Dhadak 2 Review: Siddhant Chaturvedi, Triptii Dimri Shine In Hard-Hitting Caste Drama

Last Updated: Dhadak 2 Review: Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri's caste drama is directed by Shazia Iqbal. Ever walked into a theatre with low expectations and walked out completely blown away? That's exactly what happened as I sat and watched the 2 hours and 26 minutes long Dhadak 2 starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri. The movie, to my surprise, can easily be one of the best released so far. The Plot: In the 21st century, do we still need reservations in colleges and other places? When you go deeper into the system, you realise that the years might have changed, but the mindset? Not much. Dhadak 2 is a story set in a similar background. A boy named Nilesh, who is said to be from an alleged 'backwards" caste, tries hard to get into a college to pursue law. However, when he finally takes admission, he encounters a new battle, that of caste. He falls in love with Nidhi Upadhyay, but the two must fight every odd to stay together. The film presents their struggle as they protest against the system. 'When injustice becomes law, resistance becomes duty," is the mantra of this Siddhant and Triptii starrer. Performances: Siddhant Chaturvedi steals the show in this film. He doesn't just play Nilesh, he becomes him. His sincerity on screen is so raw that every slap, every insult he endures hits the audience just as hard. He makes us believe in the honesty of his character, and by the end, you're rooting for him with your whole heart. A true green-flag boy, as Vidhi would say. The green flag boy—away from the 'men's problem," as Vidhi likes to call it. Meanwhile, Triptii Dimri does an equally compelling job. The innocence and the charm she had was somewhere getting lost in the glamour and glitz of some of her previous projects. But with Dhadak 2, she does justice to her role as Vidhi Upadhyay. Triptii comes across as a girl you can find in your household or maybe in your neighbourhood. She is that believable, and it's a total win. While all the supporting cast make the film what it is, it's Saurav Sachdev who you will fear after watching the film. Music: While the world is still recovering from Saiyaara fever and Dhadak 2 has the potential to give tough competition to that film, the music somehow lacks the recall value. The songs do come at the right moments every time, but they won't stay with you for much longer. This is where the film lacks. Music in a Dharma movie, not great? Yes, I'm also surprised, but well, it is what it is. Final Verdict: It's worth noting that Dhadak 2 isn't an original story. It's a remake of the much-loved Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal. But even as a remake, it feels fresh and meaningful, especially in a world full of sloppy adaptations. This one stands tall. Dhadak 2 also serves as a spiritual successor to the 2016 film Dhadak, which marked Janhvi Kapoor's debut alongside Ishaan Khatter. While the original centered on a love story strained by class differences and ended in tragedy, Dhadak 2 shifts focus to caste conflict, delivering a more grounded, stirring, and ultimately satisfying experience. Comparing performances would be unfair—Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri bring seasoned depth, whereas Janhvi was just finding her footing. It's less a comparison, more an evolution, and Dhadak 2 wears its name with pride, delivering emotion with edge. Dhadak 2 is the kind of film that screams good storytelling, and hence, it's a clear reminder to everyone that good movies can still be made, if the heartbeat (Dhadak) is in the right direction. If you've been craving an honest romantic thriller that's believable, then trust me and don't miss this one. Book your tickets now. Exclusive: Mohit Suri reacts to Sidharth Anand's demand for a Saiyaara sequel

Siddharth Anand recently put out a tweet saying he loved 'Saiyaara', and he would want to see a follow-up . In a recent conversation with India Today, Mohit Suri spoke about the chances of a follow-up tracking the lead characters Krish Kapoor (Ahaan Panday) and Vaani (Aneet Padda). When asked to react to Siddharth Anand's tweet on the possibility of 'Saiyaara 2', Mohit said, 'That's the producer in him (laughs)!advertisement"I mean, for me, this was a culmination of a film by itself. We never know. I don't plan these film was never approached in that way . If you really had to approach it as a business module, I don't think, I think we failed on the first day, right? This was not a project. Because we didn't cast established people. We had a budget, which was like stretching ourselves a lot. We came at a time where people didn't believe this kind of genre existed. So if you ever really followed the trade magazines or the trade pundits or the business trends, which talks about sequels and franchises, this wasn't even a film that was ever mentioned. This didn't even come with the label that said from makers of this, we didn't even rely on those kind of trappings. We didn't do that. I think this was the most organic way to make a film. So I don't think we were even thinking about things like franchises and sequels.'Anand's tweet that Mohit was referring to read, "A little late to the party. Had heard so much about the film already. Apart from it being the blockbuster ofcourse. Went in to the film with all these expectations. And yet! Just LOVED IT!!!, (sic)."Take a look at the tweet: (Credit: X/justSidAnand) Featuring starry performances by Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, and backed by a moving soundtrack, the emotional drama has emerged as the year's second-biggest box office hit. In just 12 days, it earned over Rs 265 crore in India and crossed Rs 400 crore worldwide. It is produced by YRF and was released on July 18.- EndsTrending Reel
