The squad have hailed their Dutch manager, who has now won three consecutive Euros titles, for her impassioned and inspirational speeches throughout the tournament.
Ahead of both the Italy and Sweden games Wiegman fired the squad up and they went on to come from behind, across extra time, in all three knockout games in Switzerland.
Asked about Wiegman's pep-talks, Mead said: "Sarina had a certain little way of motivating us, it was great, it was funny, it was everything.
"She did it again tonight.

Man United's revival, a bad omen for Liverpool... and the side playing in Europe set for a relegation battle: Supercomputer predicts the Premier League table
Liverpool will fail to successfully defend their Premier League title this summer, despite their huge summer splurge of more than £290million. That's according to a Sportscasting supercomputer, which has predicted the final top flight table just a matter of weeks out from the start of the new season. The Reds have taken the opportunity of the summer transfer window to invest heavily in their squad, with the likes of Hugo Ekitike (£79m), Florian Wirtz (£116m) and Milos Kerkez (£40m) among the arrivals so far. Elsewhere, Jeremie Frimpong (£29.5m) and Giorgi Mamardashvili (£29m) have also joined, while the champions maintain interest in Alexander Isak, who has told Newcastle he is interested in leaving but would again cost north of £100m. According to the supercomputer, though, the Reds will only manage a third-place finish this season, despite reaching 85 points, having finished on 84 last season. The champions will instead be Manchester City, according to the prediction. Arsenal will also be sandwiched between them, once again finishing second. On Liverpool's chances, the supercomputer said: 'Arne Slot's rebuilt side will feature a potent attack - with Mo Salah alongside signings Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz. 'But their defence will let them down against top teams, causing them to slip to third in the title race.' The Reds have lost Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid, while their centre back options are just Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate, with Joe Gomez injured. On City, meanwhile, who came third last season as they gave up their title for the first time in five years, the computer said: 'Even without any seismic squad changes, their machine-like system - powered by Omar Marmoush, Phil Foden, the returning Rodri, and a 36-goal season from Erling Haaland - keeps them dominant. 'Their depth and consistency in tight matches give them the edge over Arsenal and Liverpool.' The prediction states that City will finish on 92 points - four ahead of Arsenal. That suggests the title race could go down to the final day. Occupying the fourth Champions League spot is predicted to be Chelsea, building on their Club World Cup success this summer, managing 79 points. In fifth, meanwhile, is quite an eye-catching call. Manchester United are set to return to the upper echelons of the top flight, show vast improvement under Ruben Amorim as he enters his first full season in charge of the club. United haven't been majorly busy in the summer transfer window with just Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon arriving for north of £140m combined, but they are expected to look to continue to buy and build on their 15th-place finish last season. United do not have European competition to balance this year, meaning they will have a free shot at Premier League success, and, according to the supercomputer, that will pay off. While Aston Villa are listed in fifth, Tottenham will also have an improved season as they climb from 17th to seventh in the table. Thomas Frank is now in charge, and the club are hoping for an improvement on the field. One side who will struggle to do that, though, is apparently Newcastle. Eddie Howe's side snuck into the Champions League last term because of Villa losing on the final day, but have struggled in their recruitment this summer. So far, the Magpies have signed Anthony Elanga for £55m, but have lost out on the likes of Ekitike and seem set to be beaten to James Trafford by Manchester City too. While they are monitoring Aaron Ramsdale, they could also lose Isak and go into this season somewhat weaker than the last. West Ham, though, could improve under Graham Potter and finish ninth, while Everton are tipped to make the top 10 in their new stadium. Wolves are also backed for improvement under Vitor Periera despite losing Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri in 12th, just behind Brighton in 11th. Frank's departure isn't predicted to impact Brentford too much, either, with Keith Andrews' side tipped to come 13th. That is ahead of London rivals Fulham in 14th, FA Cup winners Crystal Palace in 15th and Bournemouth in 16th. That trio will apparently finish ahead of Nottingham Forest, who will seemingly suffer a dramatic fall from grace after finishing seventh last term, narrowly missing out on a Champions League spot. Despite keeping hold of Morgan Gibbs-White and only losing Elanga from their big names, Forest are tipped to come 17th this season. That is once again ahead of the three newly-promoted sides, with Burnley in 18th, Sunderland 19th and Leeds 20th. Though it could go down to the final day, Forest are predicted to reach 40 points, five ahead of Burnley with 35. Sunderland are then backed to achieve 32, while Leeds are tipped to prop up the division on 28. In another prediction, Erling Haaland is backed to win the Golden Boot with a staggering 36 goals. That will apparently be 13 ahead of Salah, 16 ahead of Isak and 19 ahead of Cole Palmer. Mikel Arteta is also predicted to win Manager of the Season despite failing to deliver the Premier League title again.

