This Top Actress Banned From Driving For 6 Months After Speeding Violation
The actress has been banned from driving for six months after a 2024 speeding offense in Oxford. She did not attend the court hearing.
Emma Watson has been banned from driving for six months following a speeding violation that took place in 2024. The Harry Potter star was caught on camera driving at 38 mph in a 30 mph zone in Oxford, England. The court ruling came nearly a year after the incident, with a magistrate officially suspending her licence on Wednesday.
Watson already had nine penalty points on her driving record prior to the latest offense, leading to the automatic six-month driving ban. The 35-year-old actress-turned-student was also ordered to pay a total of £1,044 in fines and costs by the High Wycombe Magistrates' Court.
Although Watson did not appear in person for the brief five-minute hearing, her lawyer Mark Haslam was present and confirmed that the actress had the means to pay the fine. 'She is in a position to pay the fine," he told the court. Haslam also shared that Watson is currently pursuing a master's degree in creative writing at the University of Oxford, a program she began in 2023.
Emma Watson rose to fame in 2001 as Hermione Granger in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, and went on to star in all eight films of the beloved franchise. After Harry Potter, she appeared in several major Hollywood productions including The Perks of Being a Wallflower, The Bling Ring, and Disney's live-action Beauty and the Beast. Her most recent acting credit was in Greta Gerwig's 2019 adaptation of Little Women.
Outside of acting, Watson has become an advocate for sustainability and gender equality. In 2023, she co-launched a sustainable gin brand with her brother. Despite stepping back from acting, she continues to remain in the public eye through her activism, academic pursuits, and entrepreneurial efforts.
Meanwhile, a new television adaptation of Harry Potter is currently in production at HBO, with a fresh cast led by Dominic McLaughlin as Harry, Arabella Stanton as Hermione, and Alastair Stout as Ron. The series is expected to unfold over a decade, reimagining J.K. Rowling's world for a new generation.

Do You Know Ahaan Panday Was First Cast With Ajay Devgn In A Superhero Film Before Saiyaara?
Last Updated: Ahaan Panday's debut in Saiyaara was not his first launch plan, he was earlier set to star in a superhero film with Ajay Devgn. Ahaan Panday is enjoying a dream debut with Saiyaara, which has lit up the box office with a roaring start. But did you know the rising star of Yash Raj Films was actually supposed to make his acting debut with a big-budget superhero film opposite Ajay Devgn? Ahaan, who plays the aspiring rockstar Krish Kapoor in the Mohit Suri-directed Saiyaara, was initially launched as an Assistant Director on The Railway Men, Netflix's acclaimed YRF miniseries. However, before all that, he had already been chosen to headline a superhero film under the YRF banner. According to Bollywood Hungama, the project was an ambitious multi-part superhero saga featuring Ahaan in the lead and Ajay Devgn as the antagonist. Former Miss World Manushi Chhillar was also on board. A source had said in 2020, 'It's true that Ahaan Panday and Ajay Devgn will be seen together. Ajay plays the antagonist in this film, which promises to be a visually grand and exciting affair. It'll be a part of a superhero series and every part will have a new villain." Despite the buzz, the film never made it past pre-production. In 2021, Ajay Devgn reportedly backed out, citing scheduling issues after COVID-19 disrupted several of his pending projects. With the plan shelved, Ahaan shifted gears and joined director Shiv Rawail as an AD on The Railway Men. Following the show's release in November 2023, Ahaan shared an emotional post on Instagram reflecting on his time on set. He wrote, 'I was working on a show about a group of brave souls… it made me realise that that is the only way we can treat our dreams… sometimes life forces you to think about where you're going, but that's exactly when you need to look out of that window and see the beauty in it all." Now, with Saiyaara, Ahaan finally steps into the limelight, and fans are loving his fresh energy and screen presence. The romantic musical also stars Aneet Padda. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Instant Bollywood Videos (@instantbollywoodvideos) The atmosphere at the screening was upbeat, with celebrities greeting each other warmly and praising Ahaan's performance in the romantic musical. Bobby Deol, fresh off the Animal wave, was seen interacting with the young debutant, while Disha Patani, who also stars in the film, posed for pictures with fans and co-stars. According to early estimates from Sacnilk, Saiyaara grossed Rs 20.50 crore on its opening day — setting a new record for debutant-led films in Bollywood. Previously, the record was held by Dhadak (2018) with an opening of Rs 8.71 crore and Student of the Year (2012) with Rs 7.48 crore. Directed by Mohit Suri and produced by Yash Raj Films, Saiyaara follows the love story of Krish Kapoor (Ahaan Panday), a dreamer who wants to become a singing sensation, and Vaani Batra (Aneet Padda), an aspiring journalist. Their lives take unexpected turns as love, ambition, and societal pressures clash in this emotionally charged romance. As Saiyaara continues to perform strongly at the box office, the special screening served as both a warm welcome for Ahaan Panday into Bollywood and a celebration of young talent making a splash on the big screen.
