josephine Nazare in Bengaluru;Editing by Christian Radnedge)

Herry Uses Video Analysis To Prepare Doubles Pairs For 2025 World Championships

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 19 (Bernama) -- National men's doubles head coach Herry Iman Pierngadi has made video analysis a key approach to fine-tune his charges' strategy for the 2025 Badminton Championship in Paris set to begin on Aug 25. The approach helps to identify not only the strengths and weaknesses of opponents but also areas where his players can improve before stepping onto the court, he said. "I usually use video analysis to discuss our game plan against opponents with the players, and from this discussion, we can identify which aspects need improvement. This process helps us uncover minor differences that can be crucial for achieving victory on match day.
