STRESSFREE (2.45 Epsom, nap)
He has been winning over hurdles this winter and trainer David O'Meara was happy with his Flat comeback at Doncaster last month. He ran a cracker to finish fourth in a big field and may have won with a clearer run. This five-year-old comes back from the same handicap mark of 93 and, while he's done plenty of winning in soft ground, he also handles the decent conditions he should face on the Downs today. Danny Tudhope's mount has good form on quirky tracks like Musselburgh and Chester so should enjoy himself around Epsom's rollercoaster.
DEVIL'S ADVOCATE (2.10 Epsom, nb)
John Gosden has a solid record in this race with no fewer than seven wins since the turn of the century. He can add to that impressive record with this son of Too Darn Hot who showed loads of pace when scooting in at Chelmsford last time out in October. That built nicely on his debut third at Newmarket when a mile was clearly on the short side. He is bred to enjoy this better ground and can take another big step forward. Hold your Derby bets though as the last winner of this to follow up in the Classic was just before the Second World War!
EMERALD ARMY (8.00 Thirsk, treble)
There was lots to like about his comeback win over course and distance earlier this month. He came from a long way back to get up right on the line with a bit left in the tank. A 3lb rise in the weights won't put the brakes on in this modest contest.

ELWATEEN 5 TEEN dream. We have only seen this daughter of Dubawi twice but she has created a big impression. She won at Kempton on debut in August before Saeed Bin Suroor put her away. Her next outing was a really promising fourth in the 1,000 Guineas where she was definitely doing her best work in the closing stages. She was a little green when the pace hotted up and she will have learned plenty before being supplemented for this test. Her dam stayed 1m2f strongly in soft ground so there's every chance she'll relish this trip. Saeed is something of a forgotten trainer these days but he's got two Oaks wins from his halcyon days so knows what it takes to win. GISELLE 3 ELLE of a filly. She only had two rivals to beat in the Lingfield Oaks Trial on comeback last month but did it by nine easy lengths. She handled the track so should be fine at Epsom too. She is one of the few in the field who has no stamina doubts and there's a lot more to come. She scored on dead ground as a juvenile and has a lively each-way chance for Aidan O'Brien. GO GO BOOTS 2 KICK off Boots. Considering Oisin Murphy is on board for the Gosdens, she is big price for all she has a bit to find on form. Her third in the Musidora at York last time was far from a disgrace. She looked very much a work in progress on the Knavesmire and ran around a bit in the closing stages. That's not what you want to see before tackling tricky Epsom and she looks more suited to the Ribblesdale at Royal Ascot next month. MINNIE HAUK 3 HAUK has to fly. Ryan Moore's choice of the Aidan O'Brien trio crossed the line with plenty left when winning the Cheshire Oaks on comeback. She will definitely come on for that run and is guaranteed to see out the extra furlong here. Handling Chester often means Epsom will be fine too. On the negative side, she didn't beat a lot on the Roodee so will need to fine more form-wise although O'Brien runners often take a big step up for a run. QILIN QUEEN 2 QUEEN won't be crowned. She is progressing nicely for Ed Walker and battled all the way to win a Newbury Listed race last time. That was on the nod from Revoir who also lines up today. That was over 1m2f when she went from the front and just held on so stamina may be an issue. Either way, it's a fair leap to be winning a Classic on current form. REVOIR 3 REVVED up. The line came a stride too soon when she finished second to Qilin Queen at Newbury last time but Ralph Beckett's filly looks a hotter prospect. She came home strongly so should be suited by this step up in distance and has improvement to come after just two starts. In-form Beckett's fillies often come on significantly for a run and she's right in the each-way picture. WEMIGHTAKEDLONGWAY 2 WAY out. Add an extra star if the ground is riding genuinely soft as she relished testing conditions when winning a Navan Group 3 over 1m2f last time. That was a big improvement on her effort in the Ballysax on comeback where she looked a mile off Oaks standard. She has a fair bit to find on form so needs that downpour. WHIRL 4 GIVE it a Whirl. She may yet prove to be the best of the Aidan O'Brien runners after her easy Musidora win