Brighton v West Ham
The Seagulls' push for European qualification isn't dead in the water but their chances have reduced dramatically after five games without a win.
Fabian Hurzeler will be hopeful of stopping the rot this Saturday as the Hammers are one of very few teams below Brighton in the form table.
The atmosphere at West Ham is growing increasingly toxic as their dismal season draws to a close.
A draw at home to relegated Southampton last time out was met with much derision.
The reverse fixture ended 1-1 back in December but we're backing a home win this time around.
Our Prediction: 2-1 to Brighton
5
Newcastle v Ipswich
The Magpies were soundly beaten by Aston Villa last weekend but they remain among the top flight's most in-form side having won their previous five in the league.
Only Manchester City have scored more home goals than Newcastle this campaign and Alexander Isak will be licking his lips at the prospect of taking on the league's third-worst defence on Saturday.
The Swedish striker scored a hat-trick at Portman Road earlier this season.
The Tractor Boys have earned twice as many points on the road than at home this season but that isn't saying much if truth be told.
Our Prediction: 3-0 to Newcastle
5
Wolves v Leicester
These two sides are separated by just four places in the table but they're worlds apart in terms of form.
Vitor Pereira's side are flying having made it five consecutive wins when they picked up three points at Old Trafford last Sunday.
They've had a favourable run of fixtures and that continues this weekend against the Foxes, now confirmed to be a Championship outfit in 2025/26.
Statistically, this is the league's most in-form side at home to the most out-of-form side.
Our Prediction: 3-1 to Wolves
5
Bournemouth v Manchester United
The Cherries have won just one of their last ten games in all competitions but they remain in pole position to qualify for the Conference League as it stands.
It wasn't that long ago this match-up would be considered a laughable mismatch in favour of the Red Devils but most impartial neutrals would deem Bournemouth the superior team at this moment in time.
Andoni Iraola watched his troops stroll to a 3-0 victory at Old Trafford just before Christmas and he'll feel confident of a repeat as Ruben Amorim will surely be prioritising the Europa League semi-finals.
Bournemouth rank in the Premier League's top four for shots and xG this season whereas Man United sit in the bottom half for both metrics.
Our Prediction: 3-1 to Bournemouth
5
Liverpool v Tottenham
The Reds need just a single point to confirm themselves as champions of England but you're deluded if you think the hosts will be happy to play out an easy draw.
Arne Slot's side smashed Spurs 4-0 at Anfield in the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final in February and the last league meeting was the unhinged 3-6 result around the festive period when both Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz bagged braces.
With Liverpool motivated to seal their triumph in fine style and Spurs distracted by Europa League commitments, Sunday afternoon could get very messy for the visitors.
Ange Postecoglou may even rest some of his key players ahead of Bodo Glimt's visit to North London.
On paper this is a fixture between two of the top flight's so-called 'big six' but the reality is this particular meeting is the league leaders at home to 16th.

Liverpool to pass £200m in player sales with Ben Doak set to join Bournemouth

Liverpool are about to pass the £200million mark in player sales this summer with teenage winger Ben Doak set to complete a move to Bournemouth. The 19-year-old is on the verge of finalising his transfer to the south coast in a £25million deal, the PA news agency understands. Doak, signed from Celtic in 2022 for £600,000, has made 10 appearances for Liverpool in his first two years and spent the whole of last campaign on loan at Championship side Middlesbrough, where he scored three goals in 24 games. He follows Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Caoimhin Kelleher and Jarell Quansah out of the club this summer, with the income from those sales going a long way to offset a transfer spend in excess of £300m. That figure could go higher with Liverpool still retaining an interest in Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi and Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, which would cost them at least another £150m. However, there are likely to be more departures from Anfield with Kostas Tsimikas – now third-choice left-back after the arrival of Milos Kerkez and not in the squad for Friday's win over Bournemouth – linked with Nottingham Forest. Midfielder Harvey Elliott remains in talks with RB Leipzig, who are likely to make a formal move once Chelsea target Xavi Simons' future is decided. West Ham were understood to also be interested in the England Under-21 international but the Bundesliga is currently the most attractive option for him.

