Stockport keeper Hinchliffe facing spell out
The 37-year-old suffered the injury in last week's 2-0 win at local rivals Wigan.
Corey Addai will now deputise for the veteran as the Hatters, who are fourth in League One, look to secure successive promotions and reach the Championship.
"Will we see him again this season? It's probably going to be touch and go," boss Dave Challinor told BBC Radio Manchester.
"When he picked up the injury he was adamant he'd be back in two weeks. It's going to be a bit longer than that but he's obviously really motivated to get back as quick as possible.
"In the meantime it re-emphasises the importance and value in terms of going with two number ones.
"You don't ever want to foresee that this might happen but it has and we now go into Saturday's game (against Cambridge) with full confidence in our goalkeeper."
Stockport are six points behind second-placed Wycombe, having played a game more, and seven ahead of seventh-placed Charlton, again having played one more match than the Addicks.

Hull sign ex-Manchester United defender Brandon Williams as free agent
Former Manchester United defender Brandon Williams has joined Championship side Hull City as a free agent. The 24-year-old, who has been without a club since his contract at Old Trafford expired in the summer of 2024, has featured for Hull in pre-season on a trial basis. The left-back made 51 first-team appearances for United and had loan spells at Norwich City and Ipswich Town. Welcoming Brandon Williams! 🧡#hcafc — Hull City (@HullCity) August 15, 2025 'It feels good to be back in the team environment and back on the pitch,' said Williams. 'Everyone has been very welcoming. It's been a good few weeks but I'm just happy I'm here now and can focus on the football. 'I had a couple of very honest meetings with the manager. We know it's going to be a process to get fully back up to speed, having that time out. It had been 20 months since I played or was involved with a team. Advertisement 'I appreciated the manager's honesty. Now, it's down to me to work hard and get as many games as I can.' In May, Williams was spared jail for dangerous driving that saw him cause a crash after speeding at 99mph with a nitrous oxide balloon in his mouth. Williams, who represented England up to under-21 level, was given a 14-month sentence, suspended for two years, along with a three-year driving ban and an order to do 180 hours of community service. Chester Magistrates' Court heard that Williams, who appeared in the dock wearing a black suit and tie supported by his parents in the public gallery, had been injured at the time of the offence and suffering from depression. Hull City began their Championship campaign with a 0-0 draw at Coventry City on Saturday. Spot the pattern. Connect the terms Find the hidden link between sports terms Play today's puzzle

Valakari impressed by 'well-coached' Motherwell
St Johnstone manager Simo Valakari says he has been "very impressed" by Motherwell under new boss Jens Berthel Askou before the sides meet in the last 16 of the League Cup on Saturday. Askou's team went unbeaten as they topped their Premier Sports Cup group before opening their Premiership campaign with two draws – at home to Rangers then away at St Mirren. Valakari said: "I saw them last weekend playing St Mirren away. There are not many more difficult places to play than St Mirren and Motherwell controlled 60 minutes, passing, playing around the opponent and creating chances. I was very impressed. "It tells me Motherwell are a very well-coached team. "They had over 600 passes against one of the hardest teams in the Premiership and people say we pass a lot - we had about 400 passes against Ross County or Partick Thistle." Following their relegation to the Championship, St Johnstone have been in impressive form with six wins from six games. "I don't know if Motherwell will rotate but for us, as always, it is a test to see where we are and then I know what we are now and how we will improve in the future," Valakari said.
