Police foil attempt to smuggle 4m Captagon pills into Kuwait
KUWAIT: The Ministry of Interior said Wednesday that agents of the criminal investigations sector were able to foil an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of psychostimulant substance worth KD 12 million (nearly USD 39.35 million) into Kuwait.
The seizure, amounting to four million Captagon (fenethylline) pills, was hidden in an unconventional way inside water treatment pipes, according to a statement from the Ministry's General Directorate of Security Relations and Media.
The security clampdown took place under supervision of First Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al-Sabah and in cooperation with the General Administration of Customs and Kuwait Fire Force.
Acting on tips, the security services arranged with the customs authorities to facilitate the entry of the consignment into Kuwait, kept watching the route it took, and then arrested one of culprits red-handed.
The main culprit is abroad and the Kuwaiti authorities are in contact with the authorities of the country he is residing in as a prelude to a legal action against him, the statement noted.
The consignment took a tricky route before arriving in Kuwait; it was smuggled to an Arab country and to a European one before its final destination, the statement said. The Ministry of interior appreciated the cooperation with the anti-drug agencies of the concerned countries that led to the successful clampdown. — KUNA

Doctors in Kuwait beaten for not signing ‘medical leave'
KUWAIT CITY, July 26: The Public Prosecution has started investigating the assault on two doctors working at Sabah Al-Salem North Center by an unknown individual after they left their workplace late at night. Case files indicate that the assailant followed the two doctors in the parking lot of the clinic and attacked them with a sharp object (a wheel wrench), resulting in multiple injuries and a broken hand for one of them. The assault happened when the doctors refused to grant him medical leave after the end of official working hours. Attorney Elaf Al-Saleh, acting on behalf of the Kuwait Medical Association and representing the victims, filed an official complaint against the perpetrator who fled the scene after committing the assault. The complaint was transferred from Sabah Al-Salem Police Station to the prosecution, which heard the testimonies of one of the victims and Al-Saleh. The investigation will be completed once the other doctor gives his testimony upon completion of his treatment at Al-Razi Orthopedic Hospital. The deputy public prosecutor instructed the relevant security authorities to quickly apprehend the culprit. Commenting on the incident, Al-Saleh denounced what she described as a 'blatant and cowardly assault,' stressing that the crime is punishable under Kuwaiti law. She asserted, 'This assault not only affects the two doctors, but it is also a blatant violation of the honor of the health sector, its professional and job security. It contradicts the human and ethical values upon which any civilized society is based. An assault on a doctor is, in essence, an assault on an entire humanitarian profession.' 15 more individuals lose their Kuwait citizenship
KUWAIT CITY, July 26: The Supreme Committee for the Investigation of Kuwaiti Citizenship, during its recent meeting chaired by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, decided to revoke the citizenship of several individuals, pending approval by the Council of Ministers, reports Al-Seyassah daily. In a press statement, the Ministry of Interior clarified that the decision includes revocations based on dual nationality, fraudulent acquisition through false statements or forgery, and cases deemed necessary for the protection of the country's higher interests. In a related development, the official gazette 'Kuwait Al-Youm' recently published two decisions for revoking the citizenship of 15 individuals. The first decision, issued under Article 10 of the Nationality Law, revoked the citizenship of one woman.
