‘We Do Not Care' goes viral: the menopausal mantra that's resonating with millions
If you haven't already encountered Sanders — if five friends haven't texted you 'OMG THIS IS ME!!!' — stop right here, listen to her say the word 'care,' in an accent that's been described as 'zero f's,' and then resume reading. Get Love Letters: The Newsletter A weekly dispatch with all the best relationship content and commentary – plus exclusive content for fans of Love Letters, Dinner With Cupid, weddings, therapy talk, and more. Enter Email Sign Up It would be an understatement to say that Sanders' audience has been waiting for her. In the two months since that cri de coeur , she's gained 2.5 million new followers; landed a talent manager; started paid collaborations with Mattress Firm and Dove; and has either begun a movement, or given name to one that's been silently, angrily, building since, well, probably since forever. Advertisement 'I love her so much,' said Advertisement On social media, the millions of likes and comments on her posts are a window into an exhausted and resentful stew of emotions. 'We do not care if our coworkers think we are passive-aggressive,' read a comment on Instagram. 'The only other option I can offer at this time is aggressive-aggressive.' 'We do not care that we just got home from the grocery store and order pizza,' read another. 'We do not feel like cooking. We are tired from the grocery shopping.' 'We do not care if we're out of band aids.' a Facebook fan wrote. 'Use a maxi pad. We no longer need them.' Sanders, who is a mother and a wife, and who often appears on camera rocking a neck pillow, a sleep mask around her neck, and a napkin tucked into her shirt, takes aim at a range of antagonists. 'We do not care if we said we wanted to hang out soon, that probably was said when we was happy; we are no longer in a happy mood,' Sanders says in one post. 'We do not care if we don't show up for the family cookout. Most of y'all have undiagnosed trauma that we honestly just don't want to deal with right now.' Many women repeat Sanders 'we do not care' tagline to themselves in almost a self-soothing way, and the mantra has been compared to Mel Robbins's 'It's 'Let Them',' said WROR's Falcone, but behind their back, 'you're flipping them the bird.' Advertisement The We Do Not Care Club has arrived at a time when many women feel under particular attack, with the Even so, the unapologetic behavior Sanders describes sounds so radical that one club member called it 'aspirational.' As extreme as the not-caring sounds, the behavior, at its core, is simply about 'setting boundaries, and having compassion for yourself,' said psychiatrist The videos are resonating with women in middle age and beyond, she said, because they have 'lived the full cost' of putting their own needs last. 'They've seen that wearing the heels, or whatever they are doing, because they think it will make people like them, or they'll get the promotion, doesn't necessarily work. It just makes life harder for them.' Margie Lachman, a psychology professor at Brandeis University, says Sanders's We Do Not Care Club has gone viral not only because she's found a catchy way to describe how millions of women feel, but because it makes women feel like they are part of something. 'The fact that it's a 'club' is really meaningful,' she said, 'because this is a time when people are looking for support and validation.' Indeed, Sanders's talent manager, 'She also has a super exciting project in the works,' said Granados, who didn't provide details, but did share that she and Sanders had such an instant connection that on their first call they ended up professing their love for each other through tears. Advertisement So ingrained are societal messages that sometimes, or maybe it's often, the judgment is coming from inside your own brain. Consider Kristina Tsipouras Miller, the founder of the Who cares! she thought joyfully. Until she remembered. 'I said to my husband, '20-year-old Kristina would not have wanted to be seen with me',' she recalled. But now, to channel Sanders, if you do not like that we are comfortable, we do not care. 28 Style Pieces Amazon Customers Love July 2025
Amazon has a list of products called "Movers and Shakers," which is pretty much just fancy talk for things that are currently ~trending~. Here are some of the most stylish and loved pieces of clothing and accessories on the list recently: A comfy tank dress for something simple but versatile. Pair this with some wedge sandals, necklace, and clutch for a casual night out, or throw on a jean jacket and some Converse when you hit the park. Other styling options include (but certainly aren't limited to): adding a belt, a scarf or wrap, a light cardigan, or some statement earrings. Promising review: "Absolutely love the color! This dress is super cute. Looks great on. Classic cut, simple, no fuss. The material is really soft and stretchy. Definitely not see-through. IMO true to size. I could have easily sized down (I personally do not like skin-tight clothes), and it would have been fine. Still looks great. I have