How can Rory McIlroy challenge Scottie Scheffler at the Tour Championship?

Video Transcript
Thursday, we get the pairing everybody wants.
We get Rory and Scotty.
Right?
And I'm a big believer that the best Batman movies are defined by the villain also.
So like I need a hero and a villain for all of this.
Walk me through this.
How does Rory really push Scotty?
Can we get this sort of hero versus villain moment that everybody wants?
Yeah, I mean, and it's, it's interesting because both of these guys, you know, you're not quite sure who the hero is or who the villain is at this point because they've both had their, their moments in the sun this year.
They've, they've won 3 of the 4 majors.
They've absolutely dominated the golf world.
Rory is a little bit of an interesting character because he's, he won the Masters and then sort of, that this is a career achievement for him.
It's a lifetime achievement for him and he was, he got to the finish line and he kinda, he collapsed literally and metaphorically.
He hasn't really played as well as he has since then.
So, and Scheffler seems to be at this, this incredibly high level.
Fortunately, unfortunately for your narrative and, and fortunately for golf fans, uh, there's not really a defined villain here.
A lot of the villains actually went over to the live tour, the guys that fans will would, uh, root against these two guys are both really easy to root for, but in terms of them pushing each other, yeah, that's what's gonna be interesting is because they're both hyper-competitive, they're both hyper talented, they're both at the top of their games.
And if they both are committed enough and bring their game this week, it's gonna set up a really great Ryder Cup in a few weeks when both of them are gonna be leading their respective, uh, national teams.
So who do you give the?
I mean, until anybody stops Scotty Scheffler, you got to go with Scotty.
He is, he's on an all-time heater.
It's the kind of run that, that, that, that is, it draws comparisons to Tiger, but not yet Tiger Tiger-like.
But yeah, he's, he's doing so, so well now that it's tough to bet against him until someone else steps up and takes him out.

Brent Hinds, co-founder of heavy metal band Mastodon, dead after motorcycle crash
MusicFacebookTweetLink Follow Brent Hinds, the co-founder of Grammy Award-winning heavy metal band Mastodon, has died after being injured in a motorcycle accident in Atlanta. He was reportedly 51. 'We are in a state of unfathomable sadness and grief,' a statement posted to the group's official Instagram page on Thursday said. 'We are heartbroken, shocked, and still trying to process the loss of this creative force with whom we've shared so many triumphs, milestones, and the creation of music that has touched the hearts of so many.' Hinds, a guitarist, parted ways with the band in March. When asked for comment about Hinds' death, a public information officer for the Atlanta Police Department pointed to a preliminary statement regarding the accident posted to the department's website. According to the statement, a male victim who was riding a Harley Davidson was struck by a SUV at the intersection of Memorial Dr. SE and Boulevard SE in Atlanta at 11:35 p.m. on Wednesday evening. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by medical personnel, according to the information provided on the website. The investigation remains active, according to the website. Hinds co-founded Mastodon in 2000 alongside bassist Troy Sanders, guitarist Bill Kelliher and drummer Brann Dailor. Mastodon has earned six Grammy nominations during their career, including one win for best metal performance in 2018. They are arguably best known for their albums 'The Hunter,' 'One More 'Round the Sun,' and 'Emperor of Sand.' The band also made two cameo appearances on HBO's 'Game of Thrones,' portraying wildlings in the episodes 'Hardhome' and 'The Dragon and the Wolf.' In announcing Hinds' departure from the band, a statement posted to the band's Instagram page earlier this year stated that they were 'deeply proud of and beyond grateful for the music and history we've shared' and wished Hinds 'nothing but success and happiness in his future endeavors.' Hinds seemingly carried some animosity toward his bandmates over the split, but never publicly spoke about it at length, aside from a later-deleted comment made on the band's social media page.

Ravens' Lamar Jackson OK after injury scare: ‘Prayers do get answered'
OWINGS MILLS, Md. — Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Lamar Jackson is fine, and that an X-ray taken after the quarterback had his foot stepped on during Wednesday's practice revealed no concerns. Jackson exited Wednesday's practice with about 30 minutes remaining in the workout and did not practice Thursday, the team's final session before Saturday's preseason finale against the Washington Commanders. Jackson, the two-time league MVP, has not played this preseason and wasn't expected to play Saturday, even before he got banged up. Advertisement 'He got his foot stepped on like we said yesterday,' Harbaugh said after Thursday's practice. 'They did a quick X-ray, and there's no damage or anything like that. I'm sure it's a little sore today, so we just kept him in. He's going to be good.' It wasn't initially clear what led to Jackson going to the ground after throwing a pass during a full-team session late in Wednesday's practice. Two of the Ravens' offensive linemen immediately ran toward Jackson to help him up. Jackson stayed on the field for a few more plays after the fall, although he didn't look entirely comfortable. He threw a few errant passes and, at one point, appeared to be flexing his right hand/wrist. Jackson then walked inside the team facility alongside head strength and conditioning coordinator Scott Elliott. Members of the team's medical and athletic training staff joined them in the building later. Harbaugh didn't speak to reporters on Wednesday, and offensive coordinator Todd Monken said he didn't see the play where Jackson hit the ground. A Ravens spokesperson told reporters Jackson just had his foot stepped on. Harbaugh said Thursday that the clean X-ray was a 'big relief.' 'I told the guys, 'Prayers do get answered,'' Harbaugh said. 'I was praying.' Cooper Rush is Jackson's backup and is expected to start Saturday against the Commanders at Northwest Stadium. Spot the pattern. NFL has increased security at its offices following a shooting that killed 4 people last month
The NFL has increased security at its offices following a shooting last month at a Manhattan building by a gunman authorities say was targeting league headquarters. 'We are working with the building and the other tenants within the building on building security,' NFL executive Jeff Miller said Thursday. The league previously recommended enhanced security measures at team and league facilities. The recommendations will be reviewed at a special league meeting on Aug. 26. NFL employees are back in their offices after working remotely in the weeks following the shooting that killed four people and injured a league employee. Investigators believe Shane Tamura, 27, of Las Vegas, was trying to get to the NFL offices after shooting several people in the building's lobby, then another in a 33rd-floor office on July 28, before he killed himself, authorities said. Police said Tamura had a history of mental illness, and a rambling note found on his body suggested that he had a grievance against the NFL over a claim that he suffered from chronic traumatic encephalopathy, a degenerative brain disease that can be diagnosed only by examining the brain after a person dies. Tamura played high school football in California a decade ago but never in the NFL. ___ AP NFL:
