The Chicago Sky currently hold a 2-4 record after the first month of the 2025 WNBA season. New head coach Tyler Marsh and the Sky started off on a four-game losing streak but rebounded with back-to-back wins against the 1-6 Dallas Wings.

Second-year post players Kamilla Cardoso and Angel Reese, both of whom were first-round picks during the 2024 WNBA Draft, have put together solid campaigns once again. Cardoso is averaging 11.3 points and 6.5 rebounds per contest, while Reese is contributing 10.0 points and a league-leading 12.3 rebounds per game.
Both landed on the 2024 WNBA All-Rookie team last season, and they have grown even more in their second year.

Part of this growth can be attributed to assistant coach Courtney Paris, an 11-year WNBA veteran who was hired as an assistant coach under Tyler Marsh this season. She won the 2018 WNBA championship with the Seattle Storm and led the league in total rebounds on two occasions.

Paris spoke with Sky reporter Karli Bell ahead of the team's rematch against the Indiana Fever on Saturday. She spoke about 2024 WNBA All-Star forward Angel Reese and what has impressed her most.
'She has another level. When it's time to play, she competes at a level, and you can teach anything you want to teach in sports, but that competitive edge that you bring every day is either you have it or you don't,' Paris said. 'She just has it to the top level, even with all the pressure she has on her. That's what most impressed me about her and what continues to impress me about her.'
Reese averaged 13.6 points and a WNBA-record 13.1 rebounds per game as a rookie, which landed her a spot on both the All-Star and All-Rookie teams. She is averaging a double-double once again this season and has four games of 12 or more rebounds.
On Saturday, the Sky will host the Indiana Fever at the United Center in Chicago for their first game of the Commissioner's Cup. They will also be looking to avenge the 93 to 58 defeat that they suffered on opening day of the 2025 season. The game will tipoff at 8:00 p.m. EST.

It's certainly an interesting turn for Marina Mabrey, who recently played one of the worst games in WNBA history. It is worth noting, though, that the Sun's only wins so far this 2025 season came in games when Mabrey scored more than 25 points. Their other victory was an 85-83 win over the Indiana Fever where Mabrey dropped 26 points. Mabrey was previously part of the Chicago Sky from 2023 to 2024. She played alongside All-Star forward Angel Reese last campaign, but she didn't finish the season with the Windy City franchise after requesting a trade. Chicago sent Mabrey to the Sun, getting Rachel Banham and Moriah Jefferson in return, per ESPN. The Sky also received a 2025 second-round pick and the rights to swap first-round picks with Connecticut in 2026. The Dallas Wings and the Los Angeles Sparks were both trying to snap their three-game losing streaks Friday night, and the Sparks came out on top. The Wings are now 1-8 on the season after losing to the Sparks 93-79 behind LA's Azura Stevens' career-high five 3-pointers. Former Wings guard turned Sparks guard, Odyssey Sims, who was coming off a 32-point performance in an 85-80 loss to Phoenix on Sunday, added 19 points and three 3-pointers for Los Angeles. The Wings trailed by five at halftime after Sims converted a three-point play with 2.2 seconds left. Sims finished the half with nine points, Stevens added 13 and Dearica Hamby had 11. The Sparks started the third quarter on a 6-0 run and added a 9-0 run to begin the fourth for a 76-55 lead. The Wings had three turnovers and two missed shots in the opening three minutes of the fourth. Stevens reached her career high on 3-pointers with 4:45 left in the fourth on a wide-open shot from the corner off a nice drive and pass by Kelsey Plum. DiJonai Carrington scored 16 points and JJ Quinerly had a career-high 14 for Dallas. Luisa Geiselsoder had 11 points and 10 rebounds for her first double-double. Kaila Charles had 10 points. The Wings were without both of their point guards -- rookie Paige Bueckers, who missed her third consecutive game with a concussion, and Ty Harris. JJ Redick saw Tyrese Haliburton's potential three years ago Tyrese Haliburton of the Indiana Pacers has been a rising star for some time now, but over the last several weeks, he has become perhaps as dangerous a player as there is in the NBA. During the regular season, there were quite a few people who thought he was overrated, and he wasn't even named to this year's All-Star team. But he has exploded during the playoffs and hit a number of clutch and game-winning shots, including the dagger he nailed just before time expired in Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Thursday. Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick may have seen at least some of this coming. In February 2022, when the Sacramento Kings traded Haliburton to the Indiana Pacers along with Buddy Hield and Tristan Thompson for Domantas Sabonis, Justin Holiday and Jeremy Lamb, Redick said point-blank that Haliburton was the best player on the Kings. "This is some form of malpractice on the Kings' part," Redick said of the trade. "... Tyrese Haliburton has been the best player on that team. ... He was determined to turn things around and be part of that rebuild in Sacramento. I know he's shocked right now, but they traded away their best player." The Kings took Haliburton with the No. 12 pick in the 2020 draft, and at the time, he was starting in their backcourt alongside De'Aaron Fox. Fox was putting up much better scoring numbers, and to this day, he has continued to average more points than Haliburton, but Haliburton has been the better 3-point shooter, passer and facilitator. Haliburton led the NBA in assists per game last season, and he now has Indiana just three wins away from an NBA championship. Meanwhile, Sacramento made the playoffs in 2023 as the third seed in the Western Conference but has failed to reach the playoffs in both of the last two seasons.
