CAIRO - 17 February 2025: The Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) of the Cabinet published a set of videos highlighting Egypt's leadership in the field of technical education specialized in aircraft maintenance and manufacturing.
The videos were filmed within the first specialized school in the Middle East, which was established by the Arab Organization for Industrialization to qualify cadres capable of working at global rates.
Major General Maged Mohamed Mahmoud, Director of the Arab Institute for Advanced Technology, revealed that the establishment of the school comes within the framework of the political leadership's interest in developing technical education, as its students were carefully selected through tests and personal interviews attended by the Chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization himself, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education.
He explained that the teaching staff includes French experts in addition to Egyptian engineers, to ensure achieving the highest level of training and qualification.
For his part, Tamer Mohamed, Director of the Arab Organization for Industrialization School for Applied Technology in the field of aircraft manufacturing, confirmed that the school aims to graduate a generation proficient in aircraft maintenance and manufacturing according to international standards, which enables it to meet the needs of the local market, and contribute to enhancing Egypt's capabilities in this field.
He pointed out that the study requires a certain level of proficiency in the English language, as some specialized subjects are taught, such as aircraft manufacturing and maintenance, in addition to other cultural subjects, such as mathematics. Students also undergo rigorous admission tests, including an assessment of personality traits and emotional stability.
He explained that students join the school after obtaining their preparatory certificate, as the minimum admission score last year was 240. They also undergo several tests prepared by the Ministry of Education and the school itself, to ensure the selection of the best elements. He added that the school provides intensive practical training in various types of aircraft maintenance, which has made it very popular with parents since the first academic year.
In the same context, Mr. Safaa El-Din Farag, the school's senior English teacher, confirmed that the curricula are taught according to the latest educational methods, with a focus on practical training, away from traditional methods, to qualify students to work in local and international markets.
During the meetings, the students expressed their pride in joining the school, as they confirmed that their passion for aircraft was the main motivation behind their choice of this field. They pointed out that the school is one of only three schools in the world, along with two schools in France and India.
They also explained that they study a variety of subjects, including chemistry, English, national education, and Arabic, and that they aspire to complete their studies in colleges specialized in the field of aviation, to contribute to serving their country.
For his part, Brigadier Engineer Hatem Mohamed, Director General of Technical Education at the Arab Organization for Industrialization, thanked Major General Staff Engineer Mokhtar Abdel Latif Mustafa, Chairman of the Organization, for his directives on the necessity of expanding the establishment of applied technology schools. He stressed that work is underway to establish a new applied technology school at the organization's headquarters in Heliopolis, to expand the scope of qualification in the field of aircraft manufacturing and maintenance.
He pointed out that the raw materials needed by the French trainers are provided entirely from the local market, according to the required specifications, which contributes to reducing dependence on imports in hard currency, in implementation of the directives of the political leadership on the necessity of enhancing local manufacturing and supporting the national economy.

Egypt's Economic Momentum Reflected in Currency Stability, Says Cabinet Spokesman

Taarek Refaat Mohamed El-Homsany, spokesperson for Egypt's Cabinet, has affirmed that the recent appreciation of the Egyptian pound against the U.S. dollar and the stability in exchange rates are clear signs of real economic activity, not the result of short-term capital inflows or speculative investments. Speaking during a special interview on the 'Baheb El-Ida'a' radio program with broadcaster Shafki El-Mouniri on 'Nagham FM,' El-Homsany said the country's macroeconomic indicators are improving steadily. He pointed to a drop in inflation from 14% to 13% in July, a more than 22% increase in exports, and notable improvements in both tourism revenues and remittances from Egyptians abroad. During the weekly press conference led by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, several major files were discussed on both the domestic and international fronts. The political and diplomatic segment of the conference reviewed the outcomes of a recent summit between President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni. President Sisi reaffirmed Egypt's historical rights to Nile waters, while also emphasizing support for development projects in Nile Basin countries, provided they do not infringe on Egypt's national interests. The conference also covered Prime Minister Madbouly's meeting with Sudanese Prime Minister Dr. Kamal El-Tayeb Idris, which focused on expanding electrical grid interconnection projects and enhancing cooperation in trade, education, tourism, and antiquities. In addition, Madbouly's visit to Jordan and his meeting with King Abdullah II were addressed, during which the two leaders discussed bilateral cooperation in energy, transportation, and industrial integration, as well as the situation of Egyptian labor in Jordan and the signing of new bilateral agreements. On the domestic front, El-Homsany reassured the public regarding the controversial amendments to the old rent law. He explained that the Cabinet has approved a draft resolution to regulate landlord-tenant relationships, particularly in non-residential leases. The reforms include the establishment of committees to survey such properties and determine minimum rent levels. An online platform and post office network have been launched to receive applications from affected tenants seeking alternative housing, with units to be allocated based on clear eligibility criteria within three months. The press conference also touched on major urban development projects, including the renovation of Downtown Cairo, the Fustat Gardens, set for completion by September 30, and the Azbakeya Wall and Park restoration. Addressing concerns circulating on social media, El-Homsany stressed that historical assets are not being sold, but rather will be leveraged through partnerships with the private sector to maximize public benefit. Finally, the Cabinet discussed progress on a comprehensive plan to overhaul Egypt's media landscape, with the strategy soon to be presented to President Sisi. The initiative follows the President's recent meeting with the heads of Egypt's key media regulatory bodies. read more CBE: Deposits in Local Currency Hit EGP 5.25 Trillion Morocco Plans to Spend $1 Billion to Mitigate Drought Effect Gov't Approves Final Version of State Ownership Policy Document Egypt's Economy Expected to Grow 5% by the end of 2022/23- Minister Qatar Agrees to Supply Germany with LNG for 15 Years Business Oil Prices Descend amid Anticipation of Additional US Strategic Petroleum Reserves Business Suez Canal Records $704 Million, Historically Highest Monthly Revenue Business Egypt's Stock Exchange Earns EGP 4.9 Billion on Tuesday Business Wheat delivery season commences on April 15 Videos & Features Story behind Trending Jessica Radcliffe Death Video News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt News The Jessica Radcliffe Orca Attack? 100% Fake and AI-Generated

