Hyderabad: Despite earlier demolition drives, encroachments resurfaced in Rajaji Nagar layout of Koheda village in Abdullapurmet mandal in Rangareddy district, prompting action from
HYDRAA
commissioner
AV Ranganath
, who conducted a surprise inspection on Wednesday.
The layout, spread across approximately 17 acres and consisting of nearly 190 plots, previously saw parks and roads being illegally occupied by one
Sammireddy Bal Reddy
using alleged forged documents. Following complaints by affected plot owners through the public grievance platform 'Praja Vani', HYDRAA took action and cleared

raised on roads and public spaces. This offered a brief respite to the plot owners.
However, in a blatant violation, Sammireddy allegedly resumed construction on the same site, once again obstructing public areas.
Plot owners attempted to stop the ongoing activity, but were reportedly assaulted and driven away by him. They subsequently lodged a fresh complaint, triggering the HYDRAA commissioner's field visit.
Speaking at the site, commissioner Ranganath assured residents that all encroachments, particularly those on roads and parks marked in the original layout, would be cleared once again. "We will conduct a thorough inquiry and initiate criminal proceedings against those responsible for the illegal occupation," he said, assuring strict action.
The commissioner also visited the newly developed lake in Koheda village following complaints that some plot owners hand encroached upon the water body. A detailed inspection was carried out to assess the situation.

Encroachers target old panchayat layouts in Hyd; 64 complaints filed in a day
1 2 Hyderabad: Old gram panchayat layouts on the outskirts of Hyderabad are increasingly falling prey to land encroachments, with 64 complaints filed in a single day via Hydra Prajavani, the city's public grievance platform. Over 60% of these complaints related to the illegal occupation of plots in older layouts, many dating back decades, where roads and parks have allegedly been converted into private or agricultural land. Complainants reported that encroachers are using Dharani passbooks to claim ownership and obstruct access for legitimate plot holders. In numerous instances, they are demolishing park boundaries and internal roads to extend their control over the land. Hydra Commissioner AV Ranganath reviewed several cases using Google Maps and instructed officials to conduct ground inspections. "Unless a layout is officially revised, its original roads and parks remain legally protected. We will examine each case and act after hearing both parties," he stated.
