Smriti Irani is returning as Tulsi Virani after 25 years. The former Union Minister shared the first look of her iconic character from Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 on social media, which gained widespread attention. In no time, fans rushed to the post to celebrate the comeback of one of Indian television's most iconic roles.
But beyond the excitement, her return also triggered political reactions online. Several Congress leaders and supporters used the announcement to take a swipe at Irani after her defeat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Amethi.

Congress spokesperson Surendra Rajput also shared a post in Hindi, saying that Congress is helping people return to their original professions.
'The Congress Party will ensure everyone gets their original jobs back. Those that the BJP had taken away from them, this is just the beginning, no one will remain unemployed! Smriti Irani returns in the avatar of 'Tulsi'! The first look of Smriti Irani's 'Kyunkii Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' – 2 has been revealed," he wrote on X.
Along with Congress leaders, some social media users have also shared similar posts mocking her.
One person wrote, 'Smriti Irani returns as Tulsi. Courtesy: Kishori Lal Sharma."

Kishori Lal Sharma is a veteran Congress worker and one of the most trusted aides of the Gandhi family. His political journey in Amethi began in 1983 when he was brought in through a Youth Congress programme launched by then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. Sharma was placed in charge of the Tiloi Assembly segment under the Amethi Lok Sabha constituency and remained closely involved in the party's work across Amethi and Rae Bareli.
After Rajiv Gandhi's death in 1991, Sharma continued to serve the Congress in the region. He played an important role in Sonia Gandhi's first electoral campaign from Amethi in 1999 and later helped manage constituency work in Rae Bareli as well.
Amethi and Rae Bareli have historically been strongholds for the Congress and the Gandhi family. But in 2019, the party suffered a major setback after Rahul Gandhi lost Amethi to Irani.
In the 2024 general elections, the Gandhi family did not contest from Amethi for the first time in decades. Kishori Lal Sharma was fielded by Congress in what was his debut election. Backed by his decades-long presence and organisational work in the region, Sharma contested from Amethi and won, which helped Congress reclaim the seat.
Speculation Over Smriti Irani's Political Future
Irani's return to television led to renewed speculation about her future in politics, especially after she was left out of the Modi 3.0 cabinet and lost the Amethi seat in the 2024 general elections. Many questioned whether the acting comeback marked a shift away from her political career.
But this is not the first time the Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi reboot was considered. Irani had earlier shared that the show was originally planned in 2014 but was delayed due to her ministerial responsibilities.
'There were two projects that I had walked away from. One was a movie that I was doing with the late Rishi Kapoor, and another one was Kyunki 2. The set was ready, but there was a phone call from the Prime Minister's office that you had to take an oath. So, I walked away from both of them. I remember Rishi Kapoor telling me to leave now because to serve your country is a greater service than just doing a movie or doing television," she said as quoted by Economic Times.
'I'm A Full-Time Politician, Part-Time Actor': Smriti Irani
In a recent interview, Irani directly addressed the assumptions around her return to acting. She stated clearly that acting is only a side project and that she continues to work actively within her party organisation.
'I am working in Amethi. You're given assignments within your organisation. My last assignment was in Bikaner. Before that I was dispatched to Ranchi, Jharkhand. So the organisation keeps giving you work and you have to work according to whatever your leadership decides," she said in an interview with NDTV.
She further said, 'I am a full-time politician and a part-time actor. It is a side project. For most consumers, the project is not one individual. It's always a group of actors coming together, a group of writers coming together. I am very humbly so the most recognisable face out of that mix of people, but I'm a full-time politician, a part-time actor — just like many politicians are part-time lawyers, part-time teachers, part-time journalists."
Drawing a comparison with fellow leaders, she added, 'The only difference between me and my other political colleagues is they are part-time lawyers and there's no videographer along with them. There's no makeup person along with them. There's no scriptwriter. It's just that we all are from different vocations. I'm just the one in the spotlight."

Hanumankind on why Big Dawgs fame still feels unreal: 'It wasn't planned, the universe unfolded it'

