Dhadak 2 Review: Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri's caste drama is directed by Shazia Iqbal.
Ever walked into a theatre with low expectations and walked out completely blown away? That's exactly what happened as I sat and watched the 2 hours and 26 minutes long Dhadak 2 starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri. The movie, to my surprise, can easily be one of the best released so far.
The Plot:
In the 21st century, do we still need reservations in colleges and other places? When you go deeper into the system, you realise that the years might have changed, but the mindset? Not much. Dhadak 2 is a story set in a similar background.
A boy named Nilesh, who is said to be from an alleged 'backwards" caste, tries hard to get into a college to pursue law. However, when he finally takes admission, he encounters a new battle, that of caste. He falls in love with Nidhi Upadhyay, but the two must fight every odd to stay together. The film presents their struggle as they protest against the system.
'When injustice becomes law, resistance becomes duty," is the mantra of this Siddhant and Triptii starrer.
Performances:
Siddhant Chaturvedi steals the show in this film. He doesn't just play Nilesh, he becomes him. His sincerity on screen is so raw that every slap, every insult he endures hits the audience just as hard. He makes us believe in the honesty of his character, and by the end, you're rooting for him with your whole heart. A true green-flag boy, as Vidhi would say. The green flag boy—away from the 'men's problem," as Vidhi likes to call it.
Meanwhile, Triptii Dimri does an equally compelling job. The innocence and the charm she had was somewhere getting lost in the glamour and glitz of some of her previous projects. But with Dhadak 2, she does justice to her role as Vidhi Upadhyay. Triptii comes across as a girl you can find in your household or maybe in your neighbourhood. She is that believable, and it's a total win.
While all the supporting cast make the film what it is, it's Saurav Sachdev who you will fear after watching the film.
Music:
While the world is still recovering from Saiyaara fever and Dhadak 2 has the potential to give tough competition to that film, the music somehow lacks the recall value. The songs do come at the right moments every time, but they won't stay with you for much longer. This is where the film lacks. Music in a Dharma movie, not great? Yes, I'm also surprised, but well, it is what it is.
Final Verdict:
It's worth noting that Dhadak 2 isn't an original story. It's a remake of the much-loved Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal. But even as a remake, it feels fresh and meaningful, especially in a world full of sloppy adaptations. This one stands tall.
Dhadak 2 also serves as a spiritual successor to the 2016 film Dhadak, which marked Janhvi Kapoor's debut alongside Ishaan Khatter. While the original centered on a love story strained by class differences and ended in tragedy, Dhadak 2 shifts focus to caste conflict, delivering a more grounded, stirring, and ultimately satisfying experience. Comparing performances would be unfair—Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri bring seasoned depth, whereas Janhvi was just finding her footing. It's less a comparison, more an evolution, and Dhadak 2 wears its name with pride, delivering emotion with edge.
Dhadak 2 is the kind of film that screams good storytelling, and hence, it's a clear reminder to everyone that good movies can still be made, if the heartbeat (Dhadak) is in the right direction.
If you've been craving an honest romantic thriller that's believable, then trust me and don't miss this one. Book your tickets now.

Mahavatar Narsimha impacted Saiyaara's box office performance? Producer says 'Intention was not to take away...'

July welcomed two of the biggest releases, Saiyaara and Mahavatar Narsimha, in theaters. Saiyaara, starring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, became a major success at the box office with its phenomenal run. Meanwhile, Ashwin Kumar's directorial emerged as the highest-grossing animated movie in India. Reportedly, the latter impacted the screen count of the Bollywood release. The makers have opened up about it, saying they had no intention to take away success. Mahavatar Narsimha's producer talks about the success of the blockbuster movie According to Bollywood Hungama, the makers recently attended the success press meet of Mahavatar Narsimha at a temple in Mumbai. During an interaction, producer Chaluve Gowda got candid about the success of the surprise blockbuster and what worked for the mythological animated movie. Gowda shared that while the story wasn't new, it gained wide appreciation for its animation. Talking about the specifics, the producer noted that it was no less than a live-action movie, especially in the last 20-25 minutes, which made the film different from other movies based on the same topic. Mahavatar Narsimha didn't have 'intention to take away the success' of other movies In the event, producer Chaluve Gowda also addressed if Mahavatar Narsimha thwarted the blockbuster run of Mohit Suri's film, Saiyaara. Talking about Ashwin Kumar's directorial, Gowda added that it was not just for kids and that the makers had "confidence" in the movie. "The intention was not to take away the success of other films. But the content was so good that it managed to run successfully," he said. Without mentioning other releases, the Mahavatar Narsimha producer also stressed that those movies showed a "slowing trend" in the box office market. Saiyaara vs Mahavatar Narsimha's performances Produced by T-Series, Saiyaara was well-received by the audience. The Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda starrer had an excellent opening at the box office. It crossed the Rs 300 crore mark within three weeks of its release. On the other hand, Mahavatar Narsimha, which was released a week after Saiyaara, was a late bloomer. While the initial figures of the Hombale Films' production were not as strong, it later gained immense traction through positive word-of-mouth. After its good momentum, Mahavatar Narsimha began to directly compete with Saiyaara in the third week on a day-to-day basis for screen space and audience attention.

