Gardaí arrest teenager in connection with murder of man in Co Tipperary
investigating the murder of Iarnród Éireann employee Ian Walsh in Co Tipperary have t arrested a teenager for questioning.
The teenager was arrested by officers in the Ballyneale area of Carrick-on-Suir early on Wednesday. He was taken to Clonmel Garda station for questioning .
He is being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act which allows Gardai to hold suspects for up to 24 hours before they must be charged or released.
The arrest comes as
gardaí focused on Mr Walsh's social media activity
and began examining if he had possibly met his killer on line and arranged to meet them at his home in at Ravenswood off Cregg Road in Carrick-on-Suir.

or felt no threat from them when he admitted them to his property.
Mr Walsh, a 49- year-old single man who lived alone, was found dead at about 3.30am on Monday, August 4th by gardaí carrying out a welfare check at the two-story property. They had been contacted by Ms Walsh's family who were concerned for his welfare.
A native of Waterford, Mr Walsh used to travel to Waterford city a couple of times a week to visit his mother, Breda Forristal at her home on Barrack Street. When he failed to visit over the Bank Holiday weekend, family members became concerned and contacted gardaí.
His body was found in the downstairs bathroom of the semidetached house in Ravenswood. Mr Walsh had suffered multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
State Pathologist Dr Yvonne McCartney carried out a postmortem examination on Mr Walsh's body at University Hospital Waterford on August 6th. It concluded that he had been the victim of a violent assault with a bladed weapon sometime over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Garda technical experts spent several days carrying out a forensic examination of the house which investigators are hoping will yield DNA and other evidence which may prove crucial in their efforts to identify Mr Walsh's killer and build a case against them.

A Garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal single vehicle road traffic collision that occurred at approximately 6:50 am Wednesday 20th August 2025 on the M8 (J18) road Southbound, Upper Riverstown, Glanmire, Co Cork. "A man, aged in his 20s, was brought by ambulance to Cork University Hospital. He was pronounced deceased on Wednesday afternoon. "Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them. Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 6:40 am and 7:15 am this morning are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí. Man charged over allegedly threatening people with knife in Limerick town
A MAN WAS charged before a special court sitting last night in connection with an incident in which armed gardaí detained a man after a number of people were allegedly threatened with a knife in Co Limerick. Gardaí said a man was charged before Limerick District Court 'on a number of offences' following an incident in Newcastle West on Tuesday. 'Gardaí responded to reports of a male threatening members of the public in the Maiden Street and North Quay areas at approximately 9pm,' a garda spokesman said. Teenager arrested in connection with investigation into death of man in Tipperary
A TEENAGER has been arrested in connection with an investigation into the death of a man in Co. Tipperary. The body of a man was found in Carrick-On-Suir on August 4, 2025. He has been named locally as Irish Rail (Iarnród Éireann) worker Ian Walsh. "All of us in Iarnród Éireann are shocked and saddened at Ian's passing," the firm said in a statement. "Ian was a well-known and popular colleague across the company, both in his working life and for his passion for railway and transport tourism and heritage," they added. A teenager has since been arrested in connection with the investigation into his death, the police force has confirmed.
