CINCINNATI, Ohio - Borussia Dortmund held off a spirited comeback from South African champions Mamelodi Sundowns to secure a 4-3 victory on Saturday and move closer to the Club World Cup knockout stages.
Dortmund were behind after 11 minutes at the TQL Stadium but rallied to win their second game in Group F and move top of the standings with four points, one more than Sundowns.
Felix Nmecha, Serhou Guirassy and Jobe Bellingham scored for the Bundesliga club who also profited from an own goal.
Lucas Ribeiro had given Sundowns the lead while Iqraam Rayners and Lebo Mothiba scored in the second half as they looked to rally from 4-1 down in a competitive game played in blazing hot conditions with a midday kickoff. REUTERS

Chelsea clinched the Club World Cup in July with an emphatic 3-0 win over European champions Paris St Germain in the final, and wrapped up their pre-season on Sunday with a commanding 4-1 victory over AC Milan at Stamford Bridge. Their new forward signings, Joao Pedro and Liam Delap, were both on the scoresheet against Milan, who were reduced to 10 men after defender Andrei Coubis was sent off in the 18th minute. "I think the performance was very good until the red card. We started the way we wanted - intense and with a high tempo on and off the ball," Maresca said on Saturday. "The red card changed a little bit the game but it's also normal as Milan started pre-season 40 days ago and this was their sixth friendly." Chelsea had earlier defeated Bundesliga runners-up Bayer Leverkusen 2-0 in their opening pre-season friendly on Friday. "It's our second one (pre-season game). But overall I'm very happy, and now we start the Premier League," the Italian added. Top stories Swipe. Select. Stay informed. The 23-year-old was full of praise for his teammate Delap, who netted a brace against Milan. Martinez, who joined Barca in 2023, has earned 21 caps. Power display from England as they get ready for Women's Rugby World Cup

MONT-DE-MARSAN, France - England concluded preparations for their hosting of the Women's Rugby World Cup with a convincing away victory over France, winning 40-6 on Saturday in their last warm-up international before the tournament kicks off later in the month. England -- who have contested the last six World Cup finals, a run that includes their 2014 triumph -- produced a dominant performance and will be heading to the tournament brimming with confidence as they scored six tries without reply against their hosts. Morwenna Talling, Amy Cokayne and Maud Muir all went over in the first half as England put on an impressive display of forward power and Megan Jones and Lark Atkin-Davies (two) added second-half scores as a near-full strength English side proved far too strong for the French at Stade Andre-et-Guy-Boniface. Zoe Harrison kicked over five conversions while France's two penalties were slotted over by Morgane Bourgeois. The result made it 57 wins from their past 58 internationals, and a 16th win in a row over the French, for the English who kick off the World Cup with a Pool A clash against the United States in Sunderland on August 22. France, who have been third at seven of the nine previous World Cups but never reached a final, are in Pool D and meet Italy in their opening game at Exeter on August 23. REUTERS
