Police launch investigation after human leg found on beach in South Ayrshire

Police are investigating after a human leg was found on a beach in South Ayrshire in Scotland.
Officers were called to the scene on Prestwick beach, a popular attraction with views of the Isle of Arran from the shoreline, on the morning of 10 June.
Police Scotland said investigations were under way.
A spokesperson for the force said: 'Around 10.45am on Tuesday, 10 June 2025, we received a report that human remains had been discovered on Prestwick beach.
'Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.'

Motorcyclist in 'critical but stable' condition after crash with motorhome

A motorcyclist is in a 'critical but stable' condition after a crash with a motorhome on the A77 near Stranraer. Police were called to a collision involving a black and orange KTM1290 motorcycle and a white Fiat Talento motorhome around 4.25pm on Monday near Innermessan. The motorcyclist, a 62-year-old man, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow with serious injuries. His condition is described as critical but stable. An air ambulance also attended the scene of the crash. The road was closed in both directions and re-opened around 12.40am on Tuesday. Constable Scott Costley said: 'Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and we are asking anyone who saw what happened who has not already spoken to officers to get in touch. 'We are also asking road users in the area at the time to check their dash-cam to see if they have any footage that could assist with our investigation.' Police have been given a further 36 hours to question two men on suspicion of murder after a man's was taken to hospital in a critical condition after reports of an assault at the Upland Avenue junction with Upper Belmont Road in Chesham, Buckinghamshire, at about 17:20 BST on Tuesday, 10 33-year-old died in hospital on Saturday and two men from Chesham, aged 18 and 46, were Supt Emma Burroughs from Thames Valley Police said it was thought to be an isolated incident and the investigation was "progressing swiftly". "You will see an increased police presence in the area, not only to gather evidence but to offer support and reassurance to residents," she said."We will work tirelessly to ensure that Chesham remains a safe place to live and I would urge anybody with any concerns to please speak to any officers in the area."Det Ch Insp Peter Clarke said: "We are continuing to investigate this tragic incident and would reassure the community that we are exploring all avenues to ascertain the full circumstances."He urged people "not to speculate" about the incident and appealed for anyone with information to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