the hot pink and the red one. These can be dressed up or down. IMO, this does not look cheap. I am actually surprised by the quality. Would buy again and probably will, in different colors." —ParkecyPrice: $14.98 (available in sizes S–XXL and 12 colors) A deep V-neck tee that's a favorite wardrobe basic for lots of reviewers, so you're probably gonna want to grab more than one — and luckily, it comes in dozens of colors and patterns! Promising review: "These are some of my favorite tees. They are so soft and breathable in the heat. It doesn't wrinkle and has just the right stretch to make it a comfortable fit. Match it with a pair of jeans and some kicks or heels, and you'll be looking good." —Michelle ReneePrice: $7.19+ (available in sizes S–3X and 40 colors) A pair of wide-leg linen blend pants so you can look *and* feel ~effortlessly cool~ as you stroll down the boardwalk or mosey about the historic downtown square of whatever tourist town you're visiting. Promising review: "Love these! I didn't think they'd work for me, but they are a great fit. Fit a bit snugly in the hips, bottom, and thighs at first. After wearing for about an hour in this summer heat and humidity, they stretched out a bit, and whatever wrinkles were in them disappeared. Favorite thing about wearing linen/linen blend clothing. I definitely don't recommend sizing up because they will loosen with wear. I've washed them twice. First time I air dried them, and second time I dried them in the dryer, and they did not shrink. Very breathable fabric and cool in the heat. Beautiful colors. Will definitely order more. I love that they have pockets too!" —AfroballerinaPrice: $29.69 (available in sizes XS–XL and 15 colors) A pleated square-neck tank top, because tight, body-hugging camis and crop tops aren't always the vibe. Sometimes you want a looser summer tank with a beautiful drape instead — and that's where this comes in! Promising review: "I LOVE these tanks! Legit, I bought the teal one twice because I accidentally stained the first one a week after I bought the first one, and was so sad. Then I also bought the black and peach ones. They have a really nice square cut, cover wide bra straps, don't swoop too low in the armpit, and have a great length. It's basically the perfect tank for long torsos! They are super soft, didn't fade or shrink in the wash either. The fabric is great quality, and I feel confident and comfortable while wearing them. 100% recommend. Affordable AND worth every penny!" —Brittany L. MurphyPrice: $8.49+ (available in sizes S–4X and 43 colors and styles) A moisture-wicking, quick-dry tennis skort since there's no reason you can't look cute while being active all summer long. Whenever there's a good chance you'll be moving your body and getting sweaty — walks, pickleball, sightseeing, etc. — this darling number has you covered in terms of fashion *and* functionality! Promising review: "These are the best skirts. I have five of them in four different colors. Very comfortable and can be dressed up for the office. I highly recommend!!!" —TifPrice: $18.86 (available in sizes XS–XXL and tons of colors) A casual swing dress with pockets that'll quickly become a regular in your weekly rotation. It's cute, comfy, and looks great with pretty much any pair of shoes! Promising review: "This VERY reasonably priced dress is so cute! Perfect for an outdoor party, or home chores, or a quick trip to the store. Washes well. Fabric is cool in the heat. Fits as described, with just enough flare in the skirt. Glad I bought two!" —Labbylover197732Price: $19.99 (available in sizes XS–3X and 43 colors and patterns) A spaghetti strap shorts romper promising pajama-like comfort alongside a very trendy slouchy-chic aesthetic — sounds like a winning combo to me! Promising review: "I'm just going to say that I absolutely love these rompers! They are well-priced, well-made, and arrived quickly! The size I would say would be a true fit in terms of how you want to wear them. I personally like my rompers to be a little bit bigger, loose, and baggy, and the size I bought was perfect for that. Ended up loving them so much that I bought one more in each shade, leaving my closet with six of these rompers now. They're, in my opinion, just the coziest thing to wear during the spring and summer when the days are nice. Being out and about or just in the coziness of your own home, you don't have to worry about being uncomfortable or itchy in these. After my mom saw them, she decided to purchase some and has been loving them as well. Overall, if you are looking for a casual and cozy outfit, look no further because they will make you so happy annnnd they have pockets." —ShaunaPrice: $29.99 (available in sizes XS–XXL and 29 colors and styles) Or, a similar slouchy mini dress (with built-in shorts) if you're going for a trendy, big-name brand (you know the one) look on a budget. Promising review: "One of my favorite Amazon purchases! So comfy and cute. I get compliments all the time. Here to order another one because I want to wear it every day! Buy it!" —Jenypher JonesPrice: $25.63 (available in