Lucknow: Thirteen students, who prepared under the Uttar Pradesh govt's flagship
Mukhyamantri Abhyudaya Coaching Scheme
, are among the successful candidates in Tuesday's Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Exam 2024 results.
The scheme aims to help students from underprivileged backgrounds prepare for competitive exams at centres close to their homes, free of cost. It was launched in Feb 2021, and 59 candidates have cleared the UPSC exams since then. In addition, 121 students cleared the UP PCS exams.
An official from the department of social welfare, which is spearheading the programme, said out of 13, four candidates took coaching at the Lucknow centre and two in Prayagraj.
Abhyudaya coaching is conducted in 166 centres across all 75 districts of the state. Training is provided for competitive exams like NEET, IIT/JEE and NDA. Besides helping students with preparations for the main exams, mock interviews are held to help them prepare holistically. Retired and serving bureaucrats hold classes to provide in-depth, experience-based knowledge to students. "By providing high-quality education and coaching, this scheme empowers students towards self-reliance. Students associated with this scheme, operated by the state's social welfare department, prepared for competitive exams at Abhyudaya coaching centres," he said.

Social welfare minister Asim Arun said Yogi govt is committed to advancing talented children from poor and underprivileged backgrounds. He mentioned that 280 candidates were preparing for the PCS Mains exam under the coaching centres operated by the Abhyudaya Scheme.