Gary Neville calls out six Arsenal players who 'let themselves down' vs Man Utd

Gary Neville has called out six Arsenal players who 'let themselves down' in the 1-0 Premier League away win over Manchester United on Sunday. Riccardo Calafiori scored the only goal of the game in the 13th minute as Arsenal got off to a winning start in their first match of the new season. Despite the impressive result, Arsenal's performance was far from perfect and even manager Mikel Arteta admitted his side were not at their best. Football pundit Roy Keane was critical of Arsenal for not being clinical enough and defending a 1-0 lead when they should've killed the game off. Neville has now called out Arsenal stars Viktor Gyokeres, Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice, Martin Zubimendi and Gabriel Martinelli. Metro's new weekly football newsletter: In The Mixer. Speaking on his Gary Neville Podcast on Sky Sports' YouTube channel, the former United defender said: 'They didn't play well, Arsenal. 'For the players they had out on the pitch – Rice, Zubimendi, Odegaard, Saka, Martinelli, Gyokeres – they really did let themselves down at times. 'Particularly on the counter-attack, they were really sloppy. They didn't really get their passing going.' Neville was also critical of how Arsenal centre-back William Saliba played in the opening stages of the match at Old Trafford. 'The two centre-backs grew into the game and they are outstanding, a brilliant pair, but Saliba had one of the shakiest 10 minutes I've seen from him in the first period of the game,' Neville added. Two of the players Neville called out – Gyokeres and Zubimendi – only arrived at the Emirates this summer. Arsenal paid Sporting CP £63.5m to sign striker Gyokeres and also splashed out £51m on Real Sociedad midfielder Zubimendi. Gunners legend Tony Adams feels Arsenal should've signed Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa instead of Gyokeres in the summer transfer window. 'The Portuguese lad (Gyokeres)… I don't know yet,' Adams said. 'He's not tried and tested [in English football]. More Trending 'I would have liked to have seen them get Ollie Watkins to be honest with you. 'He's a Gooner, he might have given us a year and we might have won the title.' Gyokeres had 21 touches, completed just four of nine passes and failed to register a single shot on target against United. 'It was a tough day at work for him,' Arsenal icon Freddie Ljungberg said about Gyokeres' Premier League debut. Rio Ferdinand backs Man Utd's move for 'fantastic' Carlos Baleba alternative

Manchester United are considering making a move for a young England star as an alternative to Carlos Baleba, according to reports. And Rio Ferdinand believes the 'Michael Carrick-esque' player would be a great signing for his former club. United kicked off their 2025/26 Premier League campaign on Sunday with a 1-0 loss to Arsenal, though their performance was much-improved from last season. After spending around £200million on revamping his attack, Ruben Amorim now wants a box-to-box midfielder at Old Trafford and had set his sights on Brighton's Baleba. But the Seagulls insist their player will not be sold this summer and have slapped a £115m price tag on him, which has led to United cooling their interest. Metro's new weekly football newsletter: In The Mixer. Exclusive analysis, FPL tips and transfer talk sent straight to your inbox every Friday – sign up, it's an open goal. However, talkSPORT report that the Red Devils remain fans of Adam Wharton and are weighing up whether to try and buy the Crystal Palace star before the transfer deadline on September 1. Wharton has been incredibly impressive since joining Palace from Blackburn Rovers last year in a deal worth up to £22m, playing a key role in their FA Cup and Community Shield triumphs. He was part of the England squad that reached the final of Euro 2024 though he has only been capped once for his country, mainly due to untimely injuries. The likes of Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are also interested in his services but it was reported earlier this summer that the 21-year-old, valued at over £70m, is happy to stay at Selhurst Park for another season. In any case, the Eagles don't want to sell Wharton in this transfer window, especially as they look set to lose fellow star players Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi to Tottenham and Liverpool respectively. Wharton played the full 90 minutes on Sunday as Palace were held to a goalless draw by Chelsea in their opening Premier League clash. Speaking on his YouTube channel following the defeat to Arsenal, United legend Ferdinand said: 'We've been talking about Baleba, he's been the hot topic for the last month or so, but before that, Adam Wharton was one of the guys I was saying [United should sign]. 'He's the nearest to a Michael Carrick type, who's a controller, who can play, who plays forward from that deeper line position at times. He can be an eight if you need him to be and can run on at times if need be, but he's more of a conductor and can control things. 'I watched him in a couple of games last season against big teams like Man City and Liverpool, and he looks unfazed. He looks ready for a big occasion. More Trending 'He enjoys pressure, can play under pressure, and the game kind of slows down when the ball is around him. I love him. I think he's a fantastic footballer. 'But what I would say at Manchester United, we have Kobbie Mainoo. I think Mainoo can control the game, play deep. I think Mainoo can play that role given the opportunity because you can play through somebody like him and you can get out of tight situations and open the game up for your attacking players. 'You might just have to be a patient young man at the moment for the team to find its way for the manager to then put the trust in him to go and play. 'But if it was me personally, if I was playing two in the midfield, Kobbie Mainoo would definitely play because he's a super talent who can handle the ball as well as anybody that Man United have got right now and I would give him that responsibility.'
