Annan Athletic relegated after play-off final defeat
Annan Athletic have been relegated after defeat in the Scottish League One play-off final.
A 1-1 draw in the second leg against East Fife meant a 4-3 aggregate loss - and a return to League Two.
Wullie Gibson's side, trailing 3-2 from the first leg, levelled the final in the early stages at Galabank on Friday evening when Tommy Goss scored.
Ex-Carlisle United midfielder Josh Dixon was millimetres away from an Annan second when he hit the crossbar.
But East Fife regained the aggregate lead when Adam Laaref made it 1-1 on the night before half-time.

And Dick Campbell's visitors held off Gibson's men after the break to clinch promotion as Annan's two-year stay in the third tier came to an end.
A 1,304 crowd packed into Galabank with the majority hoping Annan, who finished ninth in League One, could overturn League Two's second-placed finishers.
But afterwards player-boss Gibson, speaking via Annan's official channels, said: "I'm incredibly disappointed.
"The play-offs is an extra life and we've not managed to stay up.
"We're in the position we're in because we've conceded poor goals all season, and tonight was no different.
"I take the responsibility - over the course of the season it's been my team and it's not been good enough.
"We now need to do a very good job in terms of recruitment. We'll need to build on a tight budget and try to come back up again.
"That will be the desire in the changing room, from the boys, from myself and the staff.
"We don't want to be in League Two, and its going to hurt for a long time, but we need to bounce back."

Knicks get Jay Wright clarity in their head coach search
The Nova Knicks won't get their old coach behind the bench in New York. Jay Wright is not a candidate to fill the Knicks' head coaching vacancy, The Post's Stefan Bondy reported Saturday. President Leon Rose understands that Wright, who last coached in 2022 at Villanova, is happy in retirement. Advertisement That leaves one name off the list for the Knicks as they seek to replace Tom Thibodeau after his firing earlier this week. After the news about Wright broke, Josh Hart, a former Wildcat, wrote on X: 'Man thank you. Stay retired!' with a laughing emoji before tagging Wright's account. Jay Wright is not going to be a Knicks coaching candidate. IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters Connect Advertisement One candidate the Knicks are considering is Jason Kidd, insider Marc Stein reported Friday. Kidd, an ex-Net and Knick, is under contract as head coach of the Mavericks, a team he led to the NBA Finals in 2024.

Last-second addition Cox Pruette making most of Epson Tour start in Michigan
Last-second addition Cox Pruette making most of Epson Tour start in Michigan BATTLE CREEK, Mich. - The Battle Creek Country Club was a friendly host, allowing a lot of good scores, as the FireKeepers Casino Hotel Championship came to town for a 12th time, starting Friday, June 6. Out of the 144-player field, 58 broke par for the opening day, and 15 carded rounds of 68 or better. The top of the leaderboard was crowded, with Carley Cox Pruette, Samantha Vodry, and Maddie Szeryk all tied at the top after turning in 6-under rounds to start their tournaments. The FireKeepers event is part of the EPSON Tour - the official qualifying tour of the LPGA Tour. Locally, Battle Creek's Amiyah Gibson shot a 12-over 84 in the first round. The Lakeview high schooler entered the tournament as an amateur on a sponsor's exemption. Gibson will tee off for round two at 2:20 p.m. on Saturday, June 7. MORE: Battle Creek's Gibson will golf against pros at a course her grandpa wasn't allowed to play Cox Pruette, who played collegiately at East Carolina University, found out she was in the tournament just 24 hours before she teed off, making her the last player in the field for the week. The 28-year-old has good memories and experience at Battle Creek Country Club, making her first professional start at the course. The experience paid off as Cox Pruette made her way around bogey-free, adding six birdies to the card. Because of her ranking on the priority list, she has only played in one event prior to this week and is now playing with house money. She was 1 over through her first 15 holes on Saturday. 'I just kind of feel at home on the course, and that's a weird thing to say,' said Cox Pruette. 'Just got some good memories here, and I've made some good connections and friends here. So, it's always good to return back, and yeah, I just love the course. It just fits my eye well, so it definitely helps when you get that last-minute call.' Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell reveals Aaron Rodgers conversations as QB lands in Pittsburgh
During the NFL offseason, there were rumors swirling between Aaron Rodgers and the Vikings. Minnesota ultimately did not sign the ex-Jet quarterback, moving forward with second-year quarterback J.J. McCarthy. Now with Rodgers heading to the Steelers, Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell gave a little peek behind the conversations with the 41-year-old future Hall of Famer in the offseason. 'Aaron and I have known each other since he lived in San Diego at the time when I was playing in the NFL. We work out together in the offseasons. Built a friendship, a rapport anytime we've kept in touch throughout seasons,' O'Connell said while on KFAN1003 on Friday. 3 Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell (left) commiserates with Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers after the match during the NFL London 2024 match between Jets and Vikings at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Oct. 6, 2024 in London. Getty Images 'So, there was an opportunity when him and I connected, just to kinda talk about, 'Hey, what would that look like…' We had a lot of great dialogue about it. But it always centered around what was best not only for the present Minnesota Vikings organization but the future. I was very honest about my feelings towards J.J. My obligation that I felt like we were going to give him the best possible situation to begin and thrive on this NFL journey and let's see where it goes. 'And we stayed in touch and had some communication, but I understand it's Aaron Rodgers. This is a Hall of Fame quarterback and a guy that you mention his name and it's probably going to be a popular thing, probably a good thing for anybody holding a microphone. I understand that. Out of respect for our friendship, that's about as much as really has kinda happened. I still talk to him, and the next time I talk to him it's going to be the same old same old. He's different than people probably think but I think that's all a part of it this day in age.' 3 Vikings' Kevin O'Connell reveals more about Aaron Rodgers conversations during the offseason. X @vikingzfanpage With Sam Darnold under center, the Vikings had a successful season in 2024, going 14-3, but they ended lost in the wild-card round to the Rams, 27-9. Darnold left for the Seahawks and a three-year, $100.5 million contract this offseason, leaving the Vikings to decide between chasing a free agent like Rodgers or going with McCarthy. The Vikings ultimately put faith in the former No. 10 overall pick in 2024, even though McCarthy missed last season due to a preseason knee injury. 3 Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers (8) during the third quarter of their game against the Miami Dolphins at MetLife Stadium.