Katie Ledecky captures yet another gold in signature event at swimming worlds
Katie Ledecky has ceded a tiny bit of ground in other events, but she's still unbeatable in the 1,500-meter freestyle. She won it again Tuesday in the swimming world championships in Singapore, finishing in 15 minutes, 26.44 seconds. Simona Quadarella of Italy took silver in 15:31.79 – a European record – with bronze for Lani Pallister of Australia in 15:41.18 in a very quick-paced race. The schedule The swimming portion of the World Aquatics Championships takes place from 27 July through 3 August at the Singapore Sports Hub. The heats start at 10am local time (2am GMT, 10pm ET). The semi-finals and finals start at 7pm local time (11am GMT, 7am ET). The full schedule is available in PDF format or on the World Aquatics website. How to watch In the United States, coverage will be available on NBC and streaming service Peacock. In the United Kingdom, Aquatics GB holds the UK rights to stream events. In Australia, the Nine Network will provide broadcast coverage throughout the championships. In Canada, events will be broadcast live on CBC, with streaming options via CBC digital platforms. For other countries and full international broadcast listings, visit the World Aquatics broadcast page. Additionally, the World Aquatics Recast channel will re-air all sessions of the meet, heats and finals for a fee. 'I was just trying to get out fast, but comfortable enough that I could go from there,' Ledecky said. 'I'm happy with the time and happy with the swim.' 'I love this race,' she added. 'It was the race I broke my first world record in 2013. Lots of great races over the years.' Ledecky was ahead of her world-record pace through 1,250 meters, pushed early by Pallister. It was Ledecky's second medal in these games after taking bronze in the 400 free behind Canadian Summer McIntosh. The numbers speak to Ledecky's dominance, the most decorated female swimmer in history who has been on top for more than a decade. With Tuesday's swim she now owns 25 of the top 26 times in history in the 1,500. Her time Tuesday was the fifth fastest, not far off her world record of 15:20.48 set in 2018. It was her 22nd gold medal in a world championships and her 28th overall. Add to that nine Olympic gold medals and 14 overall. If you're not counting, that's 42 Olympic and world medals – 31 gold. Watching from the stands was new International Olympic Committee President Kirsty Coventry. She was joined by former president Thomas Bach. Coventry was an Olympic gold-medal winner for Zimbabwe in 2004 and 2008 in the 200-meter backstroke. The Americans had the top qualifying times going into four finals and won one gold and three silver medals with very close finishes in all three. The United States team have been battling what officials called 'acute gastroenteritis' picked up at a training camp in Thailand before arriving in Singapore. American head coach Greg Meehan said much of team had turned the corner. 'We're taking it a day at a time,' he said in an interview with American network NBC. 'Obviously, this is not how we thought the first few days of this competition would go. But I'm really proud of our team, our medical staff working overtime. You don't want your medical staff working overtime.' 'If you were in our team area you would never know that the overall majority of the team has gone through something over the last few days,' Meehan added, saying the team 'vibe' was good. McIntosh, who won two gold medals the first two days, did not race on Tuesday, Day 3 of the competition. She will face Ledecky in the 800, maybe the most anticipated race of the worlds. Paris Olympic champion David Popovici of Romania won the 200-meter freestyle, overtaking American Luke Hobson in the last 50 meters for the victory. Popovici swam 1:43.53 with Hobson across in 1:43.84. Tatsuya Murasa of Japan was third in 1:44.54. 'I think it was better than the Olympics to be honest,' Popovici said of the victory. 