Joanna Gaines says college sendoff is 'one big, breathless surrender' in emotional post
On Sunday, Gaines took to Instagram and shared a room full of boxes with an emotional caption.
"They told me it would go by quicker than I think. That the days are slow but the years are fast. And darn it if they were right. This beautiful gift of time has roared past us all just like I was told."
"Help me to embrace change with a heart filled with hope for the part I know to be truer than the rest—my kids and I may have been made for each other, but I also believe they were made for more. More experiences, more knowledge, more growing than could ever happen within our walls," Gaines said.
She continued, "My oldest son left for his third year of college while my oldest daughter packs for her first year across the country. This season already feels like one big, breathless surrender. Lord, how do I hold them close while also letting go?"
"My oldest son left for his third year of college while my oldest daughter packs for her first year across the country. This season already feels like one big, breathless surrender. Lord, how do I hold them close while also letting go?"
Gaines signed off by addressing parents who are sending their kids off to college and those who still have their children at home.
"And let's all lean on each other when the time comes to hold it together," she concluded.
Joanna and Chip Gaines are parents to five children: Ella, Drake, Crew, Emmie and Duke.
Earlier Sunday, Joanna shared an Instagram reel enjoying one last family dinner before two of her kids head off to college.
"Gulp. Last dinner together before our oldest heads back to college and our second is about to leave home for her freshman year."
"Thankful for the group hug and all the puppies to help me work through my wide range of emotions. And also Crew's motor bike, it made me feel like a kid again. I love you kids so much," she captioned her video.
Joanna has not shared where Ella and Drake are enrolled in college.
In July, Joanna told People it was going to be harder for her to say goodbye to Ella than it was to send Drake off.
"Ella, our second kiddo, she's graduating this year, so we're going through that again with another kid leaving the nest and trying to stay emotionally stable."
Chip asked, "Do you think this is going to be harder [than with Drake?]"
Joanna replied, "Yes. I think there's an emotional difference. With Ella, we love to go to antiques shops, plant shops and go get coffee — that's our rhythm. I kind of feel like I'm losing a friend in my everyday life. It feels like what's coming this summer will be a tidal wave of emotions, and I am not going to brace; I'm going to stand there and take it with him."

Labubus located: Police track down $30,000 worth of popular collectibles stolen from warehouse
The Labubu craze culminated this week after California police recovered roughly $30,000 worth of Labubu dolls that were stolen from a warehouse. The fluffy, fang-toothed plush dolls have become all the rage, dangling from handbags and backpacks. The collectible dolls, mainly sold by Pop Mart, have grown to be a coveted commodity, frequently out of stock due to the surge in demand. The Labubus were stolen in a series of trips that spanned multiple days, the Chino Police Department said in a social media post Tuesday. Law enforcement found the items at a home in Upland, next to Los Angeles. There, a suspect attempted to flee but ultimately surrendered without incident, police said. The suspect has not been identified. Investigators found 14 boxes of stolen items and evidence indicating the suspects were planning to resell and ship the collectibles across the country, the department said. The recovery comes days after a group of masked thieves stole about $7,000 worth of Labubus from One Stop Sales, a store in La Puente known for selling the toothy monsters. One Stop Sales said in an Instagram post that the thieves took all of the store's inventory and ransacked the store. Surveillance video captured a group of people wearing hoodies and masks breaking in to the shop in the wee hours of August 6 before shuffling through items and leaving with boxes. 'We are still in shock,' the store said in its post, urging people to help find the burglars. The grinning dolls have really sunk their teeth into society since they were created in 2015 by Hong Kong artist Kasing Lung. The collectible figurines are often sold in 'blind boxes' – sealed containers holding a surprise item from a themed collection. The dolls' popularity seems to have stemmed from Lisa, from the K-pop band BlackPink, who shared her Labubu on her Instagram stories and even referred to Labubu as her 'baby' during an interview with Teen Vogue. Other celebrities have also jumped on the trend. Rihanna has been seen with a Labubu attached to her Louis Vuitton bag while Emma Roberts took to Instagram to open a blind box. Given the surge in demand, last month, Pop Mart said it expects at least a 350 percent profit and about a 200 percent jump in revenue for the first six months of the year.

Ashley Biden files for divorce from husband of 13 years
Ashley Biden, the daughter of former President Biden and former first lady Jill Biden, filed for divorce Monday from her husband, Dr. Howard Krein, after more than 13 years of marriage. Court documents show legal proceedings were filed against Krein in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas. Moments after filing, Ashley Biden posted, 'New life, new beginnings means new boundaries. New ways of being that won't look or sound like they did before,' on Instagram with the background song set to 'Freedom Time' by Lauryn Hill. Details of the divorce and complaint were not disclosed in the filings. Ashley Biden and Krein started dating in 2010 after reportedly meeting through her brother, Beau Biden. Two years later, Ashley Biden and Krein, a plastic surgeon and ear, nose and throat doctor, married at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Roman Catholic Church, in Greenville, Del., as reported by People magazine. Ashley Biden recounted their nuptials at the 2024 Democratic National Convention and discussed her father's final words before her wedding to Krein. 'Before he walked me down the aisle, he turned to me and said he would always be my best friend. All these years later, Dad, you are still my best friend,' Ashley said.
