Xero Now Offers Tap To Pay On IPhone For NZ Small Businesses With A Stripe Account To Accept Contactless Payments

An easy, secure and private way to accept contactless payments with an iPhone and the Xero Accounting iOS app, no additional hardware needed
Wellington — 29 May 2025 Xero, the global small business platform, has launched Tap To Pay on iPhone, enabling Xero customers in New Zealand with a Stripe account to seamlessly and securely accept in-person contactless payments with their iPhone and the Xero Accounting app — no additional hardware or payment terminal needed. Tap to Pay on iPhone enables businesses to accept all forms of contactless payments, including contactless credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, and other digital wallets.
Using Tap to Pay on iPhone is easy, secure and private. With Tap to Pay on iPhone, at checkout, the merchant can simply prompt the customer to hold their iPhone or Apple Watch with their contactless credit or debit card, Apple Pay or other digital wallet to pay with their contactless credit or debit card near the merchant's iPhone. The payment will be securely completed using Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. Tap to Pay on iPhone also supports PIN entry, which includes accessibility options.
Apple's Tap to Pay on iPhone technology uses the built-in features of iPhone to keep the business' and customers' data private and secure. When a payment is processed, Apple doesn't store card numbers or transaction information on Apple servers, so merchants and customers can rest assured that their data stays theirs*.
Empowering businesses with more ways to pay
Managing cash flow is more important than ever for small businesses, and receiving timely payments from customers is a fundamental piece of the puzzle.
Xero research shows over a third (38%) of Kiwi consumers say they are frustrated when their preferred payment option isn't available and one in five (22%) would shop elsewhere if a business didn't offer one of their preferred ways to pay**.
Bharathi Ramavarjula, SVP, Payments & Ecosystem at Xero said, 'Managing payments plays a vital part of the cash flow equation, but small businesses continue to face challenges, including chasing late payments. With so much on their plate already, keeping pace with shifting consumer expectations and market trends can feel overwhelming.
That's why payments is such a core part of Xero's business strategy. With the launch of Tap to Pay on iPhone, we're excited to support small businesses to streamline payment processes, enabling them to accept payments on the spot, and maintain a healthy cash flow.'
Tap to Pay on iPhone enables Xero customers in New Zealand with a Stripe account to use a contactless payment acceptance solution that is easy to set up and use. Businesses will be able to unlock contactless payment acceptance through the Xero Accounting app on an iPhone XS or later running the latest version of iOS, and can simply download the Xero Accounting app from the Apple App Store to start accepting contactless payments within minutes.

Note
*Encrypted card numbers are temporarily stored on iPhone only for transactions made in Store and Forward mode.
**Additional findings from Xero's 'I want to pay that way' research in May 2024 of 1005 New Zealand adults and 508 small business leaders.

Adobe debuts free Photoshop Android beta with AI tools & layers

Adobe has launched a beta version of its Photoshop app for Android devices, making core image editing features accessible to a wider range of mobile users. The move follows the iOS launch of the Photoshop mobile app earlier this year, expanding the reach of key Photoshop functionalities such as layers, masks, and the Firefly-powered Generative Fill tool. The Android beta is now available for free download on Google Play. During this period, users can access all current features with no charge, and Adobe has indicated that new capabilities will be introduced in future updates. According to Adobe, the app has been designed to be intuitive and approachable for creators working directly on their phones. The initial release includes many of Photoshop's primary image editing tools and capabilities, including layering and masking, as well as the AI-powered Generative Fill. This feature enables users to add or transform elements in their work using Firefly generative AI technology. Adobe said, "Since its debut in February, creators have embraced the Photoshop mobile app, using it for everything from editing photos and unique digital art on the go, to creating intricate collages, amazing thumbnails and more. Now, we're excited to bring Photoshop to Android to empower more mobile creators to bring their ideas to life with creative freedom, anytime and anywhere." The app is targeted at a broad range of users. Adobe stated, "Photoshop mobile is designed to be intuitive and accessible for creators who prefer to work on their phones. The all-new Android app includes Photoshop's iconic image editing and design capabilities, including tools such as layering, masking and the popular, Firefly-powered Generative Fill. Photoshop mobile makes it easy to create wherever inspiration strikes, from designing cover art, to a video thumbnail, a vision board, or capturing an idea on the go." For professional and experienced users, the app can serve as a complement to the desktop version, making it easier to access work, make quick edits, or capture ideas when away from their primary computer. "The mobile app makes it fast and easy for the next generation of creators to get started with Photoshop. The app provides flexibility for experienced professionals, empowering desktop creators to access work, make quick edits or capture creative ideas anywhere," Adobe said. Core features currently available with the Android beta include the ability to combine and blend images using key tools like selections, layers, and masks; a Tap Select tool to quickly remove or replace image elements; a Spot Healing Brush for removing distractions; Firefly-powered Generative Fill; access to a growing library of Adobe Stock assets; Object Select and Magic Wand selection tools; as well as Remove and Clone Stamp tools for advanced edits. Users can also control layers and effects with blend modes and adjustment layers. Adobe shared examples of how the mobile app has been used by mobile-first creators, including digital art production and transforming everyday photos into art. "Since introducing Photoshop mobile, we've been inspired by creators using the app in unique ways, including crafting beautiful visual stories, creating digital art on the go and transforming everyday moments into art with powerful tools at their fingertips. Below are a few examples," the company said. To help users get started, the app includes mobile tutorials covering working with layers, selections, and generative AI features. Users can join Adobe Community Forums to share work and receive feedback, with Adobe highlighting the role community input will play in developing the Android app further. "Whether you're trying Photoshop for the first time or exploring new ideas, we want to help you dive in with confidence: Explore the Photoshop mobile tutorials directly in the app to learn how to work with layers, selections, and generative AI tools like Generative Fill. Connect with the Photoshop community through the Adobe Community Forums to share work and connect with others for feedback, support and inspiration. As we continue to develop the Android experience, community feedback will help shape what comes next. Visit the Adobe Inspiration Hub to explore new creative ideas, read real creator stories and try thought-starters to help guide projects," Adobe said. The beta version is available for devices running Android 11 or later, with a requirement of at least 6GB of RAM, though Adobe recommends 8GB or more for optimal performance. The Photoshop app for iPhone remains available globally through the Apple App Store.

