Latest Malik Nabers Update is Promising for NY Giants
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources.
It's too early to take risks for the New York Giants. While they want to see their star wide receiver in action as soon as possible, Malik Nabers' offseason setback has kept him out of the mix throughout the team's set of spring sessions.
Last week, Giants receivers got to work with the first-year New Yorker, Russell Wilson. As several players managed to settle in and get comfortable with the veteran, a toe injury prevented Nabers from building with his new quarterback.
The trend continued this week, leading to more questions for Giants head coach, Brian Daboll. Is everything good on the Nabers front right now? According to the head coach, there isn't anything to worry about.
"He'll be doing similar things that he's done the last couple times he's been out," Daboll told reporters this week as the Giants continued their offseason workouts. "He did a little bit of walkthrough here, but he's progressing. He'll be OK."
Last season, Nabers entered the Giants' organization as their sixth-overall pick out of LSU. He was coming off a 13-game run at LSU, where he produced 1,569 yards and 14 touchdowns off 89 catches.

While Jones led all Giants quarterbacks in production last season, it was clear the organization was losing faith. After 10 games, Jones was sidelined, which led to an eventual release for the former first-rounder.
Nabers was left catching passes from several quarterbacks throughout his rookie season. It wasn't a great situation for a young wideout, learning the ins and outs of the NFL, but he adjusted just right. In 15 games, Nabers was targeted 170 times. He caught 109 passes for 1,204 yards. As a rookie, he produced seven touchdowns on the year.
Based on what he put on display in year one, Nabers is primed for a major second season in the NFL. The Giants invested in a win-now move at quarterback by acquiring Russell Wilson via free agency. Wilson has struggled to mirror his Seattle Seahawks days since leaving for the Denver Broncos, but another fresh start with a young star like Nabers could be just what the veteran QB needs.
Last year, Wilson threw for 2,482 yards and 16 touchdowns in 11 games for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Soon, the Giants could see the Wilson-Nabers combo in action. For the time being, Daboll's team is understandably taking it slow with the 21-year-old's recovery.

Instant Recap: LSU baseball gets massive win vs. Arkansas in College World Series
The two highest remaining seeds in the NCAA Tournament met in the College World Series on Saturday night when LSU baseball met Arkansas. LSU ace Kade Anderson shut down the Razorbacks and led the Tigers to a 4-1 victory. As the lower seed, LSU was the visiting team. Both teams worked through a scoreless first inning before LSU got on the board in the top of the second inning. The Tigers plated three runs in the top of the second as Chris Stanfield hit an RBI single, a pitch with the bases loaded hit Michael Braswell III, and Josh Pearson reached on a fielder's choice to make it 3-0. After that, Kade Anderson and the LSU defense would go to work. The Tigers rolled a couple of nice double plays to get LSU out of a few innings. The score remained 3-0 until the bottom of the sixth inning, when a solo shot from Arkansas would cut the lead to 3-1. In the top of the eighth inning, LSU got an insurance run as Derek Curiel hit an RBI single to increase the lead to 4-1 Tigers as we headed to the bottom of the eighth inning. In the bottom of the eighth inning, the Razorbacks started the inning with a single, and Anderson was pulled from the game. His day was finished after seven full innings of work. He gave up one run on three hits, seven strikeouts, and two walks. Chase Shores would enter to pitch for him. Shores then retired all three hitters he faced, and we headed to the ninth inning with LSU leading 4-1. Advertisement Casan Evans entered to pitch in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Tigers looked to close it out. Evans got out of the inning unscathed, and the Tigers won 4-1. LSU advances in the winner's bracket to play UCLA on Monday night at 6 p.m. CT. This article originally appeared on LSU Wire: Quick Recap: LSU baseball beats Arkansas for key game one win in Omaha

Kade Anderson's dominant outing carries LSU in 4-1 win over Arkansas at the College World Series
Associated Press OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Kade Anderson limited Arkansas' high-powered offense to three hits and a run in seven-plus innings, LSU knocked Razorbacks ace Zach Root out of the game early, and the Tigers beat the rival Razorbacks 4-1 in the College World Series on Saturday night. Anderson, a projected top-five overall pick in the MLB amateur draft next month, kept Arkansas batters off-balance with his four-pitch mix and struck out seven to become the national leader with 170. LSU (49-15), which won the SEC regular-season series against the Razorbacks in Baton Rouge last month, improved to 4-0 in all-time CWS meetings. The Tigers will play UCLA on Monday night as they continue their bid to win a second national title in three years. Arkansas (48-14), in its 12th CWS and looking for its first championship, meets Murray State in an elimination game Monday. The matchup between the No. 3 national seed Razorbacks and No. 6 Tigers marked the first time since the NCAA Tournament went to its current format in 1999 that the highest remaining seeds have met in their CWS opener. The Tigers were up 3-0 in the second inning after Root (8-6) issued two walks and allowed a bunt single to Daniel Dickinson to load the bases. Chris Stanfield singled in a run and another was forced in when Root plunked Michael Braswell III in the foot. The third came home when Josh Pearson grounded to short and beat the relay throw to first on the double-play attempt. That was all for Root, whose 1 2/3 innings marked his shortest start of the season. Gabe Gaeckle, who moved to the bullpen after making nine starts, kept his team in the game. He allowed just three hits, and his 10 strikeouts and six innings were career highs. Gaeckle left with two outs and a runner on second in the eighth. Cole Gibler came on and Derek Curiel sent his 0-2 pitch to left for an insurance run. Anderson (11-1) held the Razorbacks scoreless until the sixth when Reese Robinett connected for his third homer of the season. The left-hander from tiny Madisonville, Louisiana, went seven innings for the third straight start and departed after Cam Kozeal singled leading off the eighth. Chase Shores retired three straight and turned things over to freshman Casan Evans in the ninth. Evans worked around Charles Davalan's leadoff single to finish off the Razorbacks. The full house of more than 25,000 was evenly split between the fan bases. Well before first pitch, Arkansas fans countered passionate 'L-S-U' chants by raising their arms and doing the Hog call: 'Wooooooooo. Pig. Sooie!' Influencer and former LSU gymnast Livvy Dunne was in the front row in a half-LSU, half-Pittsburgh Pirates No. 30 jersey with the name of her boyfriend, Paul Skenes, on the back. Skenes pitched on LSU's 2023 title team before he made his fast rise in the majors. ___ AP college sports: recommended
