IDA survey bats for flyovers, upgrade for 5 intersections

Indore: A feasibility survey report prepared by the
Indore Development Authority
(IDA) reveals that flyovers are feasible at five intersections, while traffic flow at four others can be improved through specific modification works instead of flyover construction.
The situation at Ghantaghar intersection will be determined only after the metro route is finalised. The survey at Madhumilan intersection was not conducted due to ongoing improvement work by the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC).
The survey report on flyovers at various intersections in the city was reviewed on Saturday at the IDA office, under the chairmanship of divisional commissioner Deepak Singh. The survey proposes elevated rotaries at Zanjeerwala Square and flyovers at Tower Square, Chanakyapuri, Gopur Square, and Agresen Square.
The estimated cost for the construction of these five flyovers is Rs 338 crore.
Collector Asheesh Singh stated that the survey proposed the construction of flyovers at five intersections. These proposals will now be finalised after discussions with public representatives, and a decision will also be made regarding the source of funds for the construction, IDA CEO RP Ahirwar said.
During the meeting, suggestions were also made to construct an elevated corridor from LIG to Palasia. Officials stated that a survey for this should be conducted, as an elevated corridor is already being built from Industry House to Palasia.
They suggested extending this elevated corridor from LIG to Palasia.
Officials also directed some modifications to be made at Shivaji Vatika and Geeta Bhawan intersections.
