Pedestrian critically injured in Seton Crescent collision

A pedestrian is in hospital in critical condition after being hit by a vehicle in Calgary's southeast on Friday.
Police say it happened just before 1:30 p.m. in the 19400 block of Seton Crescent S.E.
The pedestrian was critically injured in the collision, police say, and the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.
Investigation into what exactly led to the incident is ongoing.

Cambridge mother killed in Hwy. 401 crash: OPP
Social Sharing A mother is dead and her child injured following a two-vehicle collision on Highway 401 in Milton Saturday, Ontario Provincial Police reported. The OPP said a section of the busy highway near James Snow Parkway is shut down while officers investigate. The crash happened on the eastbound express lanes. The OPP said it appears a 40-year-old woman from Cambridge, Ont., was driving when she struck a guard rail and was then hit by a pickup truck around 10:11 a.m. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her six-year-old daughter was taken to hospital with minor injuries. The three people in the pickup truck weren't injured, police said. Any witnesses are being asked to contact the Mississauga OPP detachment. Traffic is being diverted in the area.

N.B. RCMP look for vehicle of interest tied to arson, assault

Police described the vehicle as a black Honda Civic with New Brunswick licence plate JMY 601. Police said it is missing its front bumper. RCMP did not have a photo of the vehicle. According to police, the vehicle may be connected to incidents in St. Stephen and St. George, including arson and assault with a weapon. Police did not say when these incidents occurred and did not provide any details on potential suspects. Man dead, woman injured after possibly inhaling pool chemical fumes in Blainville
A man is dead and a woman is in hospital after potentially having inhaled fumes from their backyard swimming pool in a suburb on Montreal's North Shore. Thérèse-De Blainville police (RIPTB) say neighbours called 911 around 10 p.m. Friday about two people experiencing health problems. Police and paramedics were dispatched to the residence on Carré Hotte Street, where they found the two unconscious by the empty pool. Officers noticed that chemicals used to repair the pool lining could have caused the medical emergency, according to chief inspector Karine Desaulniers. First responders tried to resuscitate both people who were then brought to hospital. The man, 48, was declared dead about an hour later, around 11:30 p.m. The woman, 50, is in stable condition. Some officers were also affected by the chemical fumes and were briefly treated in hospital before being released. Neighbouring residences were evacuated as a precaution. Residents have all returned home as of Saturday morning. The file has been transferred to the coroner's office and the investigation is ongoing. They have yet to determine which chemical products caused the death. Police say there is no suspicion of criminal activity.
