On Rahul Gandhi's b'day, Jagga Reddy extends `10 lakh assistance to a cancer patient
Hyderabad: To mark senior party leader and the Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi's birthday, TPCC working president T Jagga Reddy on Thursday extended Rs 10 lakh financial assistance to a cancer patient, Hari Krishna Prasad, of Thallapalli village in Sangareddy constituency. Prasad has been suffering from cancer for some time now. As he comes from a poor family, Reddy provided aid for his full treatment. As Prasad was earning just Rs 13,000 per month and could not afford a costly battle against cancer, the Congress leader came forward to support Prasad, who works as an employee in a Gurukula school. He has a wife, Shailaja, a daughter studying in LKG, and a son in first grade.
Prasad was diagnosed with cancer three months ago. His family has already spent lakhs on treatment. With no money left for further medical expenses, the family was left helpless. Reddy came to know about Prasad's situation through his followers. Moved by the plight, Reddy volunteered to bear the complete cost of the treatment. He handed over Rs 10 lakh assistance to the patient on Thursday.
Reddy reassured Prasad and his family of his support and encouraged them to stay strong. He also promised to facilitate help through the Chief Minister's Relief Fund to cover the treatment expenses incurred so far. Prasad's family expressed heartfelt gratitude for Reddy's support.

In 4th visit to poll-bound state this year, PM Modi to flag off first made-in-India locomotive to be exported from Bihar factory
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to arrive in Siwan on Friday in his fourth visit to poll-bound Bihar this year. There, he is scheduled to flag off the first made-in-India diesel locomotive to be exported from the Marhaura railway factory. The locomotive will be exported to the West African nation of Guinea. The Prime Minister will also inaugurate and lay foundation stones for several development projects, worth a total of Rs 9,145 crore, during his Siwan visit. Officials said, however, that the highlight would be the feat of the Marhaura factory, which they said is now spearheading a new era of industrial resurgence. The factory, officially known as Diesel Locomotive Factory, Marhaura, was established in September 2018. It is a joint venture between GE Transportation (now part of Wabtec) and Indian Railways. The recent deal with Guinea, titled 'Project KOMO', involves the export of 140 diesel engines valued at around Rs 3,000 crore. A Railways official said, 'This moment marks a historic milestone. For the first time, a manufacturing unit based in Bihar is exporting heavy locomotive engines to the global market, firmly placing India on the map as a global railway manufacturing hub. This achievement echoes the vision of Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat, translating policy into tangible, global impact. With the slogan 'Make in Bihar – Make for the World', Saran is transforming from a small town to a symbol of India's manufacturing capability.' Bombay HC stays interim order in domestic violence case, subject to ex-minister depositing 50% maintenance amount
The Bombay High Court on Thursday granted an interim stay on a trial court order that directed a Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and former minister to pay monthly interim maintenance to his estranged partner in a domestic violence case. However, the high court said that the stay is subject to his depositing the 50 per cent amount awarded in favour of the estranged partner in the court. The high court will hear the leader's plea after eight weeks. A single-judge bench of Justice Manjusha A Deshpande was hearing the NCP leader's plea, argued through advocates Shardul Singh and Sayali Sawant, that challenged an April 5 sessions court order that rejected his appeal against an interim order by a magistrate directing him to pay Rs 1.25 lakh to his estranged partner and Rs 75, 000 to their daughter. On February 4, a magistrate court in Bandra had partly allowed the woman's plea and ordered interim maintenance. The magistrate had observed that there was a prima facie proof of domestic violence against the former minister. However, the ex-minister approached the sessions court, challenging the magistrate's order. He claimed that he had never married the woman, and as the domestic relationship between them had ceased to exist, she could not file a plea under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act. The sessions court, while rejecting the leader's appeal, had noted that he and his estranged partner and their daughter 'are entitled for the same lifestyle which is being enjoyed by the appellant. Even if it is presumed that respondent (estranged partner) is earning, she is also entitled for maintenance to maintain their lifestyle as of the appellant (NCP leader)'. Aggrieved by the same, the NCP leader approached the high court, claiming that documents relied upon by the respondent woman were 'fabricated and forged', and he had filed a police complaint regarding the same, and therefore the trial court order based on the same was 'erroneous'. The petitioner further claimed that the woman had a substantial income, which is reflected in her earlier election affidavit, which the trial court failed to consider. He added that he was not contesting the maintenance amount granted in favour of the daughter.
