Company Overview
Created through a settlement between NRG Energy and the California Public Utilities Commission, EVgo (NASDAQ:EVGO) is a provider of electric vehicle charging solutions, operating fast charging stations across the United States.
Sales Growth
A company's long-term sales performance can indicate its overall quality. Any business can have short-term success, but a top-tier one grows for years. Luckily, EVgo's sales grew at an incredible 75.9% compounded annual growth rate over the last five years. Its growth beat the average industrials company and shows its offerings resonate with customers.
EVgo Quarterly Revenue
We at StockStory place the most emphasis on long-term growth, but within industrials, a half-decade historical view may miss cycles, industry trends, or a company capitalizing on catalysts such as a new contract win or a successful product line. EVgo's annualized revenue growth of 95.9% over the last two years is above its five-year trend, suggesting its demand was strong and recently accelerated. EVgo recent performance stands out, especially when considering many similar Renewable Energy businesses faced declining sales because of cyclical headwinds.
EVgo Year-On-Year Revenue Growth
This quarter, EVgo reported wonderful year-on-year revenue growth of 36.5%, and its $75.29 million of revenue exceeded Wall Street's estimates by 1.4%.

Crypto firm which just filed for IPO won't shut down
Gemini, the crypto exchange founded by billionaire Winklevoss twins, has hit the streets with a new campaign around its Bitcoin credit card. On Aug. 19, Ethan Kimmel, the growth lead at Gemini credit card, posted on X a photograph of a print advertisement for the product on a busy street, "Spend Dollars, Earn Bitcoin." The card lets you make purchases and earn rewards in the form of more than 50 cryptocurrencies. "We'll never stay silent," remarked Kimmel, in response to Gemini co-founder Tyler Winklevoss's X post on July 26, in which he accused the global banking giant, JPMorgan Chase (NYSE: JPM), of not onboarding Gemini as part of an alleged Operation Chokepoint 2.0 against crypto firms. "Sorry Jamie Dimon, we're not going to stay silent," Tyler had said, referring to the JPMorgan CEO. The banking institution had, however, said, 'JPMorgan Chase banks many of the best-known crypto companies in the world and is currently onboarding new crypto clients. It's patently false that we would block this traffic." But it didn't comment on Gemini the crypto exchange doesn't seem to be pulling brakes on its aggressive expansion. The firm recently filed for an initial public offering (IPO), following in the footsteps of other crypto firms like the stablecoin issuer Circle Internet Group (NYSE: CRCL) and the crypto exchange Bullish (NYSE: BLSH). It plans to list its shares on Nasdaq under the ticker GEMI. Gemini founders donate $21M to pro-Trump PAC Founded in 2014, Gemini is one of the most prominent crypto exchanges. The Winklevoss twins, the founders of the exchange, are considered among the world's first Bitcoin billionaires. On Aug. 20, Tyler informed the crypto community on X that he and his brother have donated $21 million in Bitcoin to a pro-Donald Trump political action committee (PAC) called the Digital Freedom Fund PAC. The PAC's aim is to help realize Trump's vision of making America the "crypto capital of the world," he said. It will support pro-crypto candidates in the Republican Party during the midterm elections in November 2026, Tyler added, and criticized the Democratic Party for derailing Trump's agenda. The PAC will also push for "thoughtful" crypto market structure legislation that avoids the pitfalls of overregulation, bloated licensing regimes, and red tape. "We will fight against legislation that attempts to recreate Dodd-Frank for crypto," he said. It will also push for a Bitcoin & Crypto Bill of Rights that codifies the right to own, self-custody, and transact peer-to-peer (P2P) with Bitcoin and other crypto assets, he added. In addition, protections for software developers, anti-central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), fair and open banking access, mandatory rulemaking and exemptions, rejection of regulatory capture, and support for the Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) "Project Crypto" are among the agendas on the PAC's table, Tyler underlined. Not Warren Buffett, this is the real king of 'Bitcoin is dead' club
It's not everyday that one comes across gems like this, but while scrolling the internet recently, a website called "Bitcoin Is Dead" appeared. No, the website isn't waging a crusade against Bitcoin. On the contrary, it keeps track of all the prominent public personalities, experts, and traditional media who once or often wrote the obituaries for the world's largest cryptocurrency, the market cap of which now rivals that of the world's largest companies like Alphabet (Nasdaq: GOOGL) and Amazon (Nasdaq: AMZN). From the Nobel Prize-winning economist Eric Maskin to The Washington Post's assistant op-ed editor Drew Goins, the website keeps track of nearly every public figure announcing the death of Bitcoin. The website also maintains a "Hall of Fame," which features the most famous public figures in ascending order of the number of times they have announced the death of Bitcoin. Funnily enough, veteran investor Warren Buffett, who once referred to Bitcoin as 'probably rat poison squared,' doesn't feature at the top of the list. Instead, the economist Peter Schiff, who is extremely skeptical of Bitcoin and bullish on gold, tops the "Hall of Fame." While Schiff has announced Bitcoin dead on 18 occasions, Buffett lags far behind with eight such declarations. Economists Steve Hanke, Nouriel Roubini, Paul Krugman, and Kevin Dowd also feature on the list. Finance journalists Brett Arends and John Crudele and famous researcher Nicholas Weaver also find mentions. Jamie Dimon, the billionaire CEO of the banking giant JPMorgan Chase (NYSE: JPM), is also part of the top 10 list. Bitcoin, which hit an all-time high (ATH) of $124,457.12 on Aug. 14, was trading at $112,316.54, down 1.35% a day. 'Useless Coin' surges only to tumble after Coinbase listing
A Solana-based meme coin, Useless Coin (USELESS) is one of the hottest meme coins. Recently, it recorded a price surge before tumbling as the Coinbase (Nasdaq: COIN) crypto exchange listed it. For the beginners, a meme coin is a type of cryptocurrency that's created as a joke or based on an internet meme. It often gains popularity through social media or celebrity endorsements, rather than traditional fundamentals like utility or innovation. USELESS, as its name suggests, doesn't pretend to be useful at all. Even as Binance called it an "unapologetically pointless memecoin," it seems there are a few takers for it. On Aug. 13, the U.S. arm of the world's largest crypto exchange, and Kraken, a prominent U.S.-based exchange, listed USELESS on their platforms. The same day, Coinbase, the largest crypto exchange in the U.S., announced that it was adding the meme coin to its listing roadmap. The listing-related announcements gave a boost to the meme coin as it surged more than 60% over the next four days to trade as high as $0.3702 on Aug. 17. However, the price surge was followed by a decline to $0.26 until Coinbase took another step forward on Aug. 19 and announced it was adding support for USELESS and will list it on Aug. 20 if liquidity conditions are met. Coinbase promptly listed USELESS on its crypto exchange. The listing again led to a price surge of 20% as the token rose from $0.248 on Aug. 19 to $0.2989 on Aug. 20. But another price decline awaited the meme coin as it fell 25%. USELESS was trading at 0.2252 at the time of writing.
