for the 6th time, he touched many deeply with his heartfelt speech at the recent audio launch of 'Thalaivan Thalaivii'. Santhosh Narayanan, who rose from small beginnings to become one of Kollywood's leading music composers, shared the difficult moments of his life in a heartfelt speech.
Early struggles and travel for love
Talking about his love life and early days, Santhosh Narayanan said, "Even if I had ten thousand in my hand at one time, I would have rushed to get on a plane and see my wife Meenakshi. Early in my life, love, work, and travel were all intertwined," he said. He also said, "Sometimes we will do a project for EB bills, to pay the rent. Like, we will do a project to go to Australia. It will cost Rs. 18 thousand.
There should be at least that amount.
We have to go from here empty-handed and come back the same way. At one point, we were in a situation where we didn't have $50. We panicked because the train wasn't coming. We didn't even have money to catch the next train." But then Meenakshi said, 'We will win anyway.' Those words are still etched in my mind to this day,' he said.
Rise to fame
Since his debut in Pa. Ranjith's 'Attakathi', Santhosh Narayanan has played a key role in the background music of many successful films, including 'Pizza', 'Soodhu Kavvum', 'Kabali', 'Kaala', and 'Kalki 2898 AD'.

Dedicates his success to family
"The reason for my success is my mother, father, Meenakshi and those who have been my strength. If my music has touched the younger generation today, it is because of this journey," he said eloquently at the 'Thalaivan Thalaivii' audio launch.

Saiyaara box office collection day 5: Ahaan Panday-Aneet Padda's film earns Rs 132 cr; beats Salman Khan's Sikandar, eyes Akshay Kumar and Aamir Khan's record
Mohit Suri's romantic drama Saiyaara, starring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, is in no mood to slow down at the domestic box office. After scoring the biggest opening for an Indian film starring newcomers, Saiyaara has now crossed the Rs 100 crore mark and posed as a formidable threat to the films of superstars like Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar. On day 5, its first Tuesday, Saiyaara even registered a slight growth from day 4, its first Monday at the domestic box office. The film earned Rs 25 crore on Tuesday, a marginal hike from its Monday earnings of Rs 24 crore. That was a drop from the massive Sunday (day 3) collection of Rs 35.75 crore, a major rise from its Saturday (day 2) earnings of Rs 26 crore, a further spike from its historic opening day collection of Rs 21.5 crore. As per Sacnilk, the current box office collection of Saiyaara in India, after five days, stands at Rs 132.25 crore. In the process, Saiyaara has not become the rare film with newcomers to enter the Rs 100 crore club, but also surpassed the box office collections of a previous Rs 100 crore club member of this year — AR Murugadoss' action thriller Sikandar, starring Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna, which collected Rs 129.95 crore in India. Saiyaara's next target is to surpass Akshay Kumar's Sky Force, which earned Rs 134.93 crore. The film is most likely to achieve that feat today. Given its current trajectory, it may very well also challenge other members of the Rs 100 crore club from this year, including Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par (Rs 164.74 crore), Ajay Devgn's Raid 2 (Rs 179.30 crore), and Akshay Kumar's Housefull 5 (Rs 198.41 crore). This past weekend, Saiyaara also registered the highest opening for a romantic film ever by grossing Rs 119 crore in the first three days, as per the production house, Aditya Chopra's Yash Raj Films. The movie, which marks Panday's big screen debut and a critically-praised turn for Padda, who previously featured in Big Girls Don't Cry and Kajol-starrer Salaam Venky, earned Rs 84 crore in India and brought in Rs 17.25 from international markets over the opening weekend. The film's impressive three-day run at the box office has beaten lifetime collection of other debuts of star kids like Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan's Student of the Year (2012), and Jahnvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khattar's Dhadak (2018), which earned Rs 70 crore and Rs 73 crore (lifetime) respectively. Ahaan is the cousin of actor Ananya Panday and the nephew of actor Chunky Panday. Yash Raj Films have requested exhibitors to not hike ticket prices in order to keep them accessible for the youth supporting the film. The production house had also previously decided that Pandey and Padda will not engage in promotions of the film.

Taran Adarsh's Verdict Trade experts said that Saiyaara has been rewriting box office rules as the Hindi film industry is going through a dull phase with most of the films falling flat. Saiyaara created a buzz due to its emotional storyline, intense love story and powerful performances by the two debutants. An excerpt from Taran Adarsh's recent X post read, "HISTORIC, ONCE AGAIN... 'SAIYAARA' CONTINUES TO REWRITE RECORD BOOKS... #Saiyaara goes on a rampage on Monday - a working day - yet shows no signs of slowing down... Monday's numbers are HIGHER than Friday's - an incredible feat. HISTORIC, ONCE AGAIN… 'SAIYAARA' CONTINUES TO REWRITE RECORD BOOKS... #Saiyaara goes on a rampage on Monday – a working day – yet shows no signs of slowing down... Monday's numbers are HIGHER than Friday's – an incredible feat. Not just the biggest opener – not just the biggest… — taran adarsh (@taran_adarsh) July 22, 2025 "Not just the biggest opener - not just the biggest weekend - #Saiyaara is now also the biggest Monday grosser for a film *starring newcomers*. "But that's not all - #Saiyaara's *Monday numbers* are higher than those of #Housefull5 [#AkshayKumar], #Raid2 [#AjayDevgn], and #SitaareZameenPar [#AamirKhan]. "Wait, #Saiyaara has scored even higher than #Chhaava [#VickyKaushal] on Monday - the highest-grossing film of 2025." Taran Adarsh predicted the Tuesday numbers would be higher as the film opted for discounted ticket prices. About Saiyaara Produced by Yash Raj Films, the film deals with love, loss, and heartbreak in a poignant way. The film stars debutant Ahaan Pandey as Krish Kapoor, a struggling musician, alongside Aneet Padda as Vaani Batra, a young writer diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's disease. In A Nutshell Mohit Suri's musical Saiyaara continues to script history at the box office as there's no sign of slowing down for the film. The Tuesday numbers are higher than those from Monday, making it one of the top five highest-grossing films of the year.
