has become revered as one of the most influential music stars since her '80s debut, but for the most part, she has kept an extremely low profile in recent years.
Following the 37th anniversary of her legendary track "Fast Car," which was released in April 1988 and re-issued on vinyl last month in honor of the milestone, the singer/songwriter offered up rare comments about her future career plans—and despite her enduring influence, it likely doesn't come as a huge surprise for loyal fans.
'I'm still on a break,' she told the German press, per US Weekly. 'I have no plans to go on tour, and I have no plans to go into the studio. Who knows what might happen, but right now, there are no plans.'

She does, however, seemingly still keep music creation at top of mind, revealing in a separate interview that if she was to set off on tour again, it would be linked to a brand new project vs. solely her past hits (though iconic).
'If I were to tour, I would tour for something new, new material, and in that process, I would, of course, play these songs, too,' she explained to Billboard. 'But that would be the thing that would be most interesting to me at this point. And that's always the case. Whenever someone asks, 'What's your favorite song?' It's always the one I'm writing at the time. I said it before, but maybe no one believed it, that I'm always playing and I'm always writing songs. I've been doing it since I was 8 years old. It's just part of my DNA. It's part of who I am.'
The rarely-seen star has become known for leading an ultra-private life largely away from the spotlight, and only popping back into the public eye for occasional performances. At the 2024 Grammy Awards, she delighted with a poignant duet with Luke Combs that nearly brought fans to tears.
Chapman's last project, Our Bright Future, was released in 2008.

Dakota Johnson Becomes The New Global Ambassador Of Roberto Coin

Roberto Coin's new global brand ambassador, Dakota Johnson, in new ad campaign Italian fine jewelry brand, Roberto Coin, has named actress and advocate Dakota Johnson as its new Global Brand Ambassador. The announcement was made May 29 during an event in New York where the brand also unveiled a new advertising campaign featuring Johnson. The new global campaign starring Johnson is photographed by award-winning British fashion photographer and filmmaker, Craig McDean, known for his raw, unfiltered approach capturing the essence of his subjects with natural lighting and minimal retouching. The campaign will run through May 2027. The photography with Johnson is set against the backdrop of Venice. The company says the campaign 'captures the fusion of classic Italian beauty and contemporary elegance that defines Roberto Coin.' Roberto Coin's new ad campaign places Dakota Johnson against the backdrop of Venice Roberto Coin, who founded his eponymous brand and serves as creative director, said that Johnson's selection as brand ambassador ushers in a dynamic new chapter for the brand, highlighting its continued evolution through bold storytelling and artistry. 'Dakota Johnson is a true original I love her expressions—an artist with authenticity, depth, and a unique ability to connect,' Coin said. 'We are proud to welcome her to the Roberto Coin family and to collaborate on a campaign that speaks to the heart of who we are.' Johnson, 35, has been a professional actor for more than two decades. The daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith, she appeared in her first role at the age of five in 'Crazy in Alabama,' directed by her then-stepfather Antonio Banderas, and starring her mother. Since then, she has appeared constantly in starring and supporting roles in film and television. She is probably best known for playing the lead role in the erotic 'Fifty Shades' film series. Most recently, she starred in the 2024 film, 'Madame Web.' Johnson also is a vocal advocate for mental health awareness. Venice is the inspiration and soul of Roberto Coin's new campaign starring Dakota Johnson Venice serves as both the inspiration and the soul of this campaign, Coin said, as his connection to this city is deeply personal. Born in Venice, its essence has profoundly shaped his creativity over the years, he said, adding that the city's rich history, majestic architecture and vibrant artistic culture have long influenced his designs and inspired many of his collections. The campaign, features video and still photography with Johnson wearing pieces from the brand's most iconic collections: Love in Verona, Venetian Princess, Navarra, Obelisco, Tiaré and Cobra. Released in two phases, the campaign's first half will launch this month, with the second installment debuting in May 2026. The full campaign will run through May 2027 across global platforms. 'I've always believed that jewelry tells a story—of who you are, where you've been, and what you love,' Johnson said. 'Roberto Coin's pieces are full of depth and meaning, and I'm honored to help bring that spirit to life through this collaboration. There's romance, strength, and bold femininity in every design.' In addition to the campaign, Johnson will make global appearances and participate in creative initiatives for Roberto Coin. The announcement of Johnson and the new advertising campaign comes a year after Roberto Coin's North America business division was acquired by luxury watch and jewelry retailer, Watches of Switzerland for $130 million. At the time of the acquisition, Watches of Switzerland said Roberto Coin has more than 400 points-of-sale with department stores, jewelry chains and independent jewelers, making it the sixth largest jewelry brand in the U.S. by sales. Roberto Coin S.p.A., founded in Vicenza, Italy, is one of the most recognized fine jewelry brands in the world, with operations in 60 countries.

