The construction will begin this year and will be completed within four years. During the Cabinet session in Madaba, Husein announced the launch of a high-speed bus route between Madaba and Amman, which will operate 8 buses on fixed schedules, offering 52 trips daily, with direct government support. He emphasized the government's commitment to implementing projects that are agreed upon with elected councils in the governorates, as per the allocations in this year's budget and those that will be allocated in future years' budgets. Husein also stressed that the government cares about the citizens, and there is no place in the public sector for those who do not care. The Prime Minister highlighted the significant importance of field visits in shaping policies and decision-making. "What we see on the ground directly impacts our plans and developmental programs across all sectors, along with addressing urgent needs and quick interventions." He explained that Madaba is rich in its tourism and religious sites, which is a feature that must be harnessed and efforts should be made to highlight it. This is what will be worked on through tourism activation plans and projects aimed at this purpose. He confirmed that efforts will continue to complete the restoration, rehabilitation, and development of tourist sites in the governorate, as well as the completion of the second phase of the Christian Pilgrimage Trail and the readiness of the Dhiban Visitors Center to receive visitors soon. The Prime Minister also stated that the country's economy is capable, resilient, and strong, expressing optimism about the upcoming economic situation and the foreign investments and strategic projects that will be launched this year and next. Speaking about the Palestinian issue, Husein confirmed that the efforts led by His Majesty the King are dedicated to supporting and solidifying the steadfastness of the Palestinian people on their land. He emphasized that this is the only guarantee for the restoration of their full rights, foremost of which is their right to establish an independent sovereign state along the June 4, 1967 borders, based on the two-state solution.
Husein also affirmed that the war being waged by Israel on Gaza is a war against humanity. The entire international community must be concerned with ending this barbarism, which has targeted children, women, and civilians. Currently, it involves starving the people with the aim of displacement and expelling those who remain steadfast on their land.

Albanese says Hamas should be viewed as political movement, not as murderers

Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories, said Sunday that Hamas must be understood as a political and administrative force rather than dismissed solely as a violent organization. Speaking on the group's role in Gaza, Albanese argued that it holds significant responsibilities beyond its military wing. 'Hamas is not a band of murderers or heavily armed fighters, as it is often depicted in various narratives,' she said. - Role in governance - Albanese noted that Hamas has been the governing authority in Gaza since winning what she described as the most democratic election in the region, stressing that its control came through a political process rather than force. She pointed to the movement's establishment of schools, hospitals, and public institutions as evidence of its governing role. According to the rapporteur, many of the portrayals of Hamas in mainstream discourse lack context. 'People often repeat certain narratives without truly understanding the administrative and service role Hamas plays in Gaza,' she added. - Criticism of corporate complicity - Albanese also turned her attention to the economic side of the conflict, recalling her recent accusations that more than 60 multinational corporations, including leading weapons and technology firms, have directly or indirectly aided 'Israel's' military campaign in Gaza and the expansion of settlements in the West Bank. She described the war in Gaza as a 'campaign of genocide,' one that is being fueled not only by politics and security but also by financial gain. 'At a time when lives are being lost in Gaza and the West Bank is facing escalating violence, this report highlights a crucial reason why Israel's genocide continues: it is profitable for many involved,' Albanese said.