Meet Mr Alex: The ‘gentleman' calf living on a 28th-floor apartment, enjoying balcony views and cuddles

Pets don't always fit the usual mould. Sometimes, rescue stories lead to unusual yet endearing companions, breaking the regular pet-keeping norms. On that note, let's take a closer look at the story of Mr Alex, a well-mannered calf who lives in an apartment. Mr Alex is a well-behaved rescue calf who loves pretty balcony views.(PC: IG/@saianimalactivist) Animal activist Sai Vignesh, who frequently shares heartfelt animal rescue stories on Instagram, posted on August 8 about a calf living with his rescuer, Thejaswini S Rangan, in a 28th-floor apartment. Mr Alex is the calf who loves balcony sunsets and panoramic views, unconventional, yet absolutely adorable. Thejaswini shared the story of Alex, a three-month-old bull calf rescued from the streets of Neelankarai. The calf met with an accident then. She recalled how fragile he was, but with care, he turned into a beautiful, healthy calf. Thejaswini said, 'When he was about barely a month and a half old, he was crossing the road and he was hit by a speeding vehicle. So when we found him. His limbs were badly bleeding, his back was swollen, so we brought him home immediately, and we thought we should give him first aid and we gave him good rest. We gave him enough security and he has blossomed into a fantastic calf.' Mr Alex has many special quirks that set him apart from other calves, as she added, 'I have seen many bull calves before. They are all very naughty and very sassy. But this boy is such a gentleman. He doesn't headbutt, he doesn't kick and he loves cuddles. He loves getting cuddles both us and the dogs as well.' Adding to the list of the calf's adorable traits, Thejaswini further shared that he loves spending time on the balcony, enjoying the sunrise and sunset views over the Bay of Bengal and the Buckingham Canal. Thejaswini also mentioned that the calf shares a special bond with the dogs. The calf loves cuddles from everyone, even the dogs. Even more surprising is that the dogs eat with the calf. She said, 'The dogs eat along with the calf, even the grass. They all eat together. So it is a community table where they are all eating everything that he is also eating.' Now, finally, how did this charming calf come to be known as Mr. Alex? His name's inspiration comes from Alex Pandian, a character from a Tamil movie known for his unmistakable swag, which the calf embodied right from the beginning. Thejaswini added, 'Because of his swag, he got the name Mr. Alex. When he was injured and walking towards us with his head tilted, it looked exactly like how Alex Pandian moves.' Internet reactions The comment section was in awe of the gentlemanly calf who loves watching the sky from the balcony. One user appreciated the rescue effort, writing, 'mr. Alex is such a handsome fellow, truly adorable, and hats off to you. Great work. God bless.' Another highlighted that pets aren't limited to the usual cats and dogs, adding, 'This proves that pets means not only the dog and everyone sees the animals as babies.' Another commented, 'I hope his biological mom knows how happy and well he is now.' However, one user raised a practical concern, asking, 'What is she going to do when he grows too big for the flat and the elevator?' In response, Thejaswini explained that she has a farm where Alex will be moving soon. She shared that he stayed with her only until his wounds healed completely. Now, since he is healthy, Alex has gained six kilograms in the past month and a half. ALSO READ: No walks for pets this monsoon? Vet shares 6 indoor games to keep them active
