Effective inter-govt agency action crucial to address 3R issues
In tackling challenges related to 3R sentiments, the Alert, Sensitive, Engagement and Control approach will serve as the main strategy in managing sensitive issues in Malaysia.
The council also discussed a study on unity issues from the security aspect, presented by the police, which revealed 44 3R-related cases reported between January and April 2025.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, who is also council chairman, in a statement after the meeting on Tuesday (May 6), emphasised the importance of taking firm and effective action against provocation and racial sentiment on social media.
He also called on enforcement agencies such as the police, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and others to act swiftly, while urging all government agencies to work together comprehensively to safeguard the country's harmony and unity.
Meanwhile, National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang, in the same statement, said his ministry would organise the Madani Nation-Building Conference in June.
He said that the conference would provide a national platform for discussing approaches, strategies, and policies aimed at strengthening a united and progressive Malaysia based on Madani values.
During the same meeting, the National Service Training Department presented on the re-implementation of the National Service Training Programme, which would involve citizens aged 17 to 35 years under a new concept based on the National Service Training Act, Security White Paper, National Unity Policy, and National Community Policy.
The government had earlier decided that the basic National Service 3.0 training at public universities, polytechnics, and teacher education institutes would commence with the intake of students for the 2026/2027 academic session. – Bernama

Jelutong MP RSN Rayer. - BERNAMA GEORGE TOWN: The Penang Hindu Endowment Board has named Jelutong MP RSN Rayer as its new chairman, effective from August 1, 2025. His term will run until July 31, 2026, as confirmed in an official statement by PHEB. Senator Dr A. Lingeshwaran has been appointed as the deputy chairman following the board's inaugural meeting. Melor-Ketereh to Kampung Pak Badol road upgrade completed
BACHOK: The upgrading of the route from Melor-Ketereh junction to Kampung Pak Badol has been successfully completed. Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi confirmed the project's completion during a handover ceremony. The 3.3 km project, which began in November 2020, was finished on June 28 at a cost of RM195 million. Nanta stated that this initiative is part of the government's commitment under the 11th Malaysia Plan to enhance federal road networks. He emphasised that the project was executed using the Public Works Department's conventional method, meeting engineering standards. The upgraded stretch connects Kota Bharu to Pekan Melor, which was previously upgraded to a four-lane dual carriageway. Nanta highlighted that this route is a crucial transport link between Kelantan and Terengganu. He expects the upgrade to reduce traffic congestion and improve regional connectivity. The project is also anticipated to boost social activities and stimulate the local economy. Nanta announced plans to extend the FT003 route by six kilometres to Pasir Puteh at a cost of RM169 million. He described roads as symbols of progress and catalysts for sustainable development. The minister linked the project to the MADANI principle, emphasising infrastructure that benefits communities. Nanta also dismissed viral social media claims about motorcyclists being charged tolls from October. He urged the public not to spread false information that could mislead people. – Bernama
