In the film, 17 schoolchildren suddenly disappear on a random night at 2:17 am in Maybrook, Pennsylvania. Later, we find that Gladys, who is secretly a witch, took possession of the kids and kidnapped them. Here is a look at the ending of the movie and its hidden meaning.
Weapons ending explained
After the schoolchildren disappear, their teacher, Justine Gandy, played by Julia Garner, looks into the matter. She takes the help of Alex Lilly (Cary Christopher). Through an eerie flashback, it is revealed that Gladys (Amy Madigan) initially threatened Alex and forced him to steal personal items of his classmates. With the items in hand, Gladys performed a strange ritual and took possession of the children. This ultimately resulted in their mysterious disappearance, as per ScreenRant.
The final confrontation takes place at Alex's residence. Under Gladys's possession, Paul (Alden Ehrenreich) and James (Austin Abrams) run after Justine. Following a great deal of struggle that comes with several jump scares, Justine is forced to murder Paul. And while she is exhausted from the fight, Alex uses a lock of her hair to set his possessed classmates against the witch. In a gruesome encounter, the children proceed to tear Gladys apart, breaking the witch's spell.

Are the missing kids okay at the end of Weapons?
The movie reveals early on that Gladys is ill. She drains the life force of Alex's parents, but it does not prove to be enough. She later enacts a spell to force the children to disappear. As per ScreenRant, she shuts them in the basement and drains their life force slowly.
After Gladys dies, the children are revealed to be recovering. Two years after the events of Weapons, the kids are seen as slowly trying to go back to normal life. Some of them have just started speaking, according to the child narrator of the movie. However, it is hinted that Gladys' magic might have been permanent. The final shot of the look in Matthew's eyes implies that Archer (Josh Brolin) might not have gotten his son back after all.
Weapons: Hidden meaning explained
When you read between the lines, there is more than just a witch and her strange rituals involving kids. According to ScreenRant, the witch Gladys is actually the heightened version of the movie's adults. She represents selfishness and indifference. Additionally, her desire to have demonic possession over kids gives off a connotation of child abuse.

Final Destination 7 in development as Bloodlines becomes franchise's highest-grossing film

Horror fans, get ready — 'Final Destination 7' is officially on the way. Following the massive success of 'Final Destination: Bloodlines', New Line Cinema is moving forward with a seventh film in the long-running franchise. Lori Evans Taylor, who co-wrote 'Bloodlines', is returning to write the new instalment. The previous film revived the series after a 14-year break and proved that the appetite for creative, death-defying horror remains strong. Taylor had teamed up with Gary Busick for 'Bloodlines', introducing a storyline where Death's curse continued through generations. 'Bloodlines', the sixth entry in the franchise, was released in May 2025 and debuted at No. 1 at the global box office. It made $51 million in its opening weekend in the U.S. — the best launch in the series' 25-year history. It went on to earn $286 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing 'Final Destination' film to date. The 'Final Destination' series, known for its inventive death scenes and the idea that you can't cheat Death, has now brought in more than $983 million globally. It is New Line's third-biggest horror franchise, sitting just behind The Conjuring universe and the It movies. Returning to produce the new film are Craig Perry, Sheila Hanahan Taylor, Jon Watts, Dianne McGunigle, and Toby Emmerich. Warren Zide, who has been involved with the series since the beginning, will serve as executive producer. No release date or cast details have been announced yet, but with 'Final Destination' 7 now in development, fans can expect more suspenseful twists, near-misses, and of course, the return of the series' true star — Death itself.

Freakier Friday Ending Explained: Do Eric and Anna End Up Together After Body Swap Chaos?

Freakier Friday has hit theaters almost two decades after the original film was released on the big screens. The story revolves around the character of Anna, portrayed by Lindsay Lohan, who is now in her 30s and a single mother to Harper Coleman, played by Julia Butters. Additionally, the movie also brings back Jamie Lee Curtis in her iconic character, whose body gets swapped by her daughter yet again. The film brings a fresh energy to the screens, as alongside comedy, the makers also explore the romance genre, as they show the sparks flying between Anna and Eric, played by Manny Jacinto. Freakier Friday ending explained Amid the chaos and comedy that takes place onscreen, it is the climax of Freakier Friday that holds the audiences on the edge of their seats. After Anna's body is swapped with her mom, Tess Coleman, and Harper's with that of Lily, the four of them talk head-on, opening up about their issues. Despite the clarifications, they fail to get back into their respective bodies. Harper, who is still trapped in Lily's body tries to act normal at Anna's wedding rehearsal lunch, hoping for her father, Eric, to reconsider his decision of remarriage. On the other hand, Lily calls Jake at the event, thinking that Eric might believe that Anna is cheating on him. The misunderstanding does take place at the venue, which leads to Anna and Harper storming out and attending Ella's concert. In the final scenes of the film, Anna goes on to perform a moving ballad with Harper, and at that moment, all of them go back to their original bodies. Eric, too, reaches the concert and announces from the crowd that he still wants to marry her. The pair tie the knot in the presence of their friends and family. As for the cast members of Freakier Friday, Lohan, Lee Curtis, and Jacinto are joined by Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Chad Michael Murray, and Stephen Tobolowsky, among others. Freakier Friday is successfully running in theaters.
