David Beckham's anger at lack of ‘respect' after MLS rival's jibe
David Beckham has told Minnesota United to 'show a little respect' after they celebrated thrashing his star-studded Inter Miami team by calling them the 'Pink Phony Club'.
Saturday's Major League Soccer game between the sides inflicted on Lionel Messi his worst defeat since moving to the United States as Miami lost 4-1 at a packed Allianz Field.

Minnesota, managed by former Manchester United coach Eric Ramsay, basked in the afterglow of that win on Instagram by taking aim at their opponents, whom Beckham co-founded in 2018 and who famously wear pink.
One post featured an image of their own players celebrating a goal and featured a part of the MLS standings showing Minnesota in fifth, a point ahead of Beckham's side. The post was captioned 'Pink Phony Club' in a play on words on the Chappell Roan song Pink Pony Club.
Beckham, the former Manchester United and England midfielder, responded to the post by writing: 'Show a little respect @mnufc be elegant in triumph.'
In another jibe seemingly linked to the city of Minnesota's longer association with professional football down the years, a post featured a photograph of a giant banner and read: 'History over hype. Culture over cash.' The post was captioned: '49 years and counting'.

Beckham responded, saying 'respect over everything' in a comment featuring a pink heart emoji.
Miami were formed only in 2020 and won the Leagues Cup in 2023 during Messi's first season in Florida.
They topped the regular season standings last term to win the Supporters' Shield, only to bow out in the first round of the MLS play-offs to Atlanta United.
Miami are fourth in the Eastern Conference and sixth in the overall table after losing to Minnesota, who are enjoying a fruitful second season under Ramsay.
The 33-year-old left United for his current role in February last year and has recently been linked with the Southampton job.

Welsh coach Ramsay said after beating Miami: 'I think, for the club as a whole, that was really important. But certainly, for us as a team, to show that we can compete with the very best was really important for us.
'We're obviously in a good place at the moment but we've got to keep that going, we've got to keep working.'

Rodrygo drops Real Madrid future hint with social media post
Real Madrid star Rodrygo has on Tuesday moved to reiterate his 'happiness' at the club, in the process playing down his ongoing exit links. Frontman Rodrygo has of course taken his place centre stage in the headlines across Europe for several weeks now. Advertisement This comes after a series of reports were forthcoming in the media, suggesting that the 24-year-old was seeking a new challenge this summer. A whole host of clubs, in turn, have been tipped as potential landing spots for Rodrygo, chief among them Premier League giants Arsenal and Chelsea. As alluded to above, though, if the latest social media activity on the part of the player himself is anything to go by, he appears to remain more than content with life in Spain's capital. After reconvening with his Real Madrid teammates under the watch of new manager Xabi Alonso at Valdebebas this week, Rodrygo took to his official Instagram account, to unveil a photo of himself accompanied by the simple caption: Advertisement 'HAPPY' Conor Laird – GSFN

Military Veteran Benjamin Hightower Scores Standing Ovation From ‘AGT' Judges With Chappell Roan Cover
Benjamin Hightower has channeled Chappell Roan for his America's Got Talent audition, going from Tennessee to Los Angeles to receive a standing ovation from judges for his performance of 'Pink Pony Club.' Appearing on Tuesday (June 10) night's episode of America's Got Talent, Hightower told judges how he ended seven years of active duty in the Air Force to pursue his dreams of stardom. 'I made the really scary choice to get out of the military and take a chance on myself because I believe in my ability to be a performer,' he explained. More from Billboard Cloonee Postpones L.A. Shows Amid ICE Raids: 'I Will Not Throw a Party Whilst the Latino People Who Have Supported Me in This City Are Hurting' Leon Thomas' 'Mutt' Snatches Third Radio Crown of 2025 The Alchemist Could've Been on Lil Wayne's 'Tha Carter VI': 'I Was Just Overthinking It' Dressed in a white shirt and ripped jeans, the unassuming musician sat behind a keyboard as he launched into a triumphant rendition of Roan's 'Pink Pony Club.' Originally released in 2020, the single gained renewed attention following Roan's 2025 Grammy Awards performance, and hit No. 4 on the Hot 100, tying with 'Good Luck, Babe!' as her highest-charting single to date. Receiving a rapturous reception from the audience (which included his own mother), Hightower explained that it was a more than fitting track given his roots in Tennessee. Though Roan grew up in Missouri, the lyrics to 'Pink Pony Club' describe the singer's desire to leave Tennessee in hopes of acceptance on the west coast. 'That song is great, but I think that also could be a hit; your rendition of her song,' enthused judge Howie Mandel. 'It was beautiful, it was great.' 'The perfect audition, this is what you're supposed to be doing,' added Sofia Vergara. 'I think America's going to love you.' The biggest response, however, came from Simon Cowell, who expressed his certainty that Hightower's performance could become a viral hit. 'I really like you. I really do,' he told the singer. 'When I saw the keyboard I thought, 'Oh God, it's going to be something like 'Stand By Me,' or something we've heard a billion times.' And it wasn't,' he added. 'When you do somebody else's song and you make it your version, that's smart. I love that song, I love your version, and I don't know, there's something about you I really like.' Hightower's overwhelmingly positive reception was echoed in his own response to the acclaim, with the visibly emotional performer telling host Terry Crews that the moment has been a long time coming. 'If the little kid who grew up in Tennessee could see me now, he would be so proud,' he explained.
