Tesla launched in India! but Elon Musk wasn't founder of company, it was started by…, how worlds richest man became owner of Tesla?

Global EV giant Tesla officially made its entry in India on Tuesday with the launch of its first experience centre at the Maker Maxity Commercial Complex, in Bandra Kurla Complex here. The experience centre was inaugurated by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in the presence of other dignitaries.
Tesla has made its India debut at a time when it is facing reduced sales in Europe and China. When the dream of Tesla was born, electric cars were still considered futuristic concepts. Today, however, Tesla has revolutionized the automobile industry with the help of energy, artificial intelligence, and even space technology. Tesla is now seen as one of the world's most innovative companies. Who Founded Tesla?
The name 'Tesla' immediately brings the image of Elon Musk in everyone's mind. In fact, Musk is now almost a synonym with the brand. But surprisingly, he wasn't the founder of Tesla. He entered the company as an investor.
Whenever the world talks about electric vehicles (EVs), Tesla comes in tops the list. But Elon Musk didn't start this company but two engineers did. Tesla began on July 1, 2003, when engineers Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning co-founded Tesla Motors. Their goal was to create an electric car that wouldn't harm the environment the way petrol or diesel vehicles do.
Being engineers, they were very much passionate about technology. At the time, their vision of EVs was considered highly impractical. But the duo stayed committed to their idea and named the company in honor of the great inventor Nikola Tesla, who discovered alternating current (AC). From the beginning, Tesla wanted to build emission-free, fast, and stylish electric vehicles. Musk's Entry In Tesla
The story took a major turn in 2004 with the entry of Elon Musk. By then, Musk had already made a name for himself as the founder of SpaceX and PayPal. In Tesla's Series A funding round, Musk invested $6.5 million and became the Chairman. Gradually, Musk took over responsibilities related to product design, vision, and marketing.
In 2008, when Tesla was on the brink of bankruptcy, Musk emerged as its savior by taking over as CEO. Though initially just an investor, Musk became Tesla's CEO and later even acquired the title of co-founder. Eberhard had filed a defamation lawsuit against Musk, but in 2009, the verdict went in Musk's favor. Tesla's First Car
In 2008, Tesla launched its first car, the Roadster. It was a high-performance sports car that was fully electric. It could accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds and offered a 320 km range on a single charge. The Roadster broke the myth that electric cars had to be slow or boring as it was fast, and powerful.
In fact, Musk even launched his own Roadster into space aboard a SpaceX rocket in 2018. That car is still orbiting the Earth today. Tesla's Journey
Musk later created a strategy for Tesla called S3XY, which included the following models: Model S: A luxury sedan.
Model 3: Launched in 2017 as Tesla's first 'affordable' car, opening the doors for middle-class consumers.
Model X: Launched in 2015, a family SUV with falcon-wing doors and high-tech interiors.
Model Y: A compact SUV.

Tesla rolls in, but bumps stay on EV growth path

The duty reduction in the India-UK deal focuses on nonelectric vehicles and does not encompass any out-of-quota cuts for EVs. That said, India's EV policy announced last year does walk an extra mile, lowering import duties from 100 percent to 15 percent for cars priced over $35,000, but with riders. To avail of these lower tariffs, companies must invest at least $500 million in local production facilities over a three-year period, besides achieving 50 percent domestic value addition within five years. In other words, the government is keen on attracting global automakers, but wants to ensure job creation and development of the domestic manufacturing ecosystem in return—which does not enthuse companies like Tesla. This is not surprising given the pace of EV adoption in India. In 2024, they accounted for 7.5 percent of India's total vehicle sales, but two-wheelers accounted for over 60 percent of all EV sales. Overall growth is also dismal compared to major markets like China, where about half the new cars sold last year were electric. One of the drags on growth is that there are too few charging stations—only one public charging station for every 235 EVs, according to one estimate. Then there is a lack of standardisation among charging stations and connectors. Above all, India imports over 90 percent of its lithium-ion batteries and needs local manufacturing to guard against supply chain disruptions. We need to pave the road before EVs can truly vroom.

JPMorgan starts research coverage of top private firms like OpenAI

JPMorgan Chase has begun publishing research notes on prominent private companies transforming industries, a person familiar with the matter told Reuters on Friday. With many industry-leading private companies delaying public listings, they are attracting a growing share of investor capital, prompting institutional investors to track them more closely at earlier stages. Companies such as ChatGPT-maker OpenAI, Elon Musk's SpaceX and TikTok-parent Bytedance now hold valuations that rival or surpass several major S&P 500 firms, blurring the distinction between public and private market influence. The largest US lender released its first report on OpenAI, the company that spurred Wall Street's AI gold rush, according to an internal memo seen by Reuters. Unlike traditional research notes, these brokerage reports will not feature estimates, price targets or ratings, Hussein Malik, head of global research said in the memo, which highlighted AI and software as core areas for private company coverage. "Private companies are becoming increasingly relevant to various industries, especially in the new economy space," Malik said. "The goal of this offering is to support our investor clients by providing structured information and tracking, offering deeper insights into key disruptors and their impact on the sectors in which they operate." Institutional investors are increasingly focused on private company research and investment opportunities as these firms develop technologies that influence mature sectors, the source added. Nearly 1,500 private startups have achieved unicorn status, having raised funding at valuations above $1 billion, according to PitchBook's tracker. North America leads globally with over 1,000 unicorns, collectively valued at nearly $4 trillion. As private companies play a growing role in transforming legacy industries, Wall Street is adjusting to rising demand for insights into these influential firms, reflecting a shift in how market power is assessed.

Elon Musk's xAI may be working on a new meme generator for Grok: 'Something very cool is brewing'

Representative Image Elon Musk 's artificial intelligence (AI) startup xAI may be developing a new meme generator for its Grok AI chatbot . In a recent reply to a user inquiring about the same on social media platform X (earlier Twitter), Musk teased that 'Something very cool is brewing.' The reply from the tech billionaire came after the X user suggested Grok should have a separate meme generator option while noting that its existing image generator already performs well for memes. The idea proposed by the user included built-in templates to enhance the meme creation process, suggesting it would make X a more engaging platform. Following his initial hint, Musk shared another post saying, 'Working on a new way to make creative viral videos fast called … ✨ Imagine ✨,' which further indicates the development of new creative tools related to AI and media. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like No annual fees for life UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo However, it's important to note that Grok already has an image generator. The latest version of the same, codenamed Aurora, was introduced last year. What we know about Grok's latest Aurora image generator While introducing the Aurora image generator in Grok in December 2024, the xAI team worte in a blog post: 'We've enhanced Grok's image generation abilities with a new model, code-named Aurora. Aurora is an autoregressive mixture-of-experts network trained to predict the next token from interleaved text and image data. We trained the model on billions of examples from the internet, giving it a deep understanding of the world. As a result, it excels at photorealistic rendering and precisely following text instructions. Beyond text, the model also has native support for multimodal input, allowing it to take inspiration from or directly edit user-provided images. Grok's new capabilities are now available on the 𝕏 platform in select countries and will roll out to all users within a week.' Currently, X Premium users in countries that have access to the Aurora image generator can use it from the social media platform.
