Pune-based Connecting Trust to celebrate 2 decades of suicide prevention
Speaking about how she got the idea of setting up Connecting Trust, Founding Trustee Arnavaz Damania, 87, said, 'I had lost a very precious person in my own family to suicide, and each of us was grappling with our own pain and trauma. I was scared of my own thoughts and knew I had to find a way to heal in order to face the reality of what had happened. In that process, I began to wonder – how could I support other mothers, grandmothers, or aunts going through similar pain? Was there a space that could be created where people could express their grief and struggles openly with the hope of preventing future suicides?'
Thereafter, this Shiv Chhatrapati awardee, who has made significant contributions to promote women's hockey, dedicated herself to creating supportive and emotionally nurturing spaces for those in distress.
'Twenty years ago, talking about suicide or mental health was a real taboo. We were often told that the older generation could not understand the struggles of the youth, and they would not be able to help. But I refused to accept defeat. I decided to take action.
'What I started may have been just a drop in the ocean, but it has led to meaningful change, and we have been able to gather tremendous support along the way. The journey has had its ups and downs, and I often speak at sessions appealing that unless one is willing to climb the hill, he/she will never witness the beauty at the top. You cannot let the muck around bury you – rise above it,' Damania said, adding that their organisation was one with a big heart.
According to Pranita Madkaikar, Chief Executive Officer, Connecting Trust, all their projects were volunteer-driven and funded by generous individuals, corporations, and institutions.
On August 23, a special gathering will be organised for the volunteers and supporters of Connecting Trust.
A special performance of actor Boman Irani's Class Act will be held on October 4 as part of the anniversary celebrations, apart from a candlelight march on October 11, 'in remembrance of those lost to suicide and to create awareness on the issue.' Another key highlight of the anniversary celebrations is an international conference focusing on various dimensions of suicide prevention to be held from November 28-30.
A volunteer said more than 14 lakh persons have been assisted as part of their outreach programs. 'Connecting Trust's distress helplines 9922004305/9922001122 have been accessed by more than four lakh persons in the last 15 years. The suicide survivors' program has helped connect with 50,000 families, and as part of the peer educator program, students from 8-10 different schools are equipped to primarily check for their distress and coping strategies,' he added.

Glenmark, Alembic Pharma, Sun Pharma recall drugs in US, says USFDA
Drug makers Glenmark, Alembic Pharmaceuticals and Sun Pharma are recalling products in the US due to manufacturing issues, according to the US health regulator. Mumbai-based Glenmark is recalling two products in the market, the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) said in its latest Enforcement Report. Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Inc, USA, a subsidiary of the company, is recalling Carvedilol tablets, used to treat heart failure, hypertension, and heart attack, in multiple strengths. The New Jersey-based firm is recalling 55,560 units of the affected lot due to "presence of a nitrosamine, N-Nitroso Carvedilol impurity above the current acceptable intake level," the USFDA stated. The company is also recalling 17,496 bottles of Carvedilol tablets as "results for N-Nitroso Carvedilol Impurity-1 (NNCI) impurity observed to be above the FDA-recommended limit of NMT 4.0 ppm," it added. Glenmark initiated the Class II recall in August this year. USFDA said the company is also recalling 22,656 bottles of Theophylline extended-release tablets (400 mg) for failed dissolution specifications. Alembic Pharmaceuticals is recalling 9,492 bottles of Doxepin Hydrochloride capsules, used in the treatment of insomnia, the US health regulator stated. The Class II recall is due to the "Presence of Nitrosamine Drug Substance Related Impurity above the proposed interim limit," it said. The company initiated the recall on July 25 this year. New Jersey-based Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Inc is recalling 11,328 bottles of Spironolactone Tablets, used to treat high blood pressure, due to "Presence of foreign substance: identified as aluminum," the regulator said. The company commenced the Class II recall on August 5. As per the USFDA, a Class-II recall is initiated when the use of, or exposure to, a violative product may lead to temporary or medically reversible health consequences, or when the likelihood of serious adverse health outcomes is minimal.

Pancha Kosha: India's First Dedicated Aerial Art and Yoga School in Rishikesh
VMPL Rishikesh (Uttarakhand) [India], August 18: Pancha Koshas Aerial Art and Yoga School has developed as India's exclusive aerial yoga and aerial art school. This Rishikesh-based art school next to Secret Garden Cafe in Tapovan, is dedicatedly teaching aerial-based yoga courses, drifting from the traditional mat yoga to offer training suspended in silk hammocks. Founder Sagar Kinare spent years in wellness and movement before launching this aerial-only school. His decision came from personal practice and a belief that aerial yoga could unlock deeper transformation. "Aerial yoga came into my life during an injury when traditional yoga wasn't enough. That first class gave me freedom, strength, and clarity I hadn't found elsewhere. It planted the seed for Pancha Koshas, a space where healing meets movement, and discipline meets creativity through aerial arts," shares Sagar Kinare, Founder of Pancha Koshas. The school's name draws from yogic philosophy -- the five koshas represent physical, energetic, mental, intuitive, and blissful layers of human existence. "We guide people to explore these layers through aerial practice, helping them reconnect with their essence while suspended in silk," says Sagar. Sagar further points out, "Online aerial yoga practices can seem tough, through our courses, we try to close the gap between taking the first step that leads to more professional practices, with practice and time. Pancha Koshas teaches only aerial courses, unlike other yoga schools that mix different styles. Students learn aerial psychology and aerial-specific anatomy, subjects that are not taught elsewhere in India. The school provides more teaching and practice hours than competitors, with programs ranging from daily workshops to multi-level teacher training and specialized Aerial Yin sessions -- approaching aerial yoga as a form of art. Pancha Koshas requires graduates to practice for three months after training before receiving certification. This extra step ensures students are truly prepared to teach, contrasting with other programs that certify immediately. Professional equipment and strict safety protocols support this commitment to quality instruction. Faculty members work solely in aerial yoga, bringing focused expertise to each class. All instructors hold aerial-specific certifications and anatomical training. Classes accommodate different skill levels through modifications and progressive teaching methods. "We're creating India's first aerial community while honoring yoga's spiritual roots," Sagar explains. "We are not building performers. We are cultivating conscious movers. Through Pancha Koshas, our vision is to grow aerial education across India and the world, one breath, one student, one flight at a time."