Rights group blasts UN General Assembly for lack of action on Gaza genocide

The Gaza Tribunal, a civil initiative made up of international academics, legal experts, and human rights advocates, is calling for urgent UN intervention to shield civilians in the war-ravaged enclave. Speaking at a press briefing in Istanbul on Monday, the tribunal's chair Richard Falk, a former UN special rapporteur on Palestinian rights, urged governments to act before the crisis reaches a point of no return. The group is pressing for the UN General Assembly to be granted authority to send an armed, protective mission into Gaza, citing the collapse of aid delivery and the worsening conditions for the civilian population. 'The aim was the empowerment of the UN General Assembly to organise a protective, armed intervention in Gaza to overcome the disruption of humanitarian aid and the continuing devastation and destruction of the people,' said Falk, a 94-year-old American professor emeritus of international law. - Background to the call - The Gaza Tribunal was established in London in 2024 with the stated goal of galvanizing public opinion and pushing governments to act 'to end the genocide' in Gaza. Its members argue that the UN Security Council has been paralyzed by political divisions, leaving the General Assembly as the only viable path forward. 'We urge governments around the world to take immediate steps to empower the veto-free UN General Assembly that ... so far has been frustrated in its attempts to end the Gaza genocide,' the group declared in a statement. Since the October 7, 2023, 'Israel' has launched a military campaign in Gaza that health officials in the territory say has killed more than 61,944 Palestinians. Aid agencies warn that the enclave faces catastrophic shortages of food, water, and medicine. - Possible legal avenues - Falk suggested that governments could turn to existing international frameworks such as the 1950 'Uniting for Peace' resolution, which allows the General Assembly to act when the Security Council is blocked, or the 2005 Responsibility to Protect (R2P) doctrine, designed to prevent atrocities like those in Rwanda and Bosnia. 'If we do not take action of a serious and drastic kind at this time, (it) will be too late to save the surviving people,' Falk warned. - Differing views - 'Israel' has rejected accusations of genocide and maintains that it does not deliberately obstruct humanitarian assistance. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has argued that international calls to stop the war only strengthen Hamas' determination to continue fighting. Meanwhile, Amnesty International on Monday accused 'Israel' of pursuing a 'deliberate policy' of starving civilians in Gaza, a claim that 'Israeli' officials have repeatedly denied.

These remarks came during Al-Eisawi's meeting on Monday at the Royal Hashemite Court with a delegation from the Al-Dheeb / Bani Sakher clan, attended by the King's Advisor for Tribal Affairs, Kna'an Al-Balawi. Al-Eisawi highlighted that since assuming constitutional powers, His Majesty has pursued a comprehensive developmental project aimed at building a modern, strong state capable of keeping pace with change. Political, economic, and administrative modernization have been key pillars of comprehensive reform, with programs launched to reflect the King's vision of institutional development, youth empowerment, and enhancing popular participation in decision-making. He added that the royal approach is based on continuous development and strategic planning, establishing an integrated system to advance the economy, stimulate investment, create jobs, and modernize legislation governing political life. This approach expands opportunities for citizen participation and reinforces Jordanians' confidence in their country's future, positioning the Kingdom as a model of responsible reform and sustainable development in the region. Al-Eisawi also praised the role of Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II in supporting the King's efforts, carrying the aspirations of youth and the torch of the nation's future. In this context, Al-Eisawi welcomed the Crown Prince's announcement to reactivate the National Service program, emphasizing that it is a pivotal step aligned with the King's vision and directives, placing youth at the center of the nation's development and future. He stated that the program will serve as a national milestone fostering belonging, discipline, and providing youth with opportunities for active participation in serving their country. He emphasized that, despite the increasing global challenges, Jordan moves forward with confidence thanks to the wise leadership of the King and the awareness and unity of its people around enduring national principles. Al-Eisawi added that progress can only be achieved through determination, solidarity, and a firm stance behind the Hashemite leadership, which combines wisdom and prudence while working tirelessly for the nation's advancement and the preservation of its achievements. He condemned the expansionist rhetoric of the Israeli Prime Minister and the illusions of a 'Greater Israel,' describing them as evidence of a domestic political crisis and a desperate attempt to mislead public opinion and distract from failures. He affirmed that these false claims are rejected and exposed and cannot change historical or geographical facts nor Jordan's established principles and positions in defending Palestine and its people. Al-Eisawi also praised Queen Rania's role in supporting education, empowering women, and enhancing Jordan's positive image. He extended his respect to the Jordanian Armed Forces – Arab Army and security agencies for safeguarding national security and stability through their sacrifices and dedication. Speakers at the meeting affirmed that King Abdullah II's positions represent a solid foundation in defending national and Arab causes, particularly the Palestinian cause, which has always been a priority in his political and humanitarian initiatives. They concluded that the bond between the Hashemite leadership and the Jordanian people is enduring, rooted in loyalty, and strengthens with each challenge, forming a moral and spiritual connection to the nation. Loyalty to the Hashemite leadership is a legacy passed to future generations, ensuring that the Hashemite flag remains high and Jordan continues as a stronghold of justice and protection of rights. Finally, they condemned the expansionist rhetoric of the Israeli Prime Minister and the 'Greater Israel' illusions, stressing that such statements will not undermine Jordan's steadfast positions and principles.