'You know why? Because I trained a lot for the Olympics. But this coming for a more relaxed year, easygoing year after the Olympics. I don't know. I feel very proud of myself.' Kaylee McKeown of Australia took the women's 100-meter backstroke, closing over the last 50 to beat American Regan Smith. McKeown finished in 57.16 – just .03 off the world record held by Smith. Smith finished in 57.35 with bronze for American Katharine Berkoff in 58.15. McKeown is the two-time defending Olympic champion in this race and also in the 200 backstroke. She also beat Smith a year ago in Paris with Smith taking silver. Pieter Coetze of South Africa represents a new wave of contenders with the 21-year-old winning the men's 100 backstroke in 51.85 seconds. Thomas Ceccon of Italy took silver in 51.90, with bronze for Yohann Ndoye-Brouard in 51.92. Ceccon is the world record-holder in 51.60. In the last final of the night, Anna Elendt of Germany – swimming from Lane 1 – took the women's 100-meter breaststroke in 1:05.19. American Kate Douglass took silver in 1:05.27, with bronze for Tang Qianting of China in 1:05.64. 'I am so speechless,' Elendt said. Germany has been piling it on. Lukas Martens took gold on Sunday in the 400 free. Florian Wellbrock also won four gold medals in the open-water events which took place earlier in the championships. In the semi-finals, Luca Urlando of the United States was the top qualifier in the 200 fly (1:52.84), teammate Claire Weinstein led the women's 200 free (1:54.69), and China's Qin Haiyang led the 50 breaststroke (26.52). Ahmed Jaouadi of Tunisia was quickest in the 800 free in morning prelims (7:41.58).

Chelsea files: Key date edges closer in Mike Maignan transfer saga as Gianluigi Donnarumma deal is all but ruled out
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) THE loan move of Mike Penders to Chelsea's sister club Strasbourg makes the goalkeeping situation look even clearer. With Marcus Bettinelli and Djordje Petrovic leaving the club, Enzo Maresca's 'keeper line-up for next season looks like Robert Sanchez, Filip Jorgensen and young American Gabriel Slonina, in that order. Rumours of Chelsea having another go at signing AC Milan's Mike Maignan have not gone away. Stats gurus say the France international would be the perfect fit for the Blues, because he is excellent with his feet as well as top class in most other aspects of goalkeeping. Meanwhile, big clubs around the world are aware that Gianluigi Donnarumma has not signed a new contract at Paris Saint-Germain and the European champions are poised to bring in Lucas Chevalier from Lille. READ MORE CHELSEA NEWS NIC OF TIME Ripped Jackson plays beach football and rides jet ski amid Man Utd move rumours Chelsea, Manchester United and Galatasaray could also be interested in a new 'keeper, leading some observers to put two and two together. But in the Blues' case, the answer is probably five. Aside from the biggish transfer fee that PSG would want, Donnarumma's £300,000-per-week wages just would not fit into the Chelsea owners' blueprint. Deals to bring in defender Jorrel Hato and attacking midfielder Xavi Simons will go through sooner or later. But the big question is whether Maresca and the Blues are willing to put their faith in Sanchez for another season. The August 10 friendly against AC will give the people who matter the chance to have another chat about him. BLUE HORIZONS CHELSEA'S fire sale continues to gather pace, but some moves will be more complicated than others. Drake hints Cole Palmer is inspiration behind his new album name as he shares brilliant video of Chelsea star Joao Felix is making a swift exit to Saudi Arabia while Djorde Petrovic has joined Bournemouth. Other deals are proving more challenging. Carney Chukwuemeka, the midfielder signed from Aston Villa in a £20million deal two years ago, spent last season on loan with Borussia Dortmund. And he has his heart set on going back to join the German side. 11 Joao Felix is set for an exit from Stamford Bridge Credit: Getty 11 Carney Chukwuemeka could also be on his way out Credit: Getty Chelsea have been holding out for up to £40m for the 21-year-old, who has also attracted interest from RB Leipzig. Chukwuemeka is clear that he only wants a move back to Dortmund, but they are only considering a loan at this stage - something which is not as attractive to Chelsea. This has resulted in somewhat of an impasse in talks, something which looks like it could take a while to get past. Someone is going to have to budge. BLUE IT THERE was excitement among Chelsea fans - and supporters of other clubs were furious - when reports went round of the club's owners investing another £339m. But what sounded like a substantial transfer warchest was in fact another bit of sensible accountancy. For a start the actual figure Stamford Bridge chiefs put into the club by means of the June 30 share issue was just over £339,000. In layman's terms, millions of new shares in Chelsea FC Holdings were created and bought by Blueco 22 Midco, one of the firms through which the owners control the club. 11 Todd Boehly has headed up Chelsea since May 2022 Credit: Alamy Why? 339k does not get you much in football these days. But the date of the transaction is significant - the final day of the Blues' financial year. Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules allow clubs to lose an average of £35m per season or a maximum of £105m over each three-season reporting period. But that limit is only £5m per season (£15m in total) unless owners put new money in the form of equity (not loans) into the club every year. Chelsea bosses did the same thing on June 29 2024, just before the end of that financial reporting period. So this year's share issue wasn't to fund the big spending of the summer. It was simply to give Chelsea the biggest amount of leeway possible for PSR purposes, which they are likely to need BECAUSE of the outlay on transfers. BLUE SKIES CHELSEA stars have flooded social media with photos from their glamorous vacations. Player of the season Moises Caicedo picked up another award while back in his native Ecuador. The country's parliament presented Caicedo with the Vicente Rocafuerte medal, the highest civilian honour for sporting excellence, in recognition for his role in Chelsea's Club World Cup win. But the most heartwarming snaps came from club captain Reece James. 11 Moises Caicedo has been taking a break back in Ecuador Credit: INSTAGRAM 11 He has been making the most of his vacation Credit: INSTAGRAM 11 Reece James flew out to watch sister Lauren win the Euros Earlier in the weekend, James posted footage of him out and about in Basel. And on Sunday, the man who lifted the CWC trophy was celebrating as sister Lauren, one of six members of the Chelsea women's team in the England squad, became a European champion. TICKET WOES SOME Chelsea fans have been left furious at the club's new ticketing system, with many unable even to get close to attending the first game of the season vs Crystal Palace. The new system, in partnership with Ticketmaster, has been controversial since its introduction, but has now left fans wishing they could get a refund for the £60 'premium' membership they bought before the season began. True Blue member Aadam told the Chelsea Files: 'The new Chelsea ticketing system is a joke. 'I had 136 points last season, went to loads of games including the final in Poland, but didn't even get a shot at a Palace ticket. 11 Chelsea fans fuming about the club's ticketing system Credit: Getty 'At least with the old system, there was a chance, and now even my mate with a season ticket can't help out on the new system. 'Total shambles and I wish I could get a refund for my £60 membership!' But other supporters said they liked the new system, which puts all members trying to buy tickets into a queue and gives them a number in that queue that gives a good indication of their chances of getting anything. The process favours the more casual fan who can't afford to attend every home game but wants the opportunity to buy a few tickets per season. But the queue of 10s of thousands trying to buy a ticket for the Palace game underlines the wider issue: Chelsea badly need a bigger stadium, and the sooner the better. BADGE SHORTAGE MORE frustration for supporters came in the Chelsea Megastore. On Monday, some fans turned up at the Stamford Bridge shop hoping to buy the Club World Cup Winners patch for their shirts. But the item was sold out. Hopefully, the Blues have enough of them to make sure the men's first team can at least wear them with pride. 11 Chelsea will have a special badge on their shirt for winning the Club World Cup Credit: Getty The Under-21 side who donned the new kit for the friendly at Bromley did not have the patch on their shirts. It is unclear whether Enzo Maresca's senior team will have the badge of honour for the friendlies against Bayer Levekusen and AC Milan, or wait until the first Premier League game against Crystal Palace.