sizes XS–XXL and 23 colors) A ribbed scoop-neck short-sleeve T-shirt that reviewers say is soft, wonderfully stretchy, and has a nice thickness to it — not too thin, nor too heavy. Basically, it's comfortably snug on the body without being *too* tight or formfitting. Promising review: "These are my new favorite shirts. I've ordered three of them in different colors. They fit perfectly, don't lose their shape throughout the day from stretching, and stay fitted to me all day, without being too tight. The material is really soft. I will be buying a few more. You won't regret buying these." —Heather McCrawPrice: $11.99+ (available in sizes XS–3XL and 30 colors) A gorgeous floral cover-up with so many styling possibilities, it'll practically pay for itself by summer's end. Slip this on over your swimsuits, dresses, tanks, and other warm-weather outfits to give them an extra fashionable touch. Promising review: "I am so big into this kimono look. I now have four of them, all in different colors and lengths. There is plenty of fabric if I want to cross the front and belt it. It falls to mid-thigh in the back (the front curves upward). The first time I wore it, I got a LOT of compliments on it. I am very, very happy with this!" —anniebPrice: $9.49+ (available in sizes S–3X and 37 styles) A pair of high-waisted yoga pants you'll love for lounging about at home (obviously) but love even more when you wear them to work and are actually comfortable all day long. Yep, you heard me right — reviewers say these yoga pants are dressy enough to pass the office dress code! Promising review: "I wanted some comfortable pants for work that still look professional, and these are just that! Stretchy, thick material that looks like wide-leg slacks. Front pockets are functional. I love the inseam length options — I'm a millennial and still need my pants dragging the ground! They're perfect!" —Amazon CustomerPrice: $19.99+ (available in sizes XXS–3X, five inseam lengths, and 28 colors) A pair of high-waisted 7-inch swimming shorts made from a lightweight, quick-dry fabric that's chlorine-resistant and UPF 50+ protected, making them a fabulous alternative to classic swimsuit bottoms on days you plan to swim *and* play some beach volleyball (or maybe go for a paddle). Plus, they have a built-in liner and spacious side pockets, too! Promising review: "These shorts are everything I was looking for! The high waist is super comfortable, and the quick-dry material is a game-changer for beach and pool days. I love the side pockets, they're deep enough for my phone and other essentials. The liner adds extra comfort without feeling bulky. They stay in place, even during water activities. Highly recommend for anyone looking for cute, modest, and functional swim shorts!" —LillyPrice: $25.80 (available in sizes S–3X and 24 colors and patterns) A longline sports bra since it's so buttery soft and comfy, you could probably live in it 24/7 (and honestly, nobody is stopping you from doing that — just try to wash it every few days, please). Lots of reviewers find it *very* similar to the pricey Lululemon version or even better. Promising review: "Soooo comfortable, I live in this top now. I sleep in it and I've worked out in it. The footbed molds nicely to your feet after just a few wears, and the adjustable straps make it easy to get the right fit. I've worn them for long walks and errands with no issues — no rubbing or blisters at all. The earthy tone goes with everything and looks great with jeans, shorts, or casual dresses. I also appreciate the sturdy sole, which doesn't wear down quickly. Highly recommend if you're looking for a Birkenstock-style sandal without the high price tag!" —HeatherRPrice: $29.98+ (available in sizes 5–13, wide sizes, and 26 colors) Or, a daintier twisted toe-strap pair from the same brand because — you guessed it — they're just as impressive as the daintier Birkenstocks Mayaris style, only for less. The nearly 60,000 5-star ratings don't lie. Promising review: "I bought these shoes right before my honeymoon because I wanted comfortable sandals that I would be able to walk long distances in. My husband and I love to get to know cities by walking around. We probably walked 15-20 miles in these shoes in all sorts of weather over all sorts of terrain, and they were INCREDIBLE. We thought for sure they would start to come apart when we spent an entire day at the lake with them fully submerged in water. Nope. They held strong. Cannot recommend these enough. I also bought my husband a pair from this brand before the trip — he is not a sandal-wearing guy. But these completely converted him. He loves them!" —AliPrice: $28.49+ (available in sizes 5–12, wide sizes, and 22 colors) A ribbed racerback tank featuring a double-layered bust and removable pads, so you can ditch the bra without necessarily having to ditch the support, too. I'll definitely order more!" —benPrice: $24.99 (available in sizes XS–XXL and 44 colors) A cap-sleeve T-shirt that's casual but elegant, and more importantly, designed to keep your armpits and bra out of sight (and that's always welcome).
