35 talukas receive rainfall in Gujarat; ‘Yellow Alert' in state till tomorrow
As the shear zone along with an upper air cyclonic circulation over central parts of west Madhya Pradesh along with a trough from Southeast Rajasthan to North Chhattisgarh across the cyclonic circulation lies over central parts of west Madhya Pradesh, heavy rainfall occurred in parts of Saurashtra, Bharuch and Surat in South Gujarat.

As per details received from Surat Municipal Corporation, till Tuesday, Rander Zone received 85 mm of rainfall, Katargam Zone received 67 mm, Varachha A 65 mm, Udhna 55 mm, Central Zone 54 mm, Limbayat 44 mm, Varachha B 39 mm, and Athwa received 36 mm. Besides Mangrol taluka received 42 mm of rainfall, followed by Olpad taluka at 31 mm, Kamrej 30 mm, Umarpada 15 mm, Palsana 10 mm, Bardoli 10 mm and Choryasi at 5 mm. While Valsad district remained dry, Navsari, Tapi and Dangs received moderate rain.
According to Fire Department sources in the Surat Municipal Corporation, four incidents of uprooting of trees were reported in Unn, Saiyedpura, Muglisara, and Dabholi.
On Tuesday, Hansot, Netrang, Bharuch in Bharuch district recorded 59, 44 and 43 mm of rainfall, respectively.
Though the maximum temperatures were recorded below normal, high humidity levels resulted in uncomfortable conditions On Tuesday.
The highest maximum temperature of 40.8 degree Celsius was recorded at Deesa followed by 40.6 at Kandla Airport, Bhuj 39.7, Surendranagar 37.3, Ahmedabad 36.4, Gandhinagar 36.2, Rajkot 36.3, Okha 35.6, Kandla Port 35.5, Bhavnagar 35.2, Vadodara 34.8, Porbandar 34.3, Keshod 32.4 and Surat 30 degree Celsius.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a 'Yellow Alert' for Gujarat till Thursday, warning against heavy rainfall along with thunderstorm, lightning and surface winds at 40-50 kmph.
On Wednesday, heavy rainfall is expected in the districts of Dahod, Mahisagar, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Navsari, Valsad and Tapi; in the districts of Saurashtra namely Amreli, Bhavnagar and Gir Somnath.
On Thursday, heavy rainfall is likely in South Gujarat districts, including Navsari, Valsad, Tapi; in Saurashtra districts, including Amreli and Bhavnagar.
Also, light to moderate thunderstorm with lightning and surface winds at 40-50 kmph, accompanied by light to moderate rain is expected across the state, both on Wednesday and Thursday.
The weather department has predicted a fall by 2-3 degrees in the maximum temperature till May 30 and no large change therafter.