When Big Dawgs blew up last year around the same time, Sooraj Cherukat aKa Hanumankind wasn't ready — not for the scale, not for the speed, and definitely not for the way strangers suddenly began connecting with his words. The track's runaway success turned him from an artist slowly finding his lane into one of the most talked-about names in the Indian rap space almost overnight. And yet, ask him if he saw it coming, and his answer is instant: 'I didn't anticipate any of this… you can't really predict these things. The universe unfolds in very unpredictable ways.' Hanumankind became famous overnight after the release of Big Dawgs It's that unpredictability — both in life and in art — that seems to be a constant in his story. Long before Big Dawgs went viral, the Delhi-based rapper had been putting in the hours, experimenting with sound, and slowly building a catalogue. The turning point came in December 2019 in Pune at NH7 Weekender, his first-ever festival slot. 'That was the moment I decided I was going to do music. I didn't know if I was going to succeed… but I realised I'd rather do this than anything else,' he recalls. Even with that clarity of choice, he wasn't prepared for what came next. The sudden attention after Big Dawgs was thrilling, but it also left him processing a reality he hadn't quite imagined. Which is why his new release — the Monsoon mixtape — feels so telling. It's not a product of his recent success, he stresses, but a compilation of songs written and shaped over the years, before he fully stepped into the idea of being an artist. 'These are bits and pieces of my journey… me testing things out, feeling things out. There's a wide range of sounds and emotions in there, because they're all from different spaces I was in before I came to where I am now,' he says. The decision to call it Monsoon wasn't aesthetic — it was personal. Growing up, the season was tied to strong memories of travel and time spent in India. More than that, it became a metaphor for the way his life and career often feel: beautiful one moment, overwhelming the next, and impossible to control either way. 'Some days it feels romantic, other days it's heavy… either way, it's going to happen,' he says. For him, the monsoon also symbolises unpredictability as a natural rhythm — something you adapt to rather than resist. The mixtape carries that spirit. Some tracks are reflective, others are bold experiments in style. The shifts aren't about chasing trends but about allowing himself the freedom to explore without being boxed in. 'I like to rap, but that doesn't mean I'm only going to do one style… change is the only constant,' he says. While Big Dawgs might have introduced him to a much larger audience, Hanumankind insists that his approach hasn't changed. The collaborators he chooses are still people he admires, and the respect is mutual. 'First off, you gotta like them as people… when you have that foundation, everything else falls into place,' he says. Therefore the success of Big Dawgs, he adds, wasn't an accident — it was the result of consistent work and steady growth in quality over previous releases. 'If you look at the videos before Big Dawgs, you can see we've been doing this for a while. The intent was always there. The song was just a byproduct of what we'd been doing consistently,' says the 33-year-old rapper who was born in Malappuram, Kerala. But that doesn't mean he's immune to the pressure that comes with being 'the next big thing.' He's still learning how to carry the weight of expectation without letting it dictate his art. In many ways, Monsoon is his way of telling listeners that the artist they discovered through Big Dawgs is still evolving — still figuring things out. Through all the changes, the one constant in his life is writing. 'I just try and make sure that I write, that's all. I write as much as I can… this is the one thing that has given me life,' he says. For him, writing isn't tied to location, fame or even the need to release music. It's about keeping in touch with the core impulse that started this journey. 'No matter where I am, I'll keep doing it,' he says. That philosophy keeps him grounded. Fame might open doors, but it's the act of creating — not the recognition — that defines his purpose. 'That's not going to change what my intention is and what my life source is,' he says firmly. Looking back, the road to Monsoon has been a series of shifts — some planned, others entirely unexpected. The NH7 Weekender performance sparked the first big decision. Big Dawgs brought validation and visibility. And now, Monsoon Mixtape serves as both a time capsule and a statement of intent: a record of where he's been and a signal that he's ready for the next chapter with a clearer sense of self. The album's emotional range mirrors his own relationship with success — equal parts excitement, disbelief and acceptance. 'Before, I wasn't sure if this was going to work for me… now I have clarity,' he says. That clarity, however, doesn't mean predictability. Just like the season it's named after, this project is proof that Hanumankind plans to keep embracing the unexpected — in life, in fame, and in music.

INDIA bloc to move impeachment motion against CEC; skip special debate in LS on Astronaut Shukla's space mission

NEW DELHI: The Opposition INDIA bloc is mulling moving an impeachment motion against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar after he asked Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi to either file an affidavit substantiating his vote theft allegations against the poll body or apologise before the country. The proposal for an impeachment motion was discussed at the INDIA bloc meeting held in this morning. Speaking to TNIE, an Opposition leader said that all members of the bloc have approved the proposal. The leader said that legal modalities will be discussed soon. "The process is similar to the impeachment of a judge," he said The Opposition parties have also decided not to cooperate with the government on the special discussion on the impact of Astronaut Shukla's space mission. The Lok Sabha is scheduled to have a two-day special discussion on the same. "We have decided not to take part in the discussion and to continue with its protests," the leader told TNIE. At a press conference on Sunday, the CEC warned Gandhi that if he failed to provide a declaration under oath within seven days, his claims of vote theft and poll rigging would be rendered "baseless and invalid." Hitting back at the poll body, Rahul Gandhi alleged that the BJP-led NDA government passed a 2023 law to prevent action against the EC as it is "helping" the saffron party and "indulging in vote chori" with them. Addressing a gathering at Aurangabad at the end of the first day of his Voter Adhikar Yatra, Gandhi said, "Today they (ECI) held a press conference. I want to ask them why the government change the law on CCTV footage of election process. Do you know that no case can be initiated against the election commissioners? In no court in India can there be a case against them."
