'Love India; always feel at home when I'm here': US Intelligence Chief Tulsi Gabbard
New Delhi: US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard expressed her deep admiration for India, describing it as a place where she "always feels at home."
During her visit, she spoke about her fondness for Indian culture, cuisine, and spirituality, highlighting the influence of the Bhagavad Gita in her life.
In an interview with ANI on Monday, Gabbard said, "Let me just say, I love so much about India. I always feel at home when I'm here."
She added, "The people are so welcoming and kind, and the food is always delicious. Dal Makhani and anything with fresh paneer are my favourites."
Gabbard, known for her distinguished service in the US Army Reserve, has had a career spanning over two decades.
She also shared how Krishna's teachings to Arjuna give her strength, peace, and comfort in her daily life.
"My personal spiritual practice and relationship with God are at the center of my life. Every day, I do my best to live in a way that is pleasing to God and to be of service to all of God's children," Gabbard said.
Reflecting on the Bhagavad Gita, she added, "At different times in my life, whether serving in war zones or facing challenges today, I turn to Krishna's teachings to Arjuna. These teachings provide me with strength, peace, and great comfort through all my days."
Gabbard arrived in India as part of her multi-nation visit, marking her first trip to the country since assuming office as the US Director of National Intelligence. The Asia leg of her trip will conclude with her address at the Raisina Dialogue on March 18.
Her visit follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi's trip to the US in February, where he met Gabbard and praised her as a "strong votary" of India-US friendship. Gabbard called it an "honor" to welcome PM Modi and expressed her commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.

Reasi (Jammu and Kashmir): Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday flagged off two Vande Bharat Express trains from Katra Railway Station, directly connecting Jammu division with Kashmir. This marks a major milestone in Jammu and Kashmir's railway connectivity. Before flagging off the trains, Prime Minister Modi interacted with school children onboard and also spoke with railway staff members present on the train. The new Vande Bharat Express service will reduce the travel time between Katra and Srinagar from the current 6-7 hours by road to just about 3 hours. The trains aim to provide a fast, comfortable, and reliable travel option for residents, tourists, and pilgrims. The train will run through the Anji Khad Bridge, which is India's first cable-stayed railway bridge, and the Chenab Bridge, which is the highest railway bridge in the world. These trains have been specially designed to operate in the cold climatic conditions of the Kashmir Valley. Earlier on Friday, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the world's highest railway arch bridge - 'Chenab Railway Bridge' and India's first cable-stayed 'Anji Bridge' in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district. In a remarkable gesture, Prime Minister Modi waved the Tiranga, the Indian national flag and carried it forward on the deck of the bridge on the Chenab River. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw were present during the inauguration. Before the inauguration of the bridge on the Chenab, the Prime Minister inspected the railway arch bridge. These bridges are part of the ambitious Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Link (USBRL) project in Jammu and Kashmir. The iconic Chenab Railway Bridge, the world's highest railway arch bridge, is part of the Katra-to-Sangaldan stretch, connecting New Delhi directly with Kashmir via Katra. Situated in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, the Chenab Bridge is an engineering marvel standing at a height of 359 metres above the riverbed. It will officially connect the Kashmir Valley with the rest of India via rail for the first time in history. The project faced numerous engineering and logistical challenges due to the region's difficult terrain and seismic sensitivity. Yet, after years of meticulous work, the bridge now stands as a testament to India's technological prowess and commitment to inclusive development. It marks a transformative chapter in India's infrastructural landscape, promising greater connectivity, economic growth, and social integration in the region. The Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project is 272 km long USBRL project, constructed worth around Rs 43,780 crore, includes 36 tunnels (spanning 119 km) and 943 bridges. The project establishes all-weather, seamless rail connectivity between the Kashmir Valley and the rest of the country, aiming to transform regional mobility and drive socio-economic integration.

Musk's Starlink will be given 3rd satcom services licence after Airtel and Jio: Scindia
Gwalior: Indian Minister for Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia on Thursday said Elon Musk's Starlink will be the third satellite internet company to be given a license for providing services in India. So far, Bharti's OneWeb and Reliance Jio have received a license from the Department of Telecom, government of India, the minister told reporters. "In the coming days, the third license will be provided," he said, referring to Starlink. Once licenses are given, the minister said the spectrum would be allocated to them. "And after this, the government will provide the spectrum. Subsequently, satellite telecom services will be fully operational in the country at a rapid pace. I am sure the customer base in India will grow substantially," the minister added. "Starlink's satellite connectivity is like a new flower in the telecom bouquet," he said, explaining the progress of the telecom ecosystem in the country. "Earlier, there was only a fixed line. Today, there is mobile connectivity and broadband connectivity. Optical fibre connectivity has also come in. Along with these, satellite connectivity is also very important," he quipped. Scindia asserted that internet penetration can only be increased through satellite communication services, especially in remote areas where laying wires and installing towers would be difficult. Recently, Airtel and Jio have also partnered with Starlink to bring the latter's high-speed satellite internet services to their customers in India. Starlink will use Airtel and Jio's strong dealership network to sell and promote its services. Satellite telecom in India will help the country provide much-needed services in remote interior places where conventional telecom services tend to be costly. Starlink's entry into India has gained currency lately, with Donald Trump winning the US presidency for a second term. Elon Musk is a close aide of President Trump. In mid-April, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal met a delegation from Elon Musk-owned satellite internet services company Starlink. Their discussions covered "Starlink's cutting-edge technology platform, their existing partnerships and future investment plans in India," Minister Goyal had then said in a post on X.

In an exclusive interview with ANI, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal confirmed that US trade team officials have reached India, with additional team members expected to arrive soon to participate in the negotiations. The talks come against the backdrop of recent statements by Goyal in Paris on June 1, where he outlined that India and the United States are working toward providing preferential market access to their respective businesses. Teams from both nations are actively collaborating on the proposed bilateral trade agreement framework. When asked about US President Donald Trump's announcement to increase tariffs on steel and aluminium to 50 percent, Goyal indicated that both countries remain committed to addressing trade issues through bilateral dialogue. "Let us wait and watch... both the US and India share good relations and we will continue to work together to resolve all these issues bilaterally," Goyal said. This represents more than a doubling of trade volumes between the world's largest democracy and its most powerful economy. The negotiations in Delhi mark a significant step forward in what both nations view as a strategic economic partnership, with potential implications for global trade patterns and supply chain configurations in key sectors including technology, pharmaceuticals, defence, and agriculture.