Get Creative

Last May, my father-in-law showed up at my house with a child-size drum set in his trunk. That might make some parents shudder, but I was thrilled. I was a drummer when I was younger, with a set just like this one, and now my 7-year-old son could follow in my footsteps. I've learned two things in the year since. First, you can't force your kids to like the things you like; my son has probably played those drums for 15 minutes total. More important, though, I learned that I wasn't a former drummer. I'm still a drummer. Even though I hadn't engaged that part of my brain in years, my trips downstairs to do laundry now usually include a few minutes bashing on that little drum set. I'm not making beautiful music — just ask my neighbors — but I'm having a great time. Every little session leaves me feeling energized. That spark of creativity is something my colleagues at Well, The Times's personal health and wellness section, think everyone could use more of. Starting tomorrow, they've got a five-day challenge that aims to help readers nurture their creative side. I spoke with Elizabeth Passarella, the writer behind the project, to learn more. After years away from the drums, I've been shocked by how good it feels to make music. Why is that? What you feel is what many of us feel when we do something creative: giddy and inspired. Whether you do something more traditionally creative, like draw or play music, or riff on a recipe because you were out of an ingredient, it gives you a little boost. And there is plenty of research that links creativity to happiness and better moods. Some people reading this are gifted painters and musicians, I'm sure. But others would probably say that they don't have much artistic talent. What would you say to them? You are all creative in some way. There's a definition of creativity that researchers use: generating something novel that is also useful. That could be the score to a movie. It could also be, as one expert told me, a brilliant solution to keeping your dog out of a certain area of your house. Or making up a weird game to play with your toddler. Want all of The Times? Our Champions League Team of the Season for 2024/25

Our Champions League Team of the Season for the 2024/25 campaign, as winners Paris Saint-Germain dominate the XI. Champions League Team of the Season for 2024/25 Goalkeeper: Gianluigi Donnarumma – Paris Saint-Germain The best goalkeeper in the Champions League this season and a man who should not be overlooked in Paris Saint-Germain's success. Donnarumm produced a string of outstanding performances, keeping clean sheets in crucial wins at Liverpool and Arsenal in the knockout rounds. The towering Italian seems to come alive in England, impressing in the consecutive eliminations of three Premier League sides. Right-back: Achraf Hakimi – Paris Saint-Germain Four goals and five assists is a phenomenal return from full-back and there is arguably no better than Achraf Hakimi in the role. His electric speed and elite end product were crucial to PSG, including the opener against former club Inter in the final. Centre-back: Marquinhos – Paris Saint-Germain Marquinhos has been through all the ups and downs of the modern PSG project and finally lifted the Champions League this season. The Brazilian was the leader of Luis Enrique's side, offering a mature presence at the heart of the defence. No player made more than his 98 clearances in the 2024/25 season. Centre-back: Willian Pacho – Paris Saint-Germain One of the newcomers of the Champions League season. Signed last summer as a highly-rated prospect from Eintracht Frankfurt, Willian Pacho has performed superbly in his first campaign in this competition. The 23-year-old played more minutes than any other player and ranked among the season's top performers for clearances (2nd), aerial duels won (5th) and interceptions (9th). Left-back: Nuno Mendes – Paris Saint-Germain It's a clean sweep for Paris Saint-Germain with Nuno Mendes completing an all-Parisian back five. The left-back led the tournament for dribblers tackled (28) and scored four goals. He netted in both legs of the quarter-final win over Aston Villa. Midfield: Pedri – Barcelona Pedri breaks up the PSG dominance and ousts winners Joao Neves and Fabian Ruiz for a place in the side. The silky Spaniard was a driving force in Barcelona's run to the semi-finals, cementing his status as perhaps the world's best midfielder right now. Evasive with the ball and industrious without it, Pedri is the complete package. Midfield: Vitinha – Paris Saint-Germain The metronome of the Paris Saint-Germain midfield. Luis Enrique opted for a conductor over a destroyer when assembling his trophy-winning team and Vitinha was the perfect orchestrator of PSG's play. The Portugal international ran proceedings during PSG's run through the knockout rounds. Right-wing: Lamine Yamal – Barcelona Simply sublime. The 17-year-old elevated himself into the Ballon d'Or conversation during Barcelona's run to the semi-finals. The goals and assists were important, but it was Yamal's unpredictability and fearlessness that stood out. Unplayable at times, there's a mature head on those young shoulders. Advertisement Left-wing: Raphinha – Barcelona Raphinha came close to leaving Barcelona last summer but has bounced back immeasurably to become one of world football's finest this season. He led the Champions League for goals (13) and assists (8), in a season of spectacular performances. His 21 goal involvements equalled Cristiano Ronaldo's record for a single campaign, set in 2013/14. Forward: Lautaro Martinez – Inter Milan Finalists Inter Milan earn just one inclusion, in the form of captain Lautaro Martinez. The Argentine was integral to Inter's run to the final, scoring in each knockout round before the Nerazzurri were outclassed in the final. Martinez's nine Champions League goals equalled the record for an Inter player in a single season and came from an XG of just 4.8. Overperformance. Forward: Ousmane Dembele – Barcelona Luis Enrique has championed Ousmane Dembele as the Ballon d'Or winner following the Frenchman's role in PSG's maiden success. Eight goals and six assists drove PSG to the trophy, with Dembele decisive in 1-0 wins at Liverpool and Arsenal in the knockout rounds. While a goal eluded him in the final, he recorded two assists to cement his reputation as one of Europe's most complete attackers.
