Animal had a big moment at the 71st National Film Awards, winning not one or two but three prestigious honours. Starring Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna, the film won awards for Best Music Direction (Background Music), Special Mention (Re-Recording Mixer) and Best Sound Design, bringing a proud moment for the team. Anil Kapoor, who played a key role in the film, couldn't hold back his excitement as he gave a huge shout-out to the team via a dedicated note on social media.
Taking to Instagram stories, Anil Kapoor wrote, 'HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to Team Animal! Winners of 3 National Awards! Charshavardhan Rameshwar, Crajakrishnan, Mr @sachin.sudhakaran @tylerdurdenaltrego. What a team. What a roar."
Bhushan Kumar On Animal's Awards
Producer Bhushan Kumar also expressed joy over the film's achievement in an official statement. 'This is a moment of great pride for everyone at T-Series and Bhadrakali Pictures," he said. 'Receiving multiple National Awards for the music of our films is a genuine affirmation of the narratives we've supported and the talent we've partnered with."
And the celebration didn't stop there for Bhushan Kumar. His other productions Aatmapamphlet and Jawan also won major wins, including Shilpa Rao's Best Playback Singer for Chaleya and Aatmapamphlet's Ashish Avinash Bende for Best Debut Director.
The Plot Of Animal
Released in December 2023, Animal made huge waves at the box office, earning over Rs 900 crores. The film follows Vijay (Ranbir Kapoor), a man with a complex and toxic relationship with his father (Anil Kapoor). Rashmika Mandanna also joins the cast to play the female lead. The supporting cast includes Triptii Dimri, Saurabh Sachdeva and Shakti Kapoor. Despite its commercial success, the film faced backlash for being 'misogynistic", sparking debate among Internet users.
Previously, Rashmika Mandanna appeared on Neha Dhupia's podcast where she noted that Animal was 'just about a character' who is 'messed in the head.' Calling the film 'raw, real and correct," she added, 'He's messed up in the head and will go to any lengths for his father, which was engraved in my mind when I shot for the film. Nobody can do anything about it, it's his story. If you want films to be raw, real and correct, Animal is that. After watching it, to say it's misogynistic or whatever…if you enjoyed it, just leave it."
Animal was released in theatres in December 2023.

Kerala HC orders interim stay on proceedings in FIR against actor Shwetha Menon over obscene content
Kerala High Court on Thursday stayed the proceedings in connection with the FIR lodged against Malayalam film actor Shwetha Menon for allegedly publishing or transmitting obscene scenes of some of her past movies and advertisements. (Also read: Maala Parvathi calls FIR on Shwetha Menon over obscene content 'tug for power' during AMMA elections) The interim order in connection with actor Shwetha Menon was passed by Justice V G Arun.(Instagram/@shwetha_menon) Update on Shwetha Menon case The interim order was passed by Justice V G Arun on a plea moved by the actor to quash the FIR against her. The court also issued notice to the state and the complainant on whose complaint a magisterial court had ordered lodging of the FIR. An FIR under section 67 (publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form) of the Information Technology (IT) Act and provisions of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act was lodged against the actor. An officer of Ernakulam Central police station told PTI that no case was initially registered based on the complaint, but the activist went to court to seek registration of an FIR. About the complaint Social activist Martin Menachery filed a complaint against Shwetha. The complaint alleges that Shwetha had shot some obscene scenes in her past movies and that these were being circulated online on social media and various sites. The complaint specifically cited the actor's roles in films like Rathinirvedam, Paleri Manikyam: Oru Pathirakolapathakathinte Katha, and Kalimannu, in addition to her appearance in a condom commercial. Shwetha is currently contesting for the post of president of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA). Malayalam superstar Mohanlal had stepped down from the same post last year in the wake of the Justice Hema Committee Report. The election to the executive committee is scheduled for August 15. Meanwhile, speaking to the press, Martin has said that his complaint has nothing to do with AMMA elections.