Central Bank of Egypt Eases Rules on Credit Card Use Abroad

Taarek Refaat The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) has officially relaxed a key restriction on the use of credit cards abroad, signaling a shift in the country's foreign exchange management policies following recent economic reforms. In a decision announced this week, the CBE canceled a clause from a previous directive issued in October 2023. The now-removed clause had required banks to track the international use of credit cards by verifying exit and entry stamps on customers' passports within 90 days of activating their cards for international use. Under the previous rule, customers had to submit travel documentation to confirm they were physically abroad when using their cards, as a measure to control foreign currency outflows. Failure to do so could result in card restrictions or penalties. With the new directive in place, customers are no longer obligated to provide banks with such documentation. Egyptian banks will continue to allow credit card usage abroad, applying foreign exchange fees as usual, but without demanding proof of travel. Policy Shift Reflects Improved Currency Conditions This regulatory easing follows the unification of Egypt's exchange rate in March 2025, a move that aligned the official and parallel market rates and helped stabilize the country's foreign currency environment. As a result, the stringent controls previously considered necessary to prevent misuse of foreign exchange channels have become less relevant. Economic analysts view the move as part of a broader strategy to normalize banking operations and restore confidence in the financial sector, especially after years of tight currency controls and capital management regulations. read more CBE: Deposits in Local Currency Hit EGP 5.25 Trillion Morocco Plans to Spend $1 Billion to Mitigate Drought Effect Gov't Approves Final Version of State Ownership Policy Document Egypt's Economy Expected to Grow 5% by the end of 2022/23- Minister Qatar Agrees to Supply Germany with LNG for 15 Years Business Oil Prices Descend amid Anticipation of Additional US Strategic Petroleum Reserves Business Suez Canal Records $704 Million, Historically Highest Monthly Revenue Business Egypt's Stock Exchange Earns EGP 4.9 Billion on Tuesday Business Wheat delivery season commences on April 15 Videos & Features Story behind Trending Jessica Radcliffe Death Video News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt News The Jessica Radcliffe Orca Attack? 100% Fake and AI-Generated

Egypt's 9th Think Commercial real estate roundtable set for Sept. 8

The ninth edition of the Think Commercial real estate roundtable will be held on Sept. 8 to discuss the latest developments in the Egyptian property market, its organisers said. The event, organised by conference company Media Avenue, will take place at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Cairo under the theme 'The Real Estate Industry Leads Investment and Export.' Discussions will focus on opportunities for real estate expansion in regional and global markets, modern real estate investment tools such as property funds and participatory financing, and the utilisation of old government headquarters and the development of the downtown Cairo area. The roundtable will also address advanced financing mechanisms as a key element for overcoming economic challenges, including government facilities, lower interest rates, and the activation of tools like real estate financing and institutional investment. The event will feature two sessions: the first will discuss opportunities for real-estate expansion, while the second will review modern real estate investment tools. Participants will include government officials from the Ministry of Housing and the Financial Regulatory Authority, members of parliament, and representatives from business organisations. Leaders from major real estate development and finance companies, as well as firms specialising in participatory financing, asset management, and the establishment of real estate funds, are also expected to attend.