at York last time. That has been a useful pointer to the Oaks and she had lots of running left at the end of 1m2f so stamina shouldn't be an issue. She seems to handle any ground and looks capable of improvement under Wayne Lordan. Templegate's Oaks tip and 1-2-3 prediction SAEED Bin Suroor has got an El of a chance in the £570,000 Betfred Oaks. ELWATEEN (4.00 Epsom, nap) caught the eye with a staying-on fourth in the 1,000 Guineas and can blossom over this longer trip. She won't mind a bit of cut in the ground and can go close at decent odds under Jim Crowley. Desert Flower showed her class when winning the Guineas at Newmarket and will be hard to beat if lasting home — which isn't guaranteed on pedigree. Buick backing Desert Flower to bloom in Oaks
The Betfred Oaks may be missing from both William Buick and Charlie Appleby's CV, but the leading rider is backing 1000 Guineas heroine Desert Flower to fill that void at Epsom on Friday. It has been a sublime start to the summer for the handler and his number one rider, and after picking up both Classics at Newmarket last month the pair now head to the Surrey Downs with an exceptional chance to continue their hot streak in racing's crown jewel events. The unbeaten Desert Flower has carried all before her in her career to date and now steps up in trip, with Buick confident her versatility will aid her bid to not only stay the trip but become the first filly since Love in 2020 to complete the Newmarket/Epsom double. Buick, who will team up with 2000 Guineas winner Ruling Court in Saturday's Derby, said of his Oaks mount: "I think she's tactically very versatile, but as she's only run over a mile you would have to ride her slightly accordingly. But I do think she's very versatile — each time I've ridden her she has adapted to the race scenario. "We could have kept her at a mile, it was put across the table as a plan, but we all felt she would get further. Whether that is a mile and a quarter or a mile and a half, we will see on Friday." Saeed Bin Suroor's Elwateen was fourth to Desert Flower on just her second start in the 1000 Guineas and the Newmarket handler could celebrate the 30th anniversary of Lammtarra's Derby success in style, as like her Rowley Mile conqueror she puts her stamina to the test. Bin Suroor said: "She ran a really good race in the Guineas and she came out of that well. To finish fourth in the Guineas on just her second run after winning her maiden was very good. "This is her first run over a mile and half, but she should stay because she is nice and relaxed. I think she'll run well." Aidan O'Brien has won the showpiece event 10 times and saddles a host of trial winners in search of number 11. Ryan Moore has plumped for Cheshire Oaks scorer Minnie Hauk from the Ballydoyle trio, as she bids to become the first filly since Enable to follow up success on the Roodee at Epsom. O'Brien said: "Minnie Hauk was just ready to start in Chester, we had to try to get a run into her somewhere before the Oaks and that suited perfectly. We knew it wouldn't be too demanding on her and she would have learned plenty. "She's a lovely filly with a good nature, a good traveller and has a good stride to her. She shows plenty of pace in her work in her half-speeds." The master of Ballydoyle will also be represented by Giselle and Whirl, who tuned up for duty with wins at Lingfield and in York's Musidora Stakes respectively. O'Brien continued: "Giselle got very keen through the winter and spring and wanted to do too much so we didn't get to do an awful lot with her — it was all about relaxing her. "If we were going to the Oaks she had to run and Lingfield was about the only place she could. She was probably very underdone fitness-wise in Lingfield, we were just hoping to get her started and go from there, so we were delighted with the way she won and she's come forward a lot since then we think. "Whirl is a very straightforward filly and Ryan was very happy to make the running on her in York. A filly came up either side of her, but that was no problem to her, she's got a lovely mind and she got the mile and a quarter very well and looked like a filly that could get further." Ralph Beckett has fond memories of the Oaks and having linked up with owner-breeder Julian Richmond-Watson when opening his Classic account with Look Here in 2008, the pair join forces again with Nottingham winner Revoir, who will attempt to reverse recent Newbury form with Ed Walker's Qilin Queen. Joseph O'Brien's Wemightakedlongway and John and Thady Gosden's Go Go Boots complete the field of nine.
