IDSC monitors Egypt's tech effrorts in aircraft manufacturing, maintenance

CAIRO - 17 February 2025: The Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) of the Cabinet published a set of videos highlighting Egypt's leadership in the field of technical education specialized in aircraft maintenance and manufacturing.
The videos were filmed within the first specialized school in the Middle East, which was established by the Arab Organization for Industrialization to qualify cadres capable of working at global rates.
Major General Maged Mohamed Mahmoud, Director of the Arab Institute for Advanced Technology, revealed that the establishment of the school comes within the framework of the political leadership's interest in developing technical education, as its students were carefully selected through tests and personal interviews attended by the Chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization himself, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education.
He explained that the teaching staff includes French experts in addition to Egyptian engineers, to ensure achieving the highest level of training and qualification.
For his part, Tamer Mohamed, Director of the Arab Organization for Industrialization School for Applied Technology in the field of aircraft manufacturing, confirmed that the school aims to graduate a generation proficient in aircraft maintenance and manufacturing according to international standards, which enables it to meet the needs of the local market, and contribute to enhancing Egypt's capabilities in this field.
He pointed out that the study requires a certain level of proficiency in the English language, as some specialized subjects are taught, such as aircraft manufacturing and maintenance, in addition to other cultural subjects, such as mathematics. Students also undergo rigorous admission tests, including an assessment of personality traits and emotional stability.
He explained that students join the school after obtaining their preparatory certificate, as the minimum admission score last year was 240. They also undergo several tests prepared by the Ministry of Education and the school itself, to ensure the selection of the best elements. He added that the school provides intensive practical training in various types of aircraft maintenance, which has made it very popular with parents since the first academic year.
In the same context, Mr. Safaa El-Din Farag, the school's senior English teacher, confirmed that the curricula are taught according to the latest educational methods, with a focus on practical training, away from traditional methods, to qualify students to work in local and international markets.
During the meetings, the students expressed their pride in joining the school, as they confirmed that their passion for aircraft was the main motivation behind their choice of this field. They pointed out that the school is one of only three schools in the world, along with two schools in France and India.
They also explained that they study a variety of subjects, including chemistry, English, national education, and Arabic, and that they aspire to complete their studies in colleges specialized in the field of aviation, to contribute to serving their country.
For his part, Brigadier Engineer Hatem Mohamed, Director General of Technical Education at the Arab Organization for Industrialization, thanked Major General Staff Engineer Mokhtar Abdel Latif Mustafa, Chairman of the Organization, for his directives on the necessity of expanding the establishment of applied technology schools. He stressed that work is underway to establish a new applied technology school at the organization's headquarters in Heliopolis, to expand the scope of qualification in the field of aircraft manufacturing and maintenance.
He pointed out that the raw materials needed by the French trainers are provided entirely from the local market, according to the required specifications, which contributes to reducing dependence on imports in hard currency, in implementation of the directives of the political leadership on the necessity of enhancing local manufacturing and supporting the national economy.