Fiji: Urgent Public Warning: Bitcoin ATM Job Scam Targeting Fijians

Fijians Advised To Ignore Fraudulent Job Offers Circulating Via WhatsApp The Anti – Scam Taskforce (Taskforce) is urgently warning members of the public, particularly iPhone users, to remain vigilant against a new and deceitful scam being circulated through Apple's iMessage platform. The message, purportedly from 'Seek HR Management', falsely claims to offer highly suspicious remote assistant positions with unrealistic earnings of FJD $200 to $1,500 per day for just 15 minutes of work, along with claims about Bitcoin ATM installations in Suva and Lautoka. It is a deliberate attempt to lure unsuspecting consumers into fraudulent schemes under the guise of job recruitment. The scam message reads: 'Hello everyone, I'm the HR manager at Seek. We are installing Bitcoin ATMs in cities like Suva and Lautoka, and we are currently hiring 20 remote assistants. This job requires about 15 minutes of work each day, with a salary ranging from 200 to 1500 FJD per day. If you'd like to learn more about the job details, please add me on WhatsApp: 642102811577. ' Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Co-operatives, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Communications and the Chair of the Taskforce, Hon. Manoa Kamikamica, expressed grave concern over the rise of digital scam operations targeting everyday Fijians. 'This is not just a consumer issue—it is a national issue. We cannot allow criminal actors to exploit digital platforms to deceive our citizens,' said Hon. Kamikamica. 'These criminals are employing increasingly sophisticated tactics to appear legitimate, but their goal remains the same, to defraud hardworking Fijians. I urge all citizens to be extremely vigilant with unsolicited job offers, particularly those requiring personal financial information or upfront payments. Always verify any opportunity through official channels before responding, and we also urge all Fijians to report such messages to the relevant authorities immediately. It is through vigilance and collaboration that we will protect our communities.' On behalf of the Taskforce, the Council is urging all consumers to exercise extreme caution, refrain from engaging with the message, and under no circumstances respond or add the sender on WhatsApp. 'This is a textbook scam designed to exploit the curiosity and financial aspirations of our people,' said Council CEO Seema Shandil. 'The promise of easy money for minimal work is not just unrealistic—it's bait. Once hooked, consumers may be manipulated into sharing personal information, sending money, or unknowingly participating in illegal activity. We implore all Fijians to remain cautious, educate their families about these threats, and report any suspicious communications immediately.' The Anti-Scam Taskforce members are working closely to monitor such threats and coordinate timely responses. Consumers are reminded that legitimate job offers will never ask for contact via unofficial channels such as WhatsApp messages or offer unrealistic wages for little to no work. If it sounds too good to be true, it almost certainly is. Scams thrive in silence — speaking up protects not just you, but others around you. If you have received this message or believe you may have shared information with the scammer, contact the Consumer Council of Fiji immediately via toll-free number 155 or email complaints@
